oreven death tothe scooter operator, passenger or abystander.
ProtectiveGear
Ridinga scooter leaves the riderexposed. Therefore,wearingappropriateprotective gear
canpreventordiminishinjuriesfromaccidents.
1. AnApprovedHelmet
Themajorityofseriousmotorcycleinjuriesanddeaths arethedirect resultofa headinjury.
Therefore,drivers and passengers should alwayswearanapprovedhelmet to prevent or
reducethe chanceofheadinjury.

Anapproved helmetneedsto:
•MeetU.S.DepartmentofTransportation (DOT) and state standards. In addition
withlabelsfromtheSafetyHelmetCouncilofAmerica,theAmericanNational
StandardInstitute(ANSI),or theSnellMemorial Foundationtoassuretheintegrity
ofthe product.
•Fitssnuglyon yourhead.
•Havenoobviousdefects such as cracks, loose padding orfrayed straps.
2. EyeandFace Protection
•Aplasticfaceshield canhelpprevent accidentsbyguarding thefacefrom debris,
allowingtheriderto devotefullattentiontothe road.
•Gogglescan protect your eyes in thesamemanner.Neveruse eyeglasses or
sunglassesinplaceafaceshield orgoggles.
3. Clothing
•Brightclothing should be wornbythedriverso as to be easilyseenbyother
motorists.
•Jacketandpantsshouldcoveryourarmsandlegscompletely,but not too loose to
flapin thewindor catchonthelevers orwheelswhich could resultinan accident.

•Leatheror heavydenimclothing ispreferredas thesematerialshelpto preventor
reduceabrasion.
•Bootsor shoes should be highenoughtocoveryour ankles and sturdy enoughto
providesupport.
•Glovesgive youabettergrip and helpprotectyour hands fromtheelements.
SafeRiding
•Keepenoughdistancefromthe othervehiclesaround youasthis givesyoutime to
react.
•Ensurethatyouhave adriver’slicensewith correctclassificationto ridethisscooter
inyourstate.
•Alwaysobserve the rules of the road. Observe the posted speed limit, and signal
yourturnswellinadvance.
•Knowyourlimits. Donotgofasterthenyouareabletocontrol. Alwaystravelata
speedthat is proper fortheterrain,operating conditions, and yourexperience.
•Alwaysinspect your scootereachtimeyou use ittomakesure it isinsafeoperating
condition.
•Alwaysfollowthe inspectionand schedulemaintenance proceduresdescribedin
thismanual.

•Testyourbrakesafteroperationinwetconditions. Ifnecessary, apply the brakes
severaltimestoletfrictiondryoutthelinings.
•Neverattempt wheelies, jumps and other stunts, as these could cause damageto
thescooterandlossofcontrol.
•Alwayskeep both hands on the handlebars and feetonthefloorboardduring
operation.
•Neverconsume alcoholordrugs before orwhileriding scooter.
•Limitthetraveldistancetoavoidfatiguethatcanaffectyourperformance.
Being seen
Manyscooter accidents are causedby car drivers whodo not see scooterriders on the
road. Thereforeyou needtoensure tofollowthese guidelines:
•Wearbrightclothingtoincreasevisibility. Brightorange, yellowor greenjackets or
vestsand brightlycoloredhelmet canhelpothers see you.
•Alwaysuseturnsignals whenyouare planningtoturn ormergetomainroad and
turnitoffafter youhave madeyourturn.
•Flashbrake lightswheneveryou aregoingtoslow downmorequickly orwhere
othersmay not expect you are going to slow down.
•Stayout of blind spotofothermotorists.
•Whenyoucometo anintersection,move totheportion ofyourlane thatwillbring
youintoanotherdriver’sfieldofsight atthe earliestpossible moment.

CarryingPassengers&Loading
!WARNING:
•This scooter is rated for 2 passengers; total weight of the rider and the
passenger must not exceed 330 lbs.

•Do not exceed 17.5 lbs of cargo.

•Attach the load securely since a loose load can catch in the wheel or rack
causingskidding.
Youshouldavoidcarryingpassengersorlargeloadsuntilyouhavegainedsufficient
experienceridingalone.Extraweightchangeshandling,stability,brakingperformance,turns,
acceleration and deceleration. To carry passengers safely you must:
1. Instructthepassengerbefore you start.
•Mustwear ahelmet.
•Geton themotorcycleafteryou have startedtheengine.
•Sitas farforwardas possible withoutcrowdingthe driver.
•Holdfirmly toyourwaist, hips,orbelt orpassengerhandle.
•Keepbothfeetonthepegsatalltime,evenwhenthemotorcycleisstopped.
•Keeplegsawayfromthemuffler.
•Staydirectlybehindyou,leaningasyoulean.
•Avoidanyunnecessarytalkingormotion.
