Intended Use
The Mangar Rhino Liing Cushion by Winncare, is an inatable liing device which is designed solely for
use as an aid for healthcare workers to li a person in the supine posion from the oor. When inated,
the Rhino lis the paent to the height of a bed or stretcher.
The Rhino is powered by a Mangar Duo Compressor.

WARNINGS
• This equipment MUST only be used by persons competent in its use.
• The medical state of a person needing to be raised MUST be assessed before commencing a li.
• An individual risk assessment should always be performed for each paent before use.
• Ensure that the surface on which the Rhino is to be placed is free from sharp objects. NOTE: Place a
blanket, groundsheet, towel or similar under the Rhino if using it on a rough surface.
• If a slide sheet has been used to transfer the paent onto the Rhino it must be removed from under
the paent before commencing a li.
• The 4 secons MUST always be fully inated in sequence from the boom up, in order to maintain
stability. Always deate the secons from top to boom whilst in use.
• Never leave a paent unaended on the Mangar Rhino Liing Cushion whilst it is inated.
• The Mangar Rhino Liing Cushion must only be inated using the Mangar Airo Duo. Do not aempt
to inate with other air supplies.
• Always ensure the paent is centered on the Mangar Rhino before and during inaon using the white
markings and safety straps as guidance.
• Ensure the Mangar Rhino Liing Cushion is the correct way up before inaon, with the white
markings showing on the top layer facing upwards and the inaon valves showing 1 at the boom
(closest to the ground) and 4 at the top (furthest from the ground).
• If using the Rhino with the Swi Transfer Slide, always ensure safety straps are disconnected from the
Swi once the lateral transfer is complete, and reconnected to the Rhino before performing a li.
Ensure that you read and understand this instrucon manual before using
this product. Failure to follow the instrucons and safety precauons in
this manual can result in damage and/or serious injury.

Posioning the paent on the Rhino - g.

• Posion the Rhino at the side of the paent
so that the paent’s shoulders are level with
the top arrows (A). NOTE: Place a blanket,
groundsheet, towel or similar under the Rhino
if using it on a rough surface.
Note: Before inang the Rhino, check that all
valves are in the INFLATE posion. (g.3) Valves
can be switched between INFLATE and DEFLATE
by pushing the grip inwards and twisng.
• Transfer the paent onto the Rhino. This can be
achieved by rst transferring the paent onto
the Mangar Swi, and then performing a lateral
transfer onto the Rhino.
WARNING: Always refer to the seperate
Mangar Swi User Instrucons before
operang .
• Before inaon of the Mangar Rhino, ensure
the paent is lying centrally on the Rhino, and
then secure the safety straps across the paent
(g.4), ensuring each side is connected to the
connectors on the Rhino Liing Cushion.
WARNING: The safety straps will become ghter
across the paent as the Rhino is inated, so do
not ghten fully before performing the li. Always
check throughout the li that the straps are not
becoming too ght around the paent.

• Connect the hose to the Airo Duo
compressor. (A)
• Place the Rhino liing cushion so it is at on the
ground with the paent outline facing upwards
and the numbered valves starng with number
1 at the boom. Ensure the air valves are facing
towards the foot end of the paent.
• Posion the Airo Duo compressor so that it
will not be in the way while posioning the
paent.
• The Airo Duo can be used with either mains
power or baery power. The pump will
automacally switch between mains or baery
power.

• To switch on, press the ‘Power’ buon (A g.6).
The baery state indicator (B g.6) will show
the baery capacity at the start of operaon.
• To switch o, press and hold the ‘Power’ buon
for 2 seconds. The indicator lights will go out.

Note: Always ensure all straps on the Rhino
are not caught under any objects before
performing the li.
WARNING: If a slide sheet has been used to
transfer the paent onto the Rhino it must
be removed from under the paent before
commencing a li.
• Switch the Airo Duo to ‘On’. Connect the hose
to the valve on the boom secon numbered 1
on the Rhino Liing Cushion to inate. (g.7)
• Push the hose onto valve 1 and ensure fully
connected. Once connected, the hose does not
require someone holding it during inaon.
• Once the rst secon is fully inated, this will
be indicated by the baery indicator lights
ashing green (g.8) on the Airo Duo display,
as well as an audible change in tone.
• Then disconnect the hose from valve 1 and
connect to valve 2 to inate the second secon
(g.9)
• Connue to connect the hose to valves 3 and
4 in sequence unl inaon is complete and
then disconnect the hose from the Rhino
(g.10)
WARNING: In order to maintain stability, secons
must always be fully inated from the boom up,
in sequence. Never deate the secons out of
order whilst a paent is on the Rhino.
• The paent is now in a posion to transfer
from the Rhino.
• If performing a transfer to a bed from the
Rhino using the Swi Transfer Slide, adjust the
bed to a slightly lower height than the Rhino
and always check that the brakes are applied to
the bed or receiving surface before performing
the transfer.

