1. Important Safety Information

Only those who are properly trained or qualiﬁed to use this appliance should do so. Anyone who is not trained or qualiﬁed

should not use this device unless it is under the supervision of someone who is properly trained or qualiﬁed to do so. Children

must be supervised to ensure that they do not use the appliance as a toy. This appliance is classiﬁed as APPLIANCE NOT

ACCESSIBLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service

agent or similarly qualiﬁed persons in order to avoid a hazard. The appliance should be installed in accordance with national

wiring regulations GWP for R410A (R32/125: 50/50): 2087.5. An all-pole disconnection device which has at least 3 mm

separation distance in all pole and a residual current device (RCD) with the rating of above 10mA shall be incorporated in the

ﬁxed wiring according to the national rule.

1.1 Handling Information

Read handling information prior to installing, operating, servicing or maintaining the equipment. Comply with local regulations

and laws when handling refrigerant.

DANGER

Hazard of electric shock, explosion or arc ﬂash

• Apply appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe electrical work practices.

• This equipment must be installed and serviced by qualiﬁed personnel only.

• Comply with all local and national wiring and safety regulations applicable where unit will be installed.

• Turn off all power supplying this equipment before working on or inside of the equipment.

• Always use a properly rated voltage sensing device to conﬁrm power is off.

• Replace all devices, doors and covers before turning on power to this equipment.

2. Introduction

The SRCOOL3KTP Top-of-Rack Air Conditioning Systems are precision, self-contained, DX air-cooled systems.

These systems do not require piping from indoor to outdoor, nor do they require any special cooling infrastructure (an optional

duct is available to supplement smaller environments). As a result, these dedicated cooling systems’ design enables them to

operate independently of the building’s HVAC/comfort cooling system.

For safety and protection, the cooler includes internal leak detection to prevent condensate from entering the rack below by

turning off the cooling system.

The unit arrives ready for use and does NOT require charging with refrigerant.

Notes:

• These are cooling-only devices with no heating capability.

• For maximum efﬁciency, the AC unit is intended for use with Tripp Lite SR25UBAC and SR33UBAC racks, but can be used with other racks

as well.

• The AC unit requires at least 2U of open space in the uppermost U spaces for proper air clearance.

• The system design is for edge environments and network closets. It is not designed for harsh or dirty environments.

• For maximum cooling performance, ensure all U spaces without equipment have blanking panels installed.

3.3 Environment

Maximum Operating Temperature

• Inside rack: up to 100°F (37°C)

• Outside rack: up to 95°F (35°C)*

* Cooling performance will be reduced if the outside rack temperature reaches 95~113°F (35 ~ 45°C).

If the outside rack temperature is greater than 113°F (45°C), the system will go into protection mode (standby).

Performance-Rated Conditions

• Inside rack: 64.0-98.6°F (17.7~37°C), 20%~80%

• Outside rack: 55.4-95°F (13~35°C)

Minimum/maximum air temperature cooling mode test conducted at:

• Min: inside rack 55°F (12.8°C), outside rack 46.4°F (8°C)

• Max: inside rack 116.6°F (47°C), outside rack 113°F (45 °C)

3.4 Unpacking

Use care when unpacking the unit. The unit should be placed on its pallet as close to the ﬁnal installation location as possible

to minimize having to move the unit at a later time.

4. Installation

The SRCOOL3KTP is designed to work in conjunction with Tripp Lite’s SR25UBAC or SR33UBAC rack enclosures, but it can also

be used with any standard rack with an open top to deliver precision cooling to installed equipment.

When installing the SRCOOL3KTP on a non-Tripp Lite rack, please consider the following:

• The amount of space available near the top of the rack. The SRCOOL3KTP requires that the ﬁrst 4U of space below the

cooler is open for proper air ﬂow.

• Access to the electrical connections for power and the connector for the display needs to be provided.

• The spacing for the mounting holes to secure the SRCOOL3KTP is ﬁxed and should not be modiﬁed. If the

mounting holes do not work with the rack, consider replacing the rack with a SR25UBAC or SR33UBAC.

• Due to the weight of the SRCOOL3KTP, it is not recommended to install the unit on a rack that exceeds 33U in

height.

• A mount for the display used for the SRCOOL3KTP is not provided. It is upon the discretion of the end user to

determine a mounting means suitable for the rack in use. Alternately, the SRCOOL3KTPDISBKT accessory can be used to

mount the display to most rack doors, both vented and non-vented.

• The SRCOOL3KTP is supplied with 4 M8-20 mm bolts, lock washers and ﬂat washers to secure the unit to the top

of the rack. Only the provided hardware and mounting locations should be used. For reference, the mounting pattern is:

4. Installation

4.1 Installing the Unit on a Rack

Using a platform jack or forklift capable of reaching a parallel height with the rack, lift the unit next to the rack. Carefully slide

the unit onto the top of the rack. To access the mounting holes, remove the rear cover and front cover of the unit. Using the

supplied hardware, bolt the unit into place on the top of the rack.

4.2 LCD Screen Mounting (SR25UBAC or SR33UBAC Models Only)

An opening for the LCD display is provided in the door of the SR25UBAC and SR33UBAC rack enclosures.

To install the LCD:

• Place the LCD screen into the metal bezel to protect the glass edge of the LCD.

• Place the LCD screen into the opening in the rack door.

• Place the supplied fasteners into the slots only into the top two slots of the LCD panel.

• Hand tighten the screws until they make contact with the door.

• Torque the screws to 5 inch pounds (0.56 N-m). Do not exceed 6.17 inch pounds (0.7 N-m), or the glass may crack.

Note: The bottom two screws are

not used.
