K1 can not set to be the above two function.
Channel selector
Rotate to select channels 1-16.
LED indicator
Lights red while trans itting, green while receiving a signal.
Power switch/Volu e control
Turn clockwise to switch the transceiver ON. Turn counterclockwise until a click sound, to switch the
transceiver OFF. Rotate to adjust the volu e level.
4 unction instruction
Squelch off/Monitor
Function Squelch off is to open the noise li iting circuit forcibly when Signal-to-Noise rate of the signal
doesn’t reach the start level(The squelch function fails), unction Monitor is to open the noise li iting circuit
forcibly when Signal-to-Noise rate of the signal reach the start level but mute code isn’t decoded. Momentary
status is that when press and hold the key, cancel the Squelch and Monitor function, when release the key, back
to normal. Stable status is that switch the squelch and monitor function by press the key.
TOT
Protect the radio by li iting long-ti e trans iting. “Ti e-Out Ti e” is the li itation ti e for trans iting.
“TOT Pre-Alert Ti e” is to set the ti e between the TOT Pre-Alert and TOT li it, “TOT Reset Ti e” is
the Clear Ti e for the TOT ti er, “TOT Rekey Ti e” is the ti e need for trans iting enable after TOT
alerting.
Squelch Level
Adjust the elasticity degree of the squelch.

Battery Save
Enable or shut down the power save function.
Channel Announce ent
Enable or shut down the channel announce ent function.
VOX Gain, VOX Delay Ti e
Enable or shut down the VOX function, set the sensitivity of VOX, VOX delay ti e is to set the
trans iting delay ti e after the VOX being enable.
High/Low Power
Switch the high or low power.
Beep
Enable or disable the re inding signal for power on.
Language
Choose the language for the announce ent.
Alar / Alar Cancel
Call for help in e ergency, once enable, will have big voice of alar . If enable the re ote alar , the
transcerver will trans it for 3 second.
Scan
Enable or disable the scan function. Before enable scan function, need to choose the channels need
scan, and preset the para eter of scan in the Scan Set area.
Scan ode
Set the control ode of scan
Priority channel: Set the channels need to listen to in priority during the scan process.
Look back ti e: Set the ti e to ruturn to the priority channel for scan
Rx dwell ti e: Set the stay ti e caused by receiving signal.
Tx dwell ti e: Set the stay ti e caused by trans iting signal.
Battery Announce
Report the battery volu n by announce ent.
DTMF
PTT ID Rate: Set the trans itting rate of DTMF code
Pri acy Digit Code: Adding ti e of pri acy digit code
First Digit Delay: Set the delayti e between trans itting start and pri acy DTMF code
sending(Considering syste /decoder starting ti e). Increasing this para eter has the sa e effect
with “pri acy digital” code increase ent.
*/# Tone: increase the trans itting ti e for the “*” and “#” tone. In so e case, the trans itting ti e of
these two codes ust to be longer than nu ber code, this para eter can be used. However, if the
trans itting start with the “*” and “#”, the radio CPU will choose longer one between */# Tone and
Pri acy Digit Code after co parison.
D Button Assign ent: Set the function and delayti e of D button
PTT ID: Set the trans itting ode and encode of PTT ID

PC MODE
Preface
The transceiver is progra ed by using a personal co puter, progra ing interface (provided by
ABELL) and progra ing software. Chart 2 shows how the devices work.
Chart 2
Connection procedure
1)Connect the A-82 to the personal co puter with the interface cable.
2)Operate A-82 prgra ing software.
3)Set the co unication interface
4)Operate the progra ing to the radio
5)When data is trans itting fro the transceiver the red LED lights.
When data is receiving by the transceiver the green LED lights.
Notes:
·The data stored in the personal co puter ust atch the Model Na e when it is written into the
EEPROM. Run the software and connect the transceiver with the personal co puter, and then turn
ON.
·DO NOT press the [PTT] key during data trans ission or reception.

Progra ing Interface Cable description
(PC progra ing interface cable: Option)
The progra ing interface cable is required to interface the A-82 with the co puter. It has a circuit in
its D-sub connector (9-pin) case that converts the RS-232C logic level to the TTL level. The
progra ing interface cable connects the side panel jacks of the A-82 to the co puter’s RS-232C
serial port.
·
Progra ing software description
By installing progra ing software of A-82, users are allowed to progra the transceiver with
progra ing interface cable.
·
Progra ing with PC
If data is transferred to the transceiver fro a personal co puter with software provide by ABELL, the
destination data (basic radio infor ation) for each set can be odified. Nor ally, it is not necessary to
odify the destination data because their values are deter ined auto atically when the frequency
range (frequency type) is set.
The values should be odified only if necessary.
Data can be progra ed into the EEPROM in RS-232C for at via the SP MIC plug.
