The Turtle Staon is an outdoor air quality sensor unit. It was developed to be a robust and safe device for meas-
uring air quality and detecon of ne parculate maer. Collected data is sent via WiFi into the residenal home
network and transmied through the internet to the main servers. The Turtle Monitoring Staon was developed
in collaboraon with the naonal research council of Italy.
Please read and follow all instrucons in this manual with great care.

5. Instrucons for placement and setup
Keep away from any direct source of smoke, dust, heat and water.
Install on a level surface that is stable and where there is no risk of the sensor being pushed over. Do not place it on
so materials and make sure the boom airow is never blocked.
Make sure the solar panel is well illuminated by sunlight during the day and faces the direcon of the sun. You can
nd guidance on the internet about which is the best direcon (depending on your geolocaon and me of the
year) to face any solar panel to get the maximum amount of sun hours covered during the day.
Clean the glass surface of the photovoltaic solar panel with a so damp cloth every month or if you noce any dirt
on it. Handle the panel with care and make sure to not leave any scratches.
Do not expose the sensor to risk and place it stable Do not put it directly on plants or the airow gets blocked

LED Status Table. Error codes and Flashing paerns explanaons
1. LED L1 is on when charging with the external power supply.
2. LED L2 + L3 + L4 will ash synchronously (2 ashes per sec), during the rst start-up, with the sensor not congured.
3. Aer conguraon LED L2 + L3 + L4 will ash synchronously (1 ash per second for a short me) during boot phase.
Then only LED L2 will ash (1 ash every 5 seconds) and the LED L3 & L4 will remain o.
4. Approximately every 15 minutes LED L3 will ash with LED L2 at L1 ash per second, indicang sensor data acquision.
5. Every 24 hours, LED L4 will ash with LED L2, about one ash per second , indicang GPS data acquision.
6. In some cases the acquision of GPS data may coincide with the acquision of sensor data, in this case we will see:
LED L2 + L3 + L4 ash synchronously at one ash per second.
7. In the fail condion, L2 will ash, about 5 ashes per second, the status of L3 or L4 is irrelevant to the signal.

9. Guarantee
Turtle staons were tested in extreme environment and harsh condions and resulted to be a robust and reliable
outdoor sensor unit. The sensor requires periodical maintenance, periodical recalibraon and periodical cleaning
procedure is suggested.
Clean the glass surface of the photovoltaic solar panel with a so damp cloth every month or if you noce any dirt
on it. Handle the panel with care and make sure to not leave any scratches.
For calibraon procedures it is necessary to use a cered laboratory. Standard maintenance and cleaning proce-
dures can be operated by the users.
Never open or manipulate the device, it will render the guarantee void and is dangerous.
The Turtle sensor device is covered by legal guarantee as described in the European direcve (EU) 2019/771
DIRECTIVE (EU) 2019/771 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL
