1 Introduction
Sandberg USB Multi Hard Disk Link (referred to
as “the adapter”) is a perfect solution for creating
an extremely fast connection of hard disks to a
USB port. The adapter supports both 2.5” and
3.5” IDE and SATA type hard disks. You can even
connect an IDE and a SATA hard disk at the same
time which gives you two extra hard disks on
your computer. Alternatively you can also
connect 5.25” CD and DVD drives. You will avoid
cable clutter as all the connectors are placed
directly on the adapter. User-friendly backup
software for Windows is included.

3.1 Hard disk connector
3.1.1 SATA hard disk
Connect a SATA drive to the SATA connectors
as shown in fig. 3.

3.1.2 IDE 2.5” hard disk
Connect a 2.5” IDE hard disk to the narrow IDE
connector as shown in fig. 3.
3.1.3 IDE 3.5” hard disk
1)Set the hard disk jumpers to "Master" by
following the diagram stuck onto the hard disk
itself, or in other documentation from the hard
disk manufacturer.
2)Connect a 3.5” IDE hard disk to the wide IDE
connector as shown in fig. 3.
3)Connect the supplied 4-pin power cable
between the power connector on the front of
the adapter and the power connector in the
hard disk.
3.1.4 IDE CD/DVD drive
1)Connect an IDE CD/DVD drive to the wide IDE
connector as shown in fig. 3.
2)Connect the supplied 4-pin power cable
between the power connector on the front of
the adapter and the power connector in the
hard disk.
NOTE: An IDE hard disk and a SATA hard disk
can be connected at the same time. Two IDE
hard disks cannot be connected at the same
time.
3.2 PC Connection
1)Connect the power supply to a wall socket
and the small power connector on the front
of the adapter. Switch on the power.
2)Connect the USB cable to the small USB
connector on the front of the adapter and a
USB connector in your PC.
A new drive is created on your computer. You
can use this drive in the same way as any other
drive on your computer.
4. Backup function
On the top of the adapter you will find the
“BACKUP” button. By pressing this button just
once you can make backups of selected files and
folders from another of your computer’s hard
disks.
NB: This function is only available in Windows
as Mac OS already offers the smart backup facility
Time Machine. The following section is therefore
of no relevance to Mac OS users.
4.1 Installation of software
1. Insert the CD provided.
2. Open the PcCloneEx folder and then the
“Setup.exe” file.
3. Click “Install”, “Next”, “Install” and then
“OK”.
The program is now installed and ready for use.
4.2 Use of backup software
1. You have a new icon in the notification area.
Double-click it. The PCClone EX Lite program
launches.
2. Click the Files backup icon in the middle of
the screen.

Now select the files that you want to back up.
On the left-hand side of the screen you will see
your computer’s disk drive and on the right-
hand side the hard disk / the hard disks connected
to the adapter.
3. Select the folders and files on the left-hand
side of the screen that you want to back up.
4. Press the button on the top of the adapter. A
window will open on your screen.
5. Press the button again. Backup of the selected
files starts.

Every time you want to make a backup copy of
the selected files in future all you have to do is
press the button.
If you would like to change the files and folders
which are backed up, click the “Files backup”
icon in the PCClone EX Lite program.
NB: Your backups will be saved on the drive in
a hidden folder called FNET. If you want the
folder to be visible, you must select ”Show
hidden files and folders” in Windows’ Folder
view.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Partitioning
The connected hard disk(s) must be partitioned
so that the computer can read and write on them.
If this is a new unused hard disk, it has typically
not been partitioned. This can be done so as
follows:
1. Open Disk Management under Administrative
Tools -> Computer Administration in the
Windows Control Panel.
2. Highlight the hard disk’s unallocated area as
shown in figure 6:

3. Right-click and select “New partition/volume”.
Follow the instructions on the screen to
allocate the desired size and drive letter etc.
to the partition. We recommend selecting
primary partition, maximum possible capacity
and formatting in NTFS file format.
4. Formatting begins, after which the partition
is completed and can be accessed like any
other drive.

5.2 The hard disk has been partitioned, but no
new drive can be found
• Check that the power supply is connected
correctly and that the power socket is switched
on.
• Check that the hard disk has been correctly
connected to the corresponding connector on
the adapter.
• Try connecting to a different USB port.
• Please note that only one IDE hard disk can be
connected at a time.

1 Introduktion
Sandberg USB Multi Hard Disk Link (herefter
kaldet ”adapteren”) er en perfekt løsning for
lynhurtig tilslutning af harddiske til en USB port.
Adapteren understøtter harddiske af både 2.5”
og 3.5” størrelse, og af både IDE og SATA type.
Du kan endda tilslutte en IDE og en SATA
harddisk samtidig, og på denne måde få hele
2 ekstra harddiske på din computer. Alternativt
kan også 5.25” CD og DVD drev tilsluttes. Du
slipper for kabelrod, da alle tilslutningsstik sidder
direkte på adapteren. Brugervenligt backup
software til Windows medfølger.

