General Safety Information
Electrically powered sump pumps
normally give many years of trouble-
free service when correctly installed,
maintained, and used. However,
unusual circumstances (interruption of
power to the pump, dirt/debris in the
sump, flooding that exceeds the pump’s
capacity, electrical or mechanical failure
in the pump, etc.) may prevent your
pump from functioning normally. To
prevent possible water damage due to
flooding, consult your dealer about
installing a secondary sump pump, a DC
backup sump pump, and/or a high
water alarm. See the “Troubleshooting
Chart” in this manual for information
about common sump pump problems
and remedies. For more information,
see your dealer.
1. Know the pump application,
limitations, and potential hazards.
Pump water only with this pump.
Do not use in
explosive
atmospheres. Pump is not explosion
proof.
2. Disconnect power before servicing.
3. Release all pressure within the
system before servicing any
component.
4. Drain all water from the system
before servicing.
5. Secure the discharge line before
starting the pump. An unsecured
discharge line will whip, possibly
causing personal injury and/or
property damage.
6. Check hoses for weak or worn
condition before each use, making
certain that all connections are
secure.
Description
The Teel mini submersible sump pump is used for water removal in home and
industrial applications. Used for sump service and dewatering. Starts immediately
and runs continually, when cord is plugged in. Constructed of hi-impact corrosion
resistant plastic. Screened inlet prevents large solids from entering pump. Will
pump down to 3/16”. For operation over 15 minutes continuously, pump should be
immersed a minimum of 4” to provide proper motor cooling.
NOTE: This unit is not designed for applications involving salt water or brine!

General Safety Information
(Continued)
7. Periodically inspect pump and
system components. Perform routine
maintenance as required (See
Maintenance).
8. Provide a means of pressure relief
on pumps whose discharge line can
be shut off or obstructed.
9. Personal safety:
a. Wear safety glasses at all times
when working with pumps.
b. Keep work area clean,
uncluttered and properly lighted
– replace all unused tools and
equipment.
c. Keep visitors at a safe distance
from the work area.
d. Make workshop child-proof –
with padlocks, master switches,
and by removing starter keys.
Risk of electric
shock.
10.This equipment is only for use on
115 volt (single phase) and is
equipped with an approved 3-con-
ductor cord and 3-prong, grounding
type plug (See Figure 1) for your
protection against shock hazards.
Plug pump directly into a properly
installed and grounded 3-prong
grounding type receptacle, as shown
in Figure 1.
The motor must be securely and
adequately grounded for your
protection against shock hazards!
Where a 2-prong wall receptacle is
encountered, it must be replaced with a
properly grounded 3-prong receptacle
installed in accordance with the United
States National Electrical Code, local
codes and ordinances.
11.All wiring should be performed by a
qualified electrician.
12.Make certain that the power source
conforms to the requirements of
your equipment.
13.Protect electrical cord from sharp
objects, hot surfaces, oil and
chemicals. Avoid kinking the cord.
Replace or repair damaged or worn
cords immediately.
14.Do not touch an operating motor.
Modern motors are designed to
operate at high temperatures.
15.Do not handle a pump or pump
motor with wet hands or when
standing on a wet or damp surface,
or in water. Risk of fatal
electrical shock. If
basement floor is wet or damp, turn off
all power before walking on wet area.
If shut off box is in basement, call the
electric company to shut off service to
the house, or call your local fire
department for instructions.
Installation This sump pump
should never be
used in hazardous or explosive
locations. Pump is not explosion proof.
NOTE: Do not use ordinary pipe joint
compound on plastic pipe or pump.
Pipe joint compound can attack plastics
and damage pump.
NOTE: Do not loosen or remove motor
bolts or fittings. Any evidence of
tampering will void warranty.
NOTE: Protector tripping is an
indication of motor overloading as a
result of operating the pump at low
heads (low discharge restriction),
excessively high or low voltage,
inadequate wiring, incorrect motor
connections, or a defective motor or
pump.
1. Pump should be located and should
rest on a level solid foundation. Do
not suspend pump by means of the
discharge pipe or power cord. Do
not install pump directly on clay,
earth or sand surfaces. Clean sump
pit of small stones and gravel which
could clog the pump. Keep pump
inlet screen clear.
2. Install inlet and discharge plumbing.
When using rigid pipe, use plastic
pipe. Wrap thread with teflon tape.
Screw pipe into pump hand tight
plus 1 - 11⁄2turns.
3. Power Supply: Pump is designed for
115V, 60 Hz. operation and requires
a circuit of 15 amperes or more
capacity. It is supplied with a 3-wire
cord set with grounding-type plug
for use in a 3-wire, grounded outlet.
For safety, pump should always be
electrically grounded to a suitable
electrical ground such as a grounded
water pipe or a properly grounded
metallic raceway, or ground wire
system. DO NOT cut off the round
grounding prong.
4. Install any auxiliary components
(e.g. float switch, timer, etc.).
5. Use a sump pit cover on all
installations.
6. After all piping and controls have
been installed, unit is ready for
operation.

Operation Risk of electrical
shock. Do not
touch sump pump, pump motor,
water, or discharge piping when
pump is connected to electrical power.
Always disconnect the pump cord
(power cord) before handling.
1. Plug unit into 115V outlet. It is
strongly recommended that this
unit be plugged into a G.F.I.
(Grounded Fault Interrupter)
circuit. Consult your local electrician
for installation and availability.
2. If pump is being controlled by a
float switch or other type of
automatic control (not supplied
with unit) then unit will operate
automatically. If not, then unplug
unit to stop it.
3. Shaft seal depends on water for
lubrication. Do not operate the
pump unless it is in at least 1/2” of
water. Dry running (pump not
pumping water) will cause seal
damage and eventual pump
failure.
Risk of electrical
shock. Always
disconnect power from unit before
attempting to service.
4. This pump will pump water down
to 3/16”. This means that it will not
remove all the water. If unit has
been operating and suddenly no
water comes out discharge hose,
shut off unit immediately. Water
level is probably very low and unit
has broken prime. Use mop or
squeegee to remove remaining
water.
5. Do not run pump continuously with
water level below 4”. If motor
overload trips and stops pump,
allow unit to cool for one hour
before restarting. Motor will not
restart before overload has cooled.
Maintenance Risk of electrical
shock and
unexpected motor starts. Make certain
that the pump is unplugged before
attempting to service or remove any
components.
Risk of electrical
shock hazard if
motor is improperly repaired or
assembled. Only qualified electricians
or servicemen should attempt to
repair pump motor. There are no
consumer serviceable parts inside
motor housing.
1. The motor in the unit is sealed in
oil. No additional lubrication is
necessary.
NOTE: Disassembly of the motor will
void the warranty. It might also cause
internal leakage and damage to the
unit.
2. Inlet screen should be kept clean
and free of all foreign objects.
Occasionally clean the sump pit and
pump if dirt or foreign matter
accumulate. Small stones, gravel,
sand, dirt, silt, etc. can clog and/or
damage pump and pump seal,
eventually causing pump failure.
