Installation
zThisappliancemustbeinstalledandservicedbyacompetentpersonasstatedinthe
GasSafety(InstallationandUse)RegulationsCurrentEditionsandtheIEEWiring
Regulations.
zForappliancesinstalledintheRepublicofIrelandpleaserefertoNSAI-DomesticGas
InstallationsI.S.813CurrentEditionsandtheETCIRulesforElectricalInstallations.
zRemoveallpackagingbeforeusingthehob.
zEnsurethatthegasandelectricalsupplycomplieswiththetypestatedontherating
plate,locatednearthegassupplypipe.
zDonotattempttomodifythehobinanyway.
Child Safety
zThishobisdesignedtobeoperatedbyadults.Donotallowchildrentoplaynearor
withthehob.
zThehobgetshotwhenitisinuse.Childrenshouldbekeptawayuntilithascooled.
zChildrencanalsoinjurethemselvesbypullingpansorpotsoffthehob.
zThisapplianceisnotintendedforusebychildrenorotherpersonswhosephysical,
sensoryormentalcapabilitiesorlackofexperienceandknowledgepreventsthem
fromusingtheappliancesafelywithoutsupervisionorinstructionbyaresponsible
persontoensurethattheycanusetheappliancesafely.
During Use
zThishobisintendedfordomesticcookingonly.Itisnotdesignedforcommercialor
industrialpurposes.
zThisapplianceisnotconnectedtoacombustionproductsevacuationdevice.Itmust
beinstalledandconnectedinaccordancewithcurrentinstallationregulations.Particular
attentionshallbegiventotherelevantrequirementsregardingventilation.
zWheninuseagascookinghobwillproduceheatandmoistureintheroominwhich
ithasbeeninstalled.Ensurethereisacontinuousairsupply,keepingairventsin
goodconditionorinstallingacookerhoodwithaventinghose.
zWhenusingthehobforalongperiodoftime,theventilationshouldbeimproved,by
openingawindoworincreasingtheextractorspeed.

zDonotusethishobifitisincontactwithwater.Donotoperatethehobwithwethands.
zEnsurethecontrolknobsareinthe‘OFF’positionwhennotinuse.
zWhenusingotherelectricalappliances,ensurethecabledoesnotcomeintocontact
withthehotsurfacesofthecookingappliance.
zUnstableormisshapenpansshouldnotbeusedonthehobasunstablepanscan
causeanaccidentbytippingorspillage.
zNeverleavethehobunattendedwhencookingwithoilandfats.
zNeveruseplasticoraluminiumfoildishesonthehob.
zPerishablefood,plasticitemsandareosolsmaybeaffectedbyheatandshouldnot
bestoredaboveorbelowthehobunit.
Service
zThishobshouldonlyberepairedorservicedbyanauthorisedServiceEngineerand
onlygenuineapprovedsparepartsshouldbeused.

zAfterinstallation,pleasedisposeofthepackagingwithdueregardtosafetyandthe
environment.
zWhendisposingofanoldappliance,makeitunusable,bycuttingoffthecable.

Description of the Hob
INSTALLATION
Anygasinstallationmustbecarriedoutbyacompetentperson,andinaccordance
withexistingrulesandregulations.
Therelevantinstructionsaretobefoundinthesecondsectionofthismanual.
Please,ensurethat,oncethehobisinstalled,itiseasilyaccessiblefortheengineerinthe
eventofabreakdown.
WHEN THE HOB IS FIRST INSTALLED
Oncethehobhasbeeninstalled,itisimportanttoremoveanyprotectivematerials,which
wereputoninthefactory.

Hob burners
Tolightaburner:
zPush in the relevant control knob and turn it to
maximumposition.
zUponignition,keeptheknobpusheddownabout
5 seconds. This will allow the "thermocouple"
(fig.1-letterD)tobeheatedandthesafetydevice
tobeswitchedoff,otherwise thegassupplywould
beinterrupted.
zThenadjusttheflameasrequired.
zIftheburnerdoesnotignite,turnthecontrolknob
tozero,andtryagain.
zIf you cannot light the flame even after several
attempts,checkthe"cap"(lett.A)andthe"crown"
(lett.B)areinthecorrectposition.
Each control knob is equipped with a pilot light
which gradually lights up according to the heat
levelthatyouselectwiththecontrolknob.
Whenswitchingonthemains,afterinstallationora
powercut,itisquitenormalforthesparkgenerator
tobeactivatedautomatically.
Operation
As soon as a liquid starts boiling, turn down the
flamesothatitwillbarelykeeptheliquidsimmering.
If you use a saucepan which is smaller than the
recommendedsize,theflamewillspreadbeyond
the bottom of the vessel, causing the handle to
overheat.
Take care when frying food in hot oil or fat,
as the overheated splashes could easily ignite.
Ifthecontrolknobsbecomedifficulttoturn,pleasecontactyourlocalServiceForceCentre.
Intheabsence ofelectricity,ignition canoccurwithout theelectricaldevice; inthiscase
approachtheburnerwithaflame,pushtherelevantknobdownandturnitanti-clockwiseuntil
itreachesthe"maximum"position.

