I. Introduction
You have purchased a very sophisticated subwoofer manufactured by
Ultimate Sound. Founded in 1975, Ultimate Sound makes speakers for
every car audio application, speakers for marine environments, enclosed
speaker systems, amplifiers, accessories and other products. Our tradition of
leadership and innovation in the audio industry continues with innovative
products like Platinum Format loudspeakers with HEATT Technology.
We recommend you have your new Platinum Format loudspeakers
installed by a professional. Professional installation shops have the
equipment to do the job correctly, and the experience to recommend the
best mounting locations in your vehicle.
Please use your new Platinum Format loudspeakers responsibly. Very
loud music can cause permanent hearing loss.
PLATINUM FORMAT FEATURES:
•HEATT Technology means our Platinum Format drivers handle
more power with less distortion. A layer of nickel, bonded to an
injection molded cone, dissipates heat from the voice coil. The nickel
layer also increases the stiffness of the cone for less harmonic distortion
at high power.
•The Butyl Rubber Surround has superior damping characteristics and
will last longer than foam surrounds
•Aluminum Voice Coil Former-Improves thermal power handling by
conducting heat away from the coil, into the HEATTcone.
•A Black Chrome Plated Frame provides a striking appearance in
keeping with the "Platinum" designation.
•Spring Loaded Platinum Terminals-Simple, reliable connection and
a distinctive look.
•A Rubber Magnet Cover protects the magnet from chipping or
breaking.

IV. Installation- Sealed Enclosures
1. Sealed enclosures provide excellent performance with Platinum Format
subwoofers. They are the simplest enclosures to design and build. We
recommend you choose a sealed design if you have not built subwoofer
enclosures before. Remember to glue and screw all joints, using
enough glue to make sure all joints are air tight. Loosely fill the
enclosure with fiberglass, poly-fill, or cotton damping material.

V. Installation- Ported Enclosures
1. Ported enclosures use a tuned vent to get additional output at the tuning
frequency. Smaller ports than recommended may cause noise from air
turbulence. Flared ports will produce less turbulence and noise.
Remember to glue and screw all joints, using enough glue to make sure
all joints are air tight.
2. Make sure there is at least 2” between the end of the port and the
adjacent wall of the enclosure.

V. Installation- caisson fermé
2. Les caissons fermés donnent un rendement excellent avec les
subwoofers de la série Platinum Format. Ils sont les caissons les plus
faciles à projeter et à construire. Nous vous recommandons de choisir
un caisson fermé si vous n’avez jamais construit un caisson.
3. Assurez-vous de bien coller avec assez de colle et de bien visser toutes
les arêtes afin que le caisson soit bien étanche. Remplissez le caisson
avec des nattes de fibre en verre, de polyfill ou de coton.

VI. Installation- caisson bassreflex
3. Les caissons bassreflex utilisent un tube de tuning pour obtenir un
rendement additionnel à la fréquence de tuning. Des tubes plus petits
que recommandé produisent peut-être du bruit provoqué par les
turbulences de l’air. Des tubes plus grands et arrondis produisent moins
de turbulences et moins de bruit. Assurez-vous de bien coller avec
assez de colle et de bien visser toutes les arêtes afin que le caisson soit
bien étanche.
4. Assurez-vous qu’il y a au minimum 5 cm d’espace entre la fin du tube
bassreflex et la plaque arrière.
