Ifanyof these items are missingfromthePCIU2retail package, contact yoursupplier

2-2. Using Low-Profile Bracket
Ifyou usethe PCIU2 witha Low-Profile PC,you haveto replace thebracket withthe bundled
Low-Profilebracket as shownbelow.

Afterinstallingit, startyourPC. Then,youneed toinstall thedriverfor thePCIU2.
A)When you use Windows 98SE----------- Proceed to Chapter 3-2.
B)When you use Windows 2000------------Proceed to Chapter 3-3.
C)When you use Windows Me--------------Proceed to Chapter 3-4.
Turnoffyour computerandinstall thePCIU2 intoaPCI slot.
Pleasenotethefollowing:
1.YouhavetoinstallthePCIU2firmly.IfthePCIU2isn’tinstalledfirmly,thisproductor
your PC may get damaged.
2.Besure thegold contact ofthe PCIboard iscompletely in awhite PCIslot.
3.Besure to fasten thebracket of the PCIboard with ascrew as shown below.

Whenyouuse Windows 98SE,followthe stepstoinstall thedriver.
1. When youstartyourPCafter installingthePCIU2,thefollowing HardwareWizard will
appear. Insert the PCIU2 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive and click [Next].
2. Select [Searchforthe bestdriverfor your device.(Recommended)]and click [Next].
3. Click [Next]. Uncheck allthe options.

4. Select [Theupdateddriver(Recommended)NEC USBOpen HostController]and click
[Next].
5. Click [Next].
6. Click[Finish].
7. Thesame hardwarewizardas shownatthe step 1through6 willappearagain.
Follow the same procedure.

10. Select [Specifya location]andtype in [D:\PCIU2]and click [Next].
(D means your CD-ROM drive letter. If your CD-ROM is “E”, you have to type in
[E:\PCIU2].)
8. Then,thefollowinghardwarewizardwillappear.
9. Select [Searchforthe bestdriverfor your device.(Recommended)]and click [Next].

11. Make sure Windowsfound thePCIEHCI.INF filein thePCIU2 folderin theCD-ROM drive.
Then,click [Next].
12. Click[Finish].
13. Restart your PC.
You have now finished installing the driver.

14. Toverifythatthe driveris installed correctly,right-clickon [MyComputer],select[System
Properties], and then select the [DeviceManager] tab.
If you can find two [NEC USB Open Host Controller] strings and a [RATOC PCI USB
EnhancedHost Controller]string under the[UniversalSerialBusControllers],the
driverisinstalledcorrectly.
