VOOR HET GEBRUIK
Lees voor het gebruik eerst deze gebruiksaanwijzing. De gebruiksaanwijzing bevat belangrijke tips en adviezen
voor het gebruik, de veiligheid en het onderhoud van het apparaat. Bewaar de gebruiksaanwijzing zorgvuldig en
geef deze door aan eventuele andere gebruikers. Het apparaat mag alleen worden gebruikt voor het doel waarvoor
het is bedoeld en de aanwijzingen in deze gebruiksaanwijzing moeten te allen tijde worden opgevolgd. Houd bij het
gebruik de veiligheidsvoorschriften in acht.
VEILIGHEIDSVOORSCHRIFTEN
• Het apparaat mag alleen worden aangesloten op wisselstroom (met een voltage conform het typeaanduidings-
plaatje op het apparaat) op een volgens de voorschriften geplaatst veiligheidsstopcontact. Het elektriciteitssnoer
en de stekker moeten droog zijn.
• Het apparaat is ontworpen voor kortstondig gebruik. Wilt u meerdere voorwerpen achter elkaar
slijpen, las na 4 minuten gebruik altijd een pauze in om het apparaat voldoende te laten afkoelen.
• Dit apparaat is niet geschikt voor nat slijpen.
• Het elektriciteitssnoer mag niet over scherpe randen lopen, worden vastgeklemd of naar beneden
hangen. Bescherm het snoer tegen hitte en olie.
• Het apparaat mag niet in aanraking komen met een hete ondergrond of in de buurt van open vuur
geplaatst worden.
• Trek de stekker nooit aan het snoer of met natte handen uit het stopcontact.
• Dit apparaat is niet bestemd voor gebruik door personen (kinderen inbegrepen) met beperkte
fysische, sensorische of geestige mogelijkheden, of door personen zonder ervaring of kennis,
tenzij een persoon, die voor hun veiligheid verantwoordelijk is, toeziet of duidelijke instructies
heeft gegeven, hoe het apparaat benut moet worden.

• Pas op, dat kinderen geen kans krijgen met het apparaat te spelen.
• Gebruik het apparaat niet of haal onmiddellijk de stekker uit het stopcontact wanneer:
- Het apparaat of het elektriciteitssnoer beschadigd is.
- Wordt vermoed dat het apparaat defect is als gevolg van een val of iets dergelijks. In deze gevallen dient het
apparaat te worden gerepareerd.
• De stekker moet uit het stopcontact worden gehaald als:
- tijdens het gebruik een storing optreedt;
- het apparaat wordt schoongemaakt of onderhouden;
- u klaar bent met het gebruik.
• Het apparaat mag niet in water worden ondergedompeld.
• Bij gebruik voor een andere bestemming dan is bedoeld, onjuiste bediening of ondeskundige reparatie aanvaar-
den wij geen aansprakelijkheid voor eventuele schade. Tevens zijn in dergelijke situaties garantievergoedingen
uitgesloten.
• Het apparaat is niet voor commercieel gebruik bestemd.
• Wanneer het snoer van dit apparaat beschadigd raakt, moet het door een gekwalificeerde service-
monteur vervangen worden. Door ondeskundige reparaties kunnen grote gevaren ontstaan voor de
gebruiker.
IN GEBRUIK NEMEN
Sluit het apparaat aan op het stroomnet. Kies de gewenste slijpinstelling door aan de slijpkop te
draaien. Wanneer u het gewenste symbool op de slijpkop naar boven draait, zult u merken dat de
slijpkop zich hierop instelt. U schakelt het apparaat in met behulp van de drukknop. Het kloppende
geluid van de motor dat u daarbij hoort is normaal en vormt geen reden voor ongerustheid.

