2/ OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
a) Assembly
Assemble all component in the order shown above, following all safety cautions mentioned under point 3. Note the
direction indicated by the arrows above is the direction of gas flow. Ensure valves on bottle/cylinder, regulator and
torch are turned off / closed before & during assembly.
b) Torch Ignition:
1. Ensure torch handle main valve (1b) is closed
2. Open LPG gas cylinder valve SLOWLY
3. If using regulator, open regulator valve (turn knob clockwise)*
Note: Depending on desired flame size and heat intensity, it may not be necessary to fully open regulator valve. Torch can be lit with
regulator on low pressure setting and then adjusted to higher pressure if required.
4. WAIT 5-10 seconds for gas to fill hose
5. SLOWLY Open main valve on handpiece (1b) to start a small volume of gas flow
6. Using a flint lighter, carefully ignite the tip. Take care to always point the tip away from any personnel.
7. Adjust pilot flame size (1c) if needed
8. Squeeze handle lever (1d) for full heating flame
9. Adjust heating flame valve (1b) as required
b) Torch Shut Off
1. Close the gas bottle/cylinder valve
2. Allow gas to continue burning until flame has extinguished
3. Shut off regulator valve (turn knob anti-clockwise)
If using Maxflame torch kit with cylinder adaptor:
Cylinder adaptor fitting contains an excess-flow safety valve (EFV) to restrict the flow in the event of an accident, such as
hoses being cut/damaged. If the gas supply is turned on / opened up too quickly, the EFV may be activated. This will
restrict flow and result in a small, unstable flame. If this occurs, shut down the torch as per procedure above, then re-
ignite as per procedure above, taking care to open all valves SLOWLY and WAIT for 5-10 seconds for gas to fill the hose.
3/ SAFETY INFORMATION AND IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS
•WARNING: Incorrect use of this product & failure to control burning material while using this torch may cause
serious injury &/or death &/or destruction to property
•Do NOT use this equipment in areas where flammable material, liquid or gases are nearby, or where there is risk
of spread of fire
•Follow all applicable government and safety regulations, especially relating to fire hazards
•When operating this torch, always have a helper with Australian-standards approved fire extinguisher (or other
fire-fighting apparatus) of a type and size appropriate for the application and trained in its use nearby to watch
and control the burning material.
•PPE must be worn when operating this equipment, including hand and face protection. Ensure that all clothing
and PPE is fire retardant.
•All connections must be tightened thoroughly using applicable wrench/tools

•Ensure all connections and equipment are clean and free of dirt and grease. Do NOT use grease or oil on any
connections or components.
•Equipment is designed for use with propane / LPG gas only and must NOT be used with any other gas(es)
•Use with standard 4, 9 or 45kg LPG gas cylinder. Gas cylinder must be kept upright at all times.
•Before use, check all equipment for leaks with an approved bubble solution. Do not light torch until any & all
leaks are repaired.
•If you detect a leak or can smell gas at any time, shut down all valves and extinguish any open flame
immediately. Do not use until leaks are checked & repaired.
•Light torch only with a flint lighter/gun. Do not use matches or a cigarette lighter.
•Maintain secure footing when holding a lighted torch to avoid falling. Shut torch and tank valves off if you are
moving more than a few metres.
•Always direct flame from the torch away from your body when torch is lighted. Never point the torch at yourself
or other persons while lighting or operating. Keep other persons away from the torch at all times.
•Never leave a lighted torch unattended. Turn the torch valve off to extinguish the flame before laying the torch
down. Do not lay a hot torch down on or near flammable material.
•Do not block the flow of air or fuel gas through the torch head. Never allow the torch head to contact a surface
or block the flow of gas from the torch head. Doing this may cause flame direction to reverse and exit from the
top of the torch head toward the operator. Lift torch head from surface immediately if this occurs and release
lever valve.
•Do not use torch in areas where combustible gases or vapors may be stored or otherwise present.
•Do not use this torch on or near flammable material or sealed containers which may cause a fire or explosion
resulting in injury or death. Sealed containers even if empty, may explode.
•Only burn in a small area at one time. Do not use torch near combustibles you do not intend to burn.
•Do not use the torch in windy or very dry conditions in which the torch flame or the amount of material burning
may be difficult to control.
•In some locations you may not be permitted to burn without a permit. Contact your local authorities and fire
department about state and local codes or permit requirements before using torch.
•Torch head will remain hot for a time after shutdown. DO NOT touch or store the equipment until it has cooled.
•Burning or heating some materials can produce dangerous fumes which may cause injury to your lungs or other
parts of your body.
•Only use this equipment outside or, if inside, only use for heating materials in a large area with enough
ventilation to avoid the build up of smoke, fumes and gases. If the air is not clear and free of smoke, fumes and
gases, stop using the torch and move the work outside or improve
•the ventilation.
•Propane fumes may collect in an unventilated or enclosed area causing an explosive atmosphere or one in
•which you cannot safely breathe.
•Never use the torch on materials, coatings, solvents or chemicals which release toxic fumes when heated or on
•toxic plants such as poison ivy or poison oak.
•Avoid breathing smoke or fumes from burning material.
•Keep your head out of the smoke or fumes.
•If the smoke or fumes make you uncomfortable, stop using the torch immediately on the material.
