Installing the wireless speaker battery
Getting Started
• Risk of explosion! Batteries should not be exposed to excessive
heat such as bright sunlight or fire.
• Use only the supplied battery.

1. After removing the battery door, plug the battery connector securely into the
socket inside the battery compartment.
2. Place the battery into the battery compartment.
3. Attach the battery door until it clicks into place.
Connecting power to the C52-SP
1. Plug one end of the AC adapter into the power jack on the bottom of the unit.
2. Route the cord through the slots.
3. Plug the large end of the AC adapter into a wall outlet not controlled by a switch.
After connecting power, the C52-SP LEDs light orange for five seconds.
• The supplied power adapter is designed for use with only the
C52-SP. It is not designed to power other devices. Do not connect
the supplied power adapter to any other devices.
• The AC power cord is intended for a vertical or floor mount position.
The prongs are not designed to hold the plug in place if it is plugged
into a ceiling or cabinet outlet.

Register the wireless speakerphone
You can register the C52-SP DECT Expansion Speakerphone to a C520 SIP Conference
phone, C620 SIP Wireless Conference Phone, or a A230 USB DECT Dongle.
If your organization uses DECT auto registration:
The C52-SP will automatically register to the DECT device. You do not need to
take any further action.
If your organization does NOT use DECT auto registration (or if you are not sure):
You must first turn off auto registration by performing the following steps:
1. Press and hold the MUTE ALL button on the C52-SP for five seconds.
2. Press and hold the TALK/OFF button on the C52-SP for five seconds.
The C52-SP LEDs turn steady orange for five seconds, then slowly flash
orange.
At this point, you can manually register the C52-SP to the DECT device.
Folllow the instructions below that apply to your DECT device (C620, C520, or
A230).
Manually register the C52-SP to a C620
1. Press and hold the REGISTRATION button on the bottom of the C52-SP
speakerphone for five seconds.
When you release the button, the C52-SP LEDs will flash red and green
alternatingly. This indicates the C52-SP is ready for registration.
2. Press and hold the LINK key on the C620 base unit for four seconds.
The
SIP
and
SIP
LEDs flash green for about 10 seconds, then turn steady green.
If registration is successful, the LEDs on the C52-SP turn green for five seconds.
If registration fails, the LEDs on the C52-SP turn red for five seconds.
3. To register an additional C52-SP speakerphone, follow the instructions in
"Register the wireless speakerphone" on page 6.
You can register up to two C52-SP units to a C620.
Manually register the C52-SP to a C520
1. Place the C52-SP near the C520 SIP Conference phone.
2. Press and hold the REGISTRATION button on the bottom of the C52-SP
speakerphone for five seconds.
When you release the button, the C52-SP LEDs will flash red and green
alternatingly. This indicates the C52-SP is ready for registration.

4. On the Main Menu, press qto select 3. User Settings, and then press .
5. On the User Settings menu, press qto select 6. Wireless speaker, and then
press .

The screen displays “Registering...”
• If registration is successful, the screen displays “Registration succeeded.”
The base unit plays a confirmation tone. The registered speakerphone LEDs
stop flashing red and green. The LEDs turn green briefly, and then turn off.
• If registration fails, the screen displays “Registration failed.”
• To cancel registration, press .
7. To register an additional C52-SP speakerphone, follow the instructions in
"Register the wireless speakerphone" on page 6.
You can register up to three C52-SP units to a C520.
Manually register the C52-SP to a A230
1. Press and hold the REGISTRATION button on the bottom of the C52-SP
speakerphone for five seconds.
When you release the button, the C52-SP LEDs will flash red and green
alternatingly. This indicates the C52-SP is ready for registration.
2. Press the key on the A230 for 4 seconds.
The red LED on the A230 double-flashes rapidly and turns off when the
registration has been successful. The LEDs on the C52-SP briefly turn green and
then turn off while the red Power LED turns on.

Deregister the wireless speakerphone
If you want to replace a C52-SP, you must deregister the speakerphones that are
registered to the telephone base. To make deregistration easier, read all of the
instructions on this page before you begin.
Deregister the C52-SP from a C620
1. Press .
2. On the Main Menu, press qto select Status & Settings, and then press .
3. On the Status & Settings menu, press qto select User settings, and then
press .
4. On the User Settings menu, press qto select Registration, and then press .
5. On the Registration menu, press qto select Deregistration, and then press .
6. On the Deregistration menu, press qto select WIRELESS SPE, and then
press .
7. Enter the PIN, and then press Next . Default PIN is 1590.
The screen displays “WIRELESS SPE X is deregistered.”
Deregister the C52-SP from a C520
1. Press .
2. On the Main Menu, press qto select 3. User Settings, and then press .
3. On the User Settings menu, press qto select 6. Wireless speaker, and then
press .
4. On the Wireless Speaker menu, press qto select 2. Deregister, and then
press .
The screen displays “Deregister all wireless speakers?”
5. Press Ye s .
The screen displays “Deregistering...” and then “Wireless speakers are
deregistered.”

Deregister the C52-SP from a A230
1. Press the key on the A230 for 10 seconds to enter deregistration mode.
After 4 seconds, the red LED starts to double-flash.
After 10 seconds, the LED starts to flash red rapidly, indicating that the A230 has
entered deregistration mode.
2. Release the key and press it again for one second to confirm deregistration.
The LED turns green for three seconds, turns off for one second and then shows
a steady red light.

Speakerphone operation
Make a call
NOTE: The C52-SP cannot make calls. Use the C520/C620 for making calls, putting
calls on hold, transfer, conference, and so on. You can answer calls, end calls,
and mute audio using the C52-SP.
Answer a call
To answer a call, press .
The call becomes active on all C52-SPs and the C520/C620.
End a call
To end a call, press during a call.
The call ends on all C52-SPs and the C520/C620.
Mute audio during a call
Press MUTE ALL. All C52-SPs and the C520/C620 will be muted.
The LEDs on all devices turn red, and you cannot be heard by the other party.
Ringer
When the C520 rings for incoming calls, the C52-SP rings as well. The C52-SP LEDs
flash green, and the ringer will sound (if not muted).
To immediately mute the ringer, press .
The ringer becomes active again for the next call.
Volume control
To adjust the ringer volume:
When the C52-SP is not in use, press /.
To adjust the listening volume:
During a call, press /.
