I- General presentation
1.1 Karbu Link control kit
The Karbu Link kit makes it possible to manage the display of fuel prices on petrol price signs equipped with LED
lines (refer to corresponding technical sheet for more information on LED lines).
The Karbu Link can manage 1 to 10 LED lines*;
>Single-sided: maximum display of 10 prices.
>Double-sided: maximum display of 5 prices per side.
*The Karbu Link Standard with its extension kit can manage up to 20 prices.
The Karbu Link is universal and can manage all colours, all formats, all protocols (integrated interface protocols) and
all line sizes.
The Karbu Link is only compatible with Karbu Link LED lines.

1.2 Presentation of the supervision
The supervision is available only with the Supervised KarbuLink Control kit.
• The supervised Karbu Link control kit can be used to respond to requests from a point of sale* by sending it data
related to operation of the totem.
•The supervised Karbu Link can be used to:
- detect the communication status between the totem and the point of sale: increased brightness of each line of the
totem for a few seconds.
- to identify the side, then the line, then the digit, then the segment of LEDs where the fault is observed on the totem.
- to detect faults to the nearest LED (by pack of 4 LEDs).
*The supervised Karbu Link is only compatible with the Tokheim KA protocol (10 price lines maximum).

II - Installation
2.1 Karbu Link
The Karbu Link receives data from the control panel and transmits it to the price lines on the petrol station totem.
Dimensions in mm:
2.2 Safety instructions
Installation and maintenance must be carried out by a qualified person.
The product is connected to the 230V AC mains power supply. Installation must be compliant with IEC364 (NFC 15-
100 for France.)
The product must be powered by the electrical installation of the building. It is designed for Category II overvoltages.
Maxi Vpeak: 2500V. Provide protection for mains power supply if necessary.
The product must be assembled in a “casing for outdoor installation” to ensure:
- Protection from moisture IPx4
- Protection from plant life and parasites
- Protection from excessive dust
- Protection from electric shocks
- Mechanical protection
- Protection from fire.
The product is intended to be mounted only on a concrete surface or any other non-flammable surface.
The different cables must be held fast in the petrol price sign so as not to exert stresses on the connection terminals.
In addition, the conducting wires of a same circuit must be attached to one another near the terminal board to avoid a
reduction in insulation in the event of one of the terminals becoming loosened.
The product must remain permanently powered up and be protected from water spray.
WARNING: no earthing provided on LED lines or CPU control board (provide double insulation if mains is situated
nearby).
Class II equipment.

We recommend the following installation precautions:
• The hole for the cables must be pointing downwards (to avoid moisture entering the enclosure).
• The cables must be long enough and connected to the electronics board, as in the diagram opposite,
with the water droplet principle (cable passes under the Karbu Link box).
Be aware: water leaks ow over the cable. If the installation is not compliant, there is a risk of
short circuit to the electronics board. It is advisable to protect the electronics, with protection
above the fuel price lines, to avoid water entering.
• The cables must be braced to hold them in place.
• Never jam the ribbons between the panels of the petrol price sign or bring them into contact with the eld of a panel
in case the ribbon is cut. To avoid any cuts in the ribbon in the hole in the metal casing, tting a seal (plastic, foam,
etc.) is recommended. Thanks to this seal, the cable can be in contact on the edge of the hole with an angle and
contact that prevent it from being cut.
• Always leave a distance of 50 cm minimum between the bottom of the Karbu Link and the
ground. This avoids water spray on the electronics (water bounces off the ground and splashes
the bottom of the Petrol price sign).
• We recommend installing the Karbu Link at 1.5 m for easier maintenance and to limit water
spray on the product electronics as much as possible.
• To remove condensation inside the Petrol price sign, ventilation is recommended.
Ventilation is achieved by making air holes at the four corners of the petrol price sign (at top
and bottom.) To avoid insects or small animals entering, it is essential to fit anti-insect grilles on
each air hole.
It is essential to plug/seal the lower part of the Petrol price sign to prevent rodents from
entering.

Green if is unchecked in the KarbuConfig software.
Orange (flashing red + green) if is checked in the KarbuConfig software.
** The TBT supply cables can be extended, however, for the installation to be compliant, please refer to the
NFC 15-100 norm to size the cables (length, cross section…).