Using the Wok Stand
Awokstandisprovidedtoenableyoutousea
roundbottomedwokonthehob.Thewokstand
must only be used on the central burner, and
shouldnotbeusedwithanyothertypeofwok
orpan.Whenfittingthewokstand,ensurethe
recessesdintheframefitsecurelyontothebars
ofthepansupports,asshowninfigure2.

Toensuremaximumburnerefficiency,youshouldonlyusepotsandpanswithaflat
bottomfittingthesizeoftheburnerused(seetable).

Maintenance and Cleaning
Before any maintenance or cleaning
can be carried out, you must
DISCONNECT the hob from the
electricitysupply.
Thehobisbestcleanedwhilstitisstill
warm,asspillagecanberemovedmore
easilythanifitislefttocool.
The Hob Top
Regularlywipeoverthehobtopusinga
softclothwellwrungoutinwarmwater
towhichalittlewasingupliquidhasbeen
added.Avoidtheuseofthefollowing:
-householddetergentandbleaches;
-impregnatedpadsunsuitablefornon-
sticksaucepans;
-steelwoolpads;
-bath/sinkstainremovers.
Should the hob top become heavily
soiled, the following product s are
recommended:
- for stainless steel hobs use a
proprietarystainlesssteelcleaner;
- for other hobs use Hob Brite or Bar
KeepersFriend.
If scratches or cracks are noticed,
disconnect the appliance from the
electrical supply and call your
nearestServiceForceCentre.
Pan Supports
Tokeepthepansupportsinthe
correctposition,theyaremounted
onmetalpinslocatedintheback
ofthehob. Aftercleaning thehob,
ensurethepansupportsare
properlyplacedasshowninfig.3.

Pan Supports

Thepansupportsaredishwasherproof.Ifwashingthembyhand,takecarewhendrying
themastheenamellingprocessoccasionallyleavesroughedges.Ifnecessary,remove
stubbornstainsusingapastecleaner.
The Burners
Theburnercapsandcrownscanberemovedforcleaning.
Washtheburnercapsandcrownsusinghotsoapywater,andremovemarkswithamild
pastecleaner.Awellmoistenedsoapimpregnatedsteel woolpadcanbeusedwith
caution,ifthemarksareparticularlydifficulttoremove.Aftercleaning,besuretowipedry
withasoftcloth.
Ignition electrode
Theelectricignitionisobtainedthroughaceramic"electrode"andametalelectrode(fig.
1-letterC).Keepthesecomponentswellclean,toavoiddifficultlighting,andcheckthatthe
burnercrownholesarenotobstructed.

Something Not Working?
Ifthehobisnotworkingcorrectly,pleasecarryoutthefollowingchecksbeforecontacting
yourlocalServiceForceCentre.
SYMPTOM
Thereisnosparkwhenlightingthegas
Thegasringburnsunevenly
SOLUTION
Check that the unit is plugged in and the
electricalsupplyisswitchedon
CheckthattheRCCBhasnottripped(iffitted)
Checkthemainsfusehasnotblown
Checktheburnercapandcrownhavebeen
replacedcorrectly,e.g.aftercleaning.
Checkthemainjetisnotblockedandthe
burnercrownisclearoffoodparticles.
Checktheburnercapandcrownhavebeen
replacedcorrectly,e.g.aftercleaning.
Ifafter all thesechecks, your hobstill does notoperate correctly, contact your local
ServiceForceCentre.
Please note that it will be necessary to provide proof of purchase for any in-
guaranteeservicecalls.
In-guaranteecustomersshouldensurethattheabovecheckshavebeenmadeasthe
engineerwillmakeachargeifthefaultisnotamechanicalorelectricalbreakdown.