3.1.2 IDE 2.5” harddisk
Tilslut en 2.5” IDE harddisk til det smalle IDE stik
som vist i fig. 3.
3.1.3 IDE 3.5” harddisk
1)Indstil harddiskens jumpers til ”Master” ved
at følge diagrammet påklistret selve
harddisken, eller i anden dokumentation fra
harddiskproducenten.
2)Tilslut en 3.5” IDE harddisk til det brede IDE
stik som vist i fig. 3.
3)Tilslut det medfølgende 4-polede strømkabel
imellem strømstikket på forsiden af adapteren
og strømstikket i harddisken.
3.1.4 IDE CD/DVD drev
1)Tilslut et IDE CD/DVD drev til det brede IDE
stik som vist i fig. 3.
2)Tilslut det medfølgende 4-polede strømkabel
imellem strømstikket på forsiden af adapteren
og strømstikket i harddisken.
Bemærk: Én IDE harddisk og én SATA harddisk
kan tilsluttes samtidig. To IDE harddiske kan ikke
håndteres samtidigt.
3.2 PC Tilslutning
1)Forbind strømforsyningen imellem et vægstik
og det lille runde strømstik på forsiden af
adapteren. Tænd for strømmen.
2)Forbind USB kablet imellem det lille USB stik
på forsiden af adapteren og et USB stik i din
PC.
Et nyt drev oprettes på computeren. Dette drev
kan bruges som ethvert andet drev på
computeren.
4. Backup funktion
På toppen af adapteren sidder knappen
”BACKUP”. Med denne knap kan du med et
enkelt tryk tage backup af udvalgte filer og
mapper fra en anden af computerens harddiske.
Bemærk: Denne funktion er kun tilgængelig i
Windows, da Mac OS i forvejen byder på den
smarte backup facilitet Time Machine. Følgende
er derfor ikke relevant for Mac OS brugere.
4.1 Installation af software
1. Indsæt den medfølgende CD.
2. Åbn mappen PcCloneEx og dernæst filen
”Setup.exe”.
3. Klik ”Install”, ”Next”, ”Install” og ”OK”.
Programmet er nu installeret og klar til brug.
4.2 Brug af backupsoftware
1. Du har fået et nyt ikon på proceslinien.
Dobbeltklik på dette. Programmet PCClone EX
Lite åbner.
2. Klik på ikonet Files backup i midten af billedet.

Du skal nu vælge de filer, som du ønsker at tage
backup af. I venstre side af billedet vises din
computers diskdrev, og i højre side vises
harddisken / harddiskene tilsluttet adapteren.
3. Marker de mapper og filer i venstre side af
billedet, som du ønsker at tage backup af.
4. Tryk på knappen på toppen af adapteren. Et
vindue åbner på din skærm.
5. Tryk på knappen igen. Backup af de valgte
filer starter.

Hver gang du ønsker at tage en ny sikkerhedskopi
af de valgte filer i fremtiden, trykker du blot på
knappen.
Ønsker du at ændre de filer og mapper, der tages
backup af, skal du i programmet PCClone EX
Lite klikke på ikonet ”Files backup”.
Bemærk: Dine sikkerhedskopier gemmes på
harddisken i en skjult mappe med navnet FNET.
Ønsker du at gøre mappen synlig, skal du slå
visning af skjulte mapper til i Windows’
mappevisning.
5. Problemløsning
5.1 Partitionering
Den eller de tilsluttede harddiske skal være
partitionerede, for at computeren kan læse og
skrive på dem. Er det en ny ubrugt harddisk, er
den typisk ikke partioneret. Dette kan gøres som
følger:
1. Åbn diskhåndtering under
computeradministation i Windows’
kontrolpanel.
2. Marker harddiskens uallokerede område som
vist i figur 6:

3. Højreklik og vælg ”Ny partition/volume”. Følg
anvisningerne på skærmen for at tildele
partitionen ønsket størrelse og drevbogstav
mv. Det anbefales at vælge primær partition,
maximal mulig kapacitet og formatering i
NTFS filformat.
4. Formatering påbegyndes, hvorefter partitionen
er færdigoprettet, og kan tilgås som ethvert
andet drev.

5.2 Harddisken er partitioneret, men intet nyt
drev findes
• Tjek at strømforsyningen er tilsluttet korrekt,
og der er tændt på stikkontakten.
• Tjek at stikket på harddisken er korrekt tilsluttet
det modsvarende stik på adapteren.
• Prøv tilslutning til anden USB port.
• Vær opmærksom på, at kun én IDE harddisk
kan tilslutte ad gangen.

1 Innledning
Sandberg USB Multi Hard Disk Link (heretter
kalt ”adapteren”) er en perfekt løsning for lynrask
tilkobling av harddisker til en USB-port.
Adapteren støtter harddisker i størrelsene 2,5”
og 3,5”, og både IDE- og SATA-typene. Du kan
til og med tilkoble en IDE-harddisk og en SATA-
harddisk samtidig, og på denne måten få to
ekstra harddisker på datamaskinen. Alternativt
kan du også koble til en 5,25” CD- og DVD-
stasjon. Du slipper kabelrotet, da alle
tilkoblingskontaktene sitter direkte på adapteren.