SLIJPPROCEDURE
Slijp alleen schone messen. Haal messen en scharen onder lichte druk en met een vloeiende beweging naar u
toe. Beweeg de meesen en scharen in geen geval heen en weer. Blijf de beweging herhalen totdat de gewenste
scherpte bereikt is. De kwaliteit van het stijpen is sterk afhankelijk van de kwaliteit van de messen. Slijp een
mes of schaar altijd over de gehele lengte omdat anders een onregelmatig snijvlak kann ontstaan. Sterke druk en
een vebogen lemmet blokkeren de slijpschijf. Begin overnieuw.
Messen met een glad lemmet: moeten aan beide zijden geslepen worden. Beide mes-
geleidingen aan de rechter en linker zijde zijn geschikt. Plaats het mes in de rechter
mesgeleiding rechts en in de linker mesgeleiding links.
Tafelmessen met kartelrand alleen aan de gladde zijde slijpen. Tafelmessen zijn reeds
bij aankoop minder scherp dan gladde messen en hiermee niet te vergelijken. Slijp deze
daarom kortstondig en zeker niet langer dan nodig is.
Kartelmessen alleen in de kartels slijpen. Leg het mes met de kartels
naar beneden in het apparaat. Kartelmessen kunnen vanwege hun vorm
slechts in beperkte mate geslepen worden. Een afstompen van de puntjes
is onvermijdelijk.
Zaagmessen hoeven niet geslepen te worden.
Scharen moet u eerst openklappen. Haal beide schaardelen achter elkaar door de slijp-
gleuf van het apparaat. Let goed op: Bij het vasthouden van de reeds geslepen meshelft.
Schroevedraaiers moet u recht tegen de slijpkop houden zodat het uiteinde weer
helemaal vlak wordt.
Klein gereedschap dient u na het wegnemen van de slijpkop direct tegen
de dan zicht-bare slijpsteen te houden.
Verwisseling slijpschijven: Voor het losdraaien van de schroef moet u
de slijpsteen vasthouden.
REINIGING EN ONDERHOUD
Het apparaat mag niet ondergedompeld worden in water. Reinig het apparaat af en toe met een iets
vochtige doek. Gebruik geen schuurmiddel. 7

BEFORE USING
Read the instructions carefully. They contain important notes for the use, safety and maintenance of the appliance.

Only use the appliance for the purpose mentioned in these instructions.
When using pay particular attention to the safety advice below.
SAFETY ADVICE
• Only connect the appliance to alternating current - with a rated voltage according to the rating plate - to a cor-
rectly installed earthed socket. Cord and plug must be completely dry.
• The appliance is made for short-term operation. If several objects have to be sharpened one after the other, make
a break after 4 minutes of operation which is sufficient to let the appliance cool down.
• The electric sharpener is not suited for wet sharpening operation.
• Do not pull the connection cord over sharp edges or jam it, do not allow it to hang down and pro-
tect it from heat and oil.
• Do not place the appliance onto hot surfaces, e.g. hot plate etc. or near open flames.
• Do not pull out the plug by the cord or touch it with wet hands.
• This appliance is not meant to be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sen-
sorial or mental capacities or in absence of the necessary experience and/or knowledge - unless
they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety and from whom they get instructions
on how to use the appliance.
• Keep out of reach from children.
• If the following happens do not use the appliance and unplug it immediately:

- the appliance or the mains cable is damaged
- any defect after the appliance has accidently dropped or something similar is suspected. In these cases have the
appliance repaired.
• Disconnect the appliance in these situations:
- any malfunction during operation
- prior to cleaning and maintenance
- after use.
• Do not immerse the appliance in water.
• In the case of misuse, wrong handling or incorrect repair no liability will be taken for possible damages. Claims
under guarantee are also excluded in such cases.
• The appliance is not designed for commercial purposes.
• In case the cord of this appliance is damaged, it has to be replaced by an authorised service agent of the manufac-
turer or a person having similar qualifications. Substantial dangers for the user can appear from inappropriate
repairs. Putting into operation. Connect the appliance to a socket. By turning the sharpening head

SHARPENING PROCEDURES
Only sharpen clean objects. Move all knives and scissors under slight pressure in one fluent move-

this procedure until the desired degree of sharpness has been obtained. The quality of the sharpening
procedure is primarily dependent on the quality of the steel. Always sharpen knives and scissors
about the whole length in order to avoid deformations. Strong pressure and tilting the tools block the
grinding disc. In this case start the sharpening operation once again.

Knives with a plain edge have to be sharpened on both sides. The two knife guideways
in the sharpening head are for the right and left side of the knife. The knife in the right
guideway has to be put up against the right side. The knife in the left guideway has to
be put up against the left side.
Fine kitchen cutlery with serrations have to be sharpened only on the plain side. The
sharpness of fine kitchen cutlery is already, when purchasing, not comparable with the
sharpness of knives with a plain edge. The profile of the blade admits a resharpening up
to the absolute sharpness only with limitations.
Serrated knives have to be sharpened on the side of the serration
only.The knife has to be put into the blade guideway with the serrations
directed downwards. A sharpening of the different kinds of serrations is
only possible with limitations.
A gradual flattening of the serration points is unavoidable.
Knives with fine serrations do not need resharpening.
For sharpening scissors, they have to be unclasped. Put both blades,
one after the other, into the guideway. Attention: Be careful when
touching the sharpened blades.
