It is the customer’s responsibility:
• Tocontactaqualiedelectricalinstaller.
• ToassurethattheelectricalinstallationisadequateandinconformancewithNationalElectricalCode,ANSI/
NFPA70—latestedition*,orCSAStandardsC22.1-94,CanadianElectricalCode,Part1andC22.2No.
0-M91-latestedition**andalllocalcodesandordinances.
Ifcodespermitandaseparategroundwireisused,itisrecommendedthataqualiedelectriciandeterminethat
the ground path is adequate.
A120-Volt,60Hz,AC-only(USA&Canadastandard),fusedelectricalsupplyisrequiredonaseparate15-amp
circuit,fusedonbothsidesoftheline.
DO NOT ground to a gas pipe.
Checkwithaqualiedelectricianifyouarenotsurethattherangehoodisproperlygrounded.
DO NOT have a fuse in the neutral or ground circuit.
IMPORTANT:SavethisInstallationGuideforelectricalinspector’suse.
Therangehoodmustbeconnectedwithcopperwire/plugonly.
Therangehoodshouldbeconnecteddirectlytothefuseddisconnect (or circuit breaker) box throughexible
armoredornon-metallicsheathedcoppercable.AU.L.-orC.S.A.-listedstrainreliefmustbeprovidedateach
endofthepowersupplycable.
Wiresizes (copper wireonly)and connectionsmust conformwiththe ratingof theapplianceas speciedon
the model/serial rating label. Wire sizes must conform to the requirements of the National Electrical Code
ANSI/NFPA 70 — latest edition*, or CSA Standards C22. 1-94, Canadian Electrical Code Part 1 and C22.

Advanced Preparations:
1. Befamiliar with thecontrolsoftherangehoodbyreading
through Range Hood Operations,Page12.
2. Placetherange hood onaat,stable surface. Connectthe
rangehoodtoadesignatedstandardoutlet(pleasereferthe
productlabelforthesuitablevoltageofthisunit)andturnon
therangehood.Verifyall operations ofthe rangehood by
referring to Range Hood Operations, Page12.
3. Place all supplied parts and required hardware on a at, stable surface and
verifytheexistenceofallsuppliedpartslistedonPage4.
4. Carefullyremove the whiteplasticprotective coatfrom thechimney covers
and range hood.
Preparations:
NOTE: To avoid damage to your hood, prevent debris from entering the vent opening.
1. Decide the location of the venting pipe from the hood to the outside. Refer to Venting MethodsonPage7.
2. Duetotheweightandsizeofthisunit,pleasemakesurethatthewoodhoodorframeworkbeingusedisstable
andsecureinthewall.Astraight,shortventrunwillallowthehoodtoperformmoreefciently.
3. Trytoavoidasmanytransitions,elbows,andlongrunaspossible.Thismayreducetheperformanceofthe
hood.
4. IMPORTANT:Peelwhiteplasticprotectivecoatoffthehood,ifany.
5. Usesilvertapeorducttapetosealjointsbetweenpipesections.
6. Putathick,protectivecoveringovercountertop,cooktoporrangetoprotectfromdamageordirt.Remove
anyhazardousobjectsaroundtheareawheninstalling.
CAUTION: If moving the cooking range is necessary to install the hood, turn OFF the power on an elec-
tric range at the main electrical box. SHUT OFF THE GAS BEFORE MOVING A GAS RANGE.
7. Thehoodassemblyisshippedwiththestandard8”roundtransition.Note:Thetransitionisshippedunin-
stalledandmustbeinstalledbeforemountingtheinsertliner(Figure1or2below).Ifin-hoodfanisfurnished
thetransitionisshippedseparately.
8. Ifventingtotheoutsideinstallventsystem(seeVenting Requirements,Page6).Usecaulkingtosealexterior
wall or roof openings.
9. Disconnectmainelectricalsupply,prepareandrunelectricalwiringthroughceilingorwall.Leaveapproxi-
mately12”ofelectricalcordhangingfromtheceiling.Donotrestorepoweruntilwiringiscompleted.
10.Disconnectpowercord,removethebufeltersandthegreasetunnel.Refertoinstallationstep9&10.
11.Reinstallthebafeltersandthegreasetunnelaftertherangehoodisproperlyinstalled.