Note: To achieve the desired height, you may
use the liing cushion without inang all four
secons. Each inated secon must be fully
inated, and secons must never be inated/
deated out of sequence.
Note: To transfer a paent from the Rhino across
to another surface, a paent transfer board
should be considered based on an individual risk
assessment.
Emergency deaon for CPR:
• If a paent is on an inated Rhino and requires
CPR to be performed, the Rhino can be
deated to the required height that is suitable
for the person performing CPR.
• To deate the Rhino for CPR, always ensure
you deate the secons in order, from top to
boom to maintain stability.
• Push and turn both valves at the foot end of
the top secon (g.11) numbered 4 to the
DEFLATE posion to release the air. (g.12)
• If height is sll unsuitable, push and turn both
valves at the foot end of secon 3 to release
air. Connue with remaining two secons in
sequence if required.
Note: Aer emergency deaon, if re-inaon is
required to li paent, remember to turn valves
to the INFLATE posion before connecng the
pump. Open valves will prevent full inaon of the
secons.

Aer Use
• To deate once the device is no longer in use,
open all valves on secons 1-4 by pushing in
valve and twisng clockwise to the DEFLATE
posion. (g.13)
Note: While the Rhino is deang, the
user may start to roll up the Rhino to assist
deaon, however this is not necessary as the
product will deate unassisted.
• To pack away, fold up the Rhino beginning with
the head-end of the product. Ensure valves are
turned to the INFLATE posion and caps are
replaced aer use.
Roune Cleaning
Note: Always wipe clean any dirt or spills as soon
as they occur.
To clean, fully inate all secons of the Rhino,
sponge clean with a non abrasive proprietary liquid
cleaner or disinfectant. Clinell Universal wipes or
similar can be used. Dry thoroughly. Do not dry
using hot air.
Disinfecng
The Rhino should be fully inated and pre-cleaned
by washing with detergent and water, thoroughly
rinsed and then disinfected using a 1:10 soluon
of household liquid bleach and water (1 part
bleach to 10 parts cold water). Leave the soluon
on the Rhino for approximately 10 minutes before
thoroughly rinsing o with clean cold water. Allow
to air dry before storage. Do not dry using hot air.
Maintenance
Other than roune cleaning, the Rhino is
maintenance free.
Winncare recommends that your Rhino is
inspected annually by either your supplier or other
suitably qualied person.

inspecon within an annual service contract

Transportaon / Storage
Disconnect the Airo Duo compressor from the Rhino before transporng so as to avoid accidental
inaon of the cushion.
Ensure that the Rhino is clean and thoroughly dry before storing to prevent product damage. Store
in a dry environment.
Winncare recommends you ensure the Airo Duo is fully charged before storing. To maintain the
Airo Duo baery when being stored for long periods, ensure it is fully charged every 3 months.
Disposal / Recycling
When the Rhino has reached the end of its working life, dispose of it using your organisaon’s
recycling/disposal system.
When the Airo Duo has reached the end of it’s working life, remove the baery for safe disposal
and dispose of the Airo Duo using your organisaon’s recycling/disposal system.

The warranty is given against defects in material and workmanship and comprises piece, parts and labour.
The warranty is not valid in the case of fair wear and tear, wilful damage, common neglect, misuse or

The following statements do not aect the consumer’s statutory rights. This product is sold on the
understanding that in the event of any defect of manufacture or material appearing within the warranty
period, the defect will be reced free of charge providing that:
(a) Reasonable evidence is provided (e.g. purchase invoice, delivery note) that the claim is being made
within the warranty period.
(b) The defect is not aributable to accidental damage (either in transit or otherwise), misuse or
unauthorised repair.
