ALM Summary alarm LED: Illuminates when any point is
in alarm state
DC DC input power LED: Illuminated when valid DC
input power is applied to the unit
FLT Hardware Failure LED:

when RMM-700 has been powered up and
bootloader is loading

Grounding and Electrical Safety
CAUTION: Westell’s Kentrox equipment and peripherals contain electrostatic
sensitive components. Proper handling, shipping, and storage precautions
must be exercised.
CAUTION: During installation, read and observe all additional Cautions and Warnings
shown in Step 1: Install SIM Chip and Wireless Phone Module Hardware in
Remote RMM-700, Step 4: Attach Chassis Ground, and Step 5: Connect
DC Power Input.
Installation
CAUTION: For Westell’s Kentrox equipment to operate safely and correctly, there
must be a safety ground strap between the equipment ground bolts and
the office ground.
Environment
CAUTION: In the event that Remote RMM-700 has been subjected to adverse
environmental conditions, a service inspection of Remote RMM-700
should be made to ensure safe operation.
Restricted Access Locations
CAUTION: The Remote RMM-700 is for use in restricted access locations only.
FCC
The Federal Communications Commission has set limits for emitted radio interference,
and Remote RMM-700 is constructed with this electromagnetic interference (EMI)
limitation in mind. Remote RMM-700 is classified under FCC regulations as a Class A
device, that is, a device for use in commercial environments and not in residential areas.
This device has been tested and shown to comply with the following FCC rule: Part 15
Subpart J. Operation of this equipment in a residential area may cause interference to
radio and TV reception, requiring the user to take whatever steps are necessary to
correct the interference.

Information is available from the FCC describing possible corrective actions. To
maintain low EMI levels, we suggest that you use only metal connectors and shielded
cable grounded to the frame.

Clock Battery
CAUTION: The Real Time Clock battery is intended to last for the life of the product,
and should not require replacement under normal operation. If for any
reason the battery does require replacement, the unit should be returned
for service at Kentrox. Contact Customer Assistance if this need arises.

Installation
Step 1: Install SIM Chip and Wireless Phone Module Hardware in
Remote RMM-700
CAUTION: Kentrox equipment and peripherals contain electrostatic sensitive
components. Proper handling precautions must be exercised.
If your Remote RMM-700 includes the wireless phone module, follow these steps to
install the necessary hardware:
Note: Installation of a SIM Chip and/or wireless phone module is not necessary in all
applications. If your Remote RMM-700 comes with the phone module and SIM
chip installed, proceed to Step 2: Install Mounting Flanges.
1. Affix the FCC sticker (included with the phone module) to the product label on
Remote RMM-700.
2. Using a screwdriver, remove the top/back cover from Remote RMM-700 by
removing the screws from both sides of the top and the center of the back of the
unit. (See Figure 1-1 on page 10). Slide the top cover back and remove it from the
unit.
