IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
MAINS SUPPLY
This equipment is designed to operate from a 230 Volt, 50Hz AC mains supply.
Other power sources may damage it.
MAINS PLUG
We have fitted this equipment with a standard mains plug.
If the mains lead becomes damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer,
its service agent or similarly qualified person with a lead of the same type and
rating to avoid a hazard.
If you cut off the mains plug, for example to fit a different type, please destroy
the old plug as it would be dangerous if inserted into a live power outlet.
Carefully follow the wiring instructions supplied with the new plug.
If a fuse is fitted to the plug, remove the fuse before throwing the plug away.
Never use a fused mains plug without the fuse cover.
Mains plug wiring for the UK
In a rewireable plug the wires in the mains lead of this apparatus must be
connected as follows.
The wire-coloured brown must be connected to the terminal that is marked
with the letter L.
The wire-coloured blue must be connected to the terminal that is marked with
the letter N.
When there is no green or green and yellow wire, do not connect anything to
the earth terminal which is marked E, or with the earth symbol.
You must make sure the mains lead is a firmly secured under the cord clamp.

Mains fuse
UK standard (BS1363) plugs must have a 3 amp (BS1362 type) fuse fitted.
Replace the plug or have the power lead assembly replaced if the fuse cover
is lost.
BATTERY HANDLING AND USAGE
Only adults should handle batteries. Do not allow a child to use this product
unless the Battery Compartment Cover is securely attached to the Battery
Compartment.
The battery must be removed from the appliance before it is scrapped.
The appliance must be disconnected from the supply mains when removing
the battery.
The battery is to be disposed of safely.
Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions.
To protect the environment, use local recycling facilities for battery disposal.
CAUTION: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
The battery type used in the unit is two AAA size batteries. The batteries are
located internally and are readily accessible.
Remove the battery compartment cover located at the bottom of the unit to
remove the batteries.
Back up function
If the AC supply is interrupted, the clock and alarm settings will be lost and all
settings will be cancelled. To back up the clock and alarm settings, insert two
batteries (not supplied) in the battery compartment located at the bottom of the
cabinet.
WARNING:
This appliance is intended for domestic household use only and should not be
used for any other purpose or in any other application, such as for
non-domestic use or in a commercial environment.

Prior to cleaning or other maintenance, the appliance must be disconnected
from the supply mains.
The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings
with items, such as newspapers, table-cloths, curtains, etc.
No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the
apparatus.
The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no
objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.
Terminals marked with the symbol according to 5.2.b) are hazardous live
and the external wiring connected to these terminals requires installation by an
instructed person or the use of ready-made leads or cords.
Ventilation
Allow at least a 10 cm gap all around the product.
This apparatus is not suitable for use in a tropical climate.
Class 1 laser product
This product contains a low power laser device. Invisible laser
radiation when open and interlocks defeated.
Avoid exposure to beam.
This digital video disc player employs a laser system. Use of controls,
adjustments, or the performance of procedures other than those specified
herein may result in hazardous radiation Exposure.
To prevent direct exposure to laser beam, do not open the enclosure. Invisible
laser radiation when the enclosure is opened.
Never stare directly into the laser beam.
Do not install this product in a confined space such as a book case or similar
unit.

Headphone Volume Warning
Connect headphones with volume set
low and increase it if required.
Prolonged listening through some
headphones at high volume settings
can result in hearing damage.
Earphones or headphones must
comply with EN50332-1 / EN 50332-2
to ensure continued protection from
excessive sound pressure.
At full power, prolonged listening to the player can damage the ear
of the user.
WARNING: To protect your hearing, It is important that any headphones or
earphones used in conjunction with this product are compliant with French
Decree of 8 November 2005 implementing Article L.5232-1 This ensures that
the sound level does not exceed 100 dB SPL. The prolonged listening at high
volume for more than five hours a week can damage your hearing.

OPERATION
SETTING THE CLOCK
When the system is connected to the AC outlet, the display will flash 12:00.
The default clock format is 12H.
1. Press /HOUR until the correct hour setting is reached.
Press and hold /HOUR to fast set the hour.
2. Press /MINUTE until the correct minute setting is reached.
Press and hold /MINUTE to fast set the minute.
3. To set the clock in 24H format, press and hold CLOCK ADJ. until the
display shows 24H then press /HOUR and /MINUTE repeatedly to
set the hour and minute.
4. When the display shows the correct time, press CLOCK ADJ. to confirm
and the display stops flashing.
NOTE: In 12H clock format, be sure to observe the PM indicator light to set
the hour correctly. If the PM indicator is on, the hour display is PM.
LISTENING TO THE RADIO
NOTE: Extend the antenna at the back of the unit to its full length. It may be
necessary to adjust the direction of this antenna until you find the best position
for reception for your favourite FM stations. For AM reception, rotate the unit
horizontally to the position giving best reception.

1. Press ON/OFF to switch on the radio.
The POWER indicator light will come on.
2. Select the AM or FM waveband using the function selector.
3. Tune in to the desired station using the TUNING control.
4. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME control.
5. To turn off the radio, press ON/OFF.
The POWER indicator light will go out.
COMPACT DISC PLAYBACK
Handling Discs
Do not touch the play side of the disc. Hold the disc by
the edges so that fingerprints do not get on the surface.
Never stick paper or tape on the disc.
Storing Discs
After playing, store the disc in its case. Do not expose the disc to direct
sunlight or source of heat and never leave it in a parked car exposed to direct
sunlight.
Cleaning Discs
Fingerprints and dust on the disc can cause poor picture quality and sound
distortion. Before playing, clean the disc with a clean cloth. Wipe the disc from
the centre out.
Do not use strong solvents such as alcohol, benzene, thinner, commercially
available.
