1. DESCRIPTION
1.1. The DSW3000C03
The DSW3000C03 automated switch is a selector for digital streams in ITU-T G.703
format at 2048kbit/s that operates depending upon the presence of signals at its inputs
and the status of its GPI connectors, all based upon a set of priorities.
In order to detect a lack of signal at the inputs, the DSW3000C03 includes Loss of Signal
detectors (LOS) and Alarm Indicator Signals (AIS) for each input.
The DSW3000C03 provides three inputs labeled Main, Reserve and Auxiliary. The
selected input at any given time is distributed to three outputs. In the case of a power
supply failure, a bypass is performed from the Main input to one of the three outputs.
The DSW3000C03 provides three operating modes: selection of the input can be
Automatic, Semiautomatic or Manual. Any change in the input selected is announced via
an LED and an audible beep.
It is possible to monitor the DSW3000C03 status remotely using a communications
controller module installed in the same mounting frame. In addition, certain controller
modules provide SNMP management and the ability to record events in a file including
date and time information for further analysis.
The DSW3000C03 is a TL3000 terminal line module and can be housed in a three rack
unit (3 RU) UR3000 mounting frame or a 1 RU UR3100 mounting frame.
The DSW3000 family includes several automated switches for different signal types. The
following variations exist:
• DSW3000C01: Automated switch for DVB-ASI and SD-SDI signals.
• DSW3000C02: Automated switch for ITU-T G.703 signals at 155,520kbit/s (STM-1).
• DSW3000C03: Automated switch for ITU-T G.703 signals at 2048kbit/s (E1).
• DSW3000C04: Automated switch for ITU-T G.703 signals at 34,368kbit/s (E3).
• DSW3000C05: Automated switch for ITU-T G.703 signals at 44,736kbit/s (DS3).

• Automatic change-over switch for 2048kbit/s ITU-T G.703 signals.
• Switches between three input sources.
• Provides LOS and AIS detectors for each input.
• The selected input is distributed to three outputs.
• Provides three modes of operation: Automatic, Semiautomatic and Manual.
• Main input will be bypassed to one of the outputs in case of power loss.
• Acoustic and visual indicators warn against changes in the selected source.
• Front panel indicators for input selected, absence of signal, operating mode and alarm.
•Module control and supervision can be done remotely when the mounting frame is
equipped with a communications controller module.
•One UR3000 mounting frame can house up to 12 DSW3000C03 modules. If power
supply redundancy is required and FA3000 or FA3001 modules are used then only 10
modules can be housed in the mounting frame. If PSU3300 or PSU3301 modules are
used for this purpose then up to 12 modules can be installed.
• One UR3100 mounting frame can house up to three DSW3000C03 modules.
• Low power.
