Safety Instructions
Keepawayfromdirectsunlightandawayfromchemicals.Makesuretheenvironmentdoesnot
experienceabruptchangesintemperatureorhumidity.
Placetheproductrightsideupatalltimes.
Donotplacenearanyliquids.
Beforecleaning,unplugthepowercord.Wipewithdamppapertowels.Donotusechemicalor
aerosolcleaners.
Topreventtheunitfromfallingover,donotplaceoncartsoranyunstablesurfaces.
Thepowercordmustplugintothecorrectsupplyvoltage.MakesurethatthesuppliedACvoltageis
correctandstable.
Toremoveallelectricalcurrentfromthedevice,ensurethatallpowercordsaredisconnectedfrom
thepowersource.
Riskofexplosionifbatteryisreplacedwithanincorrecttype.Disposeofusedbatteriesappropriately.

Warning:Ifyouinstalladrivethatcontainsdata,thesystemwillformatthedriveanderaseallexistingdata.Please
backupanyimportantdatabeforeinstallation.
Install Drives
1 Pushtheuppercaseinthedirectionasshownbelow.Lifttheuppercaseandsetitaside.
2 Installdrives:
• For 3.5” drives:Slidethedriveintotheharddrivebay,andpushitallthewayuntilit’srmlyconnectedto
theSATAconnector.Securethedrivewiththescrewsprovided.
• For 2.5” drives:
a Placethedriveinthe2.5"DiskHolder(TypeC,soldseparately),andthentightenthe2.5"screwsto
securethedrive.

b Slidethe2.5"DiskHolderintotheharddrivebay,andpushitallthewayuntilthedriveisrmlyconnected
totheSATAconnector.SecuretheDiskHolderwiththeprovidedscrews.
3 Replacetheuppercase,andtightenthescrewsonthebackpanel.
Start Up Your DiskStation
1 Pushthebuttonontheadapterprovidedinthepackageandpullouttheplugcaseasillustratedbelow.
2 Slidetheplugadapterprovidedintotheslotsbypushingitdownward.Notethattheplugadapterthatcomes
withyourDiskStationvariesdependingonyourregion.Theimagebelowisforreferenceonly.

3 ConnectoneendoftheACpoweradaptertothepowerportoftheDiskStation.Connecttheotherendtoa
poweroutlet.
4 UsetheLANcabletoconnecttheDiskStationtoyourswitch,router,orhub.
5 PressthepowerbuttontoturnontheDiskStation.

Install DSM with Web Assistant
YourDiskStationcomeswithabuilt-intoolcalledWeb Assistantthathelpsyoudownloadthelatestversionof
DSMfromtheInternetandinstallitonyourDiskStation.TouseWebAssistant,pleasefollowthestepsbelow.
1 PowerontheDiskStation.
2 OpenawebbrowseronacomputerconnectedtothesamenetworkastheDiskStation.
3 Entereitherofthefollowingintotheaddressbarofyourbrowser:
a nd.synology.com
b diskstation:5000
4 WebAssistantwillbelaunchedinyourwebbrowser.ItwillsearchforandndtheDiskStationwithinthelocal
network.ThestatusoftheDiskStationshouldbeNot Installed.
5 ClickConnecttostartthesetupprocessandfollowtheonscreeninstructions.
Note:
1. TheDiskStationmustbeconnectedtotheInternettoinstallDSMwithWebAssistant.
2. Suggestedbrowsers:Chrome,Firefox.
3. BoththeDiskStationandthecomputermustbeinthesamelocalnetwork.
