_ Printing (p.172)

You can connect the camera directly to a printer and print

out the images in the card. The camera is compatible with

"?'_'PictBddge" which is the standard for direct printing.

_ Digital Print Order Format (DPOF) (p.181)

DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) enables you to print

images recorded in the card according to your printing

instructions such as the image selection, quantity to print,

etc. You can print multiple images in one batch or give the

print order to a photofinisher.

By connecting the camera to a personal computer, you can

transfer images from the camera's card by operating the

camera.

Preparing to Print

The direct printing procedure is done entirely with the camera

while looking at the LCD monitor.

Connecting the Camera to a Printer

Set up the printer.

i_2 Connect the camera to the

®_Use the interface cable provided with

the camera.

_ When connecting the cable plug to

the camera's <'4_ > terminal the

cable plug's <"_7 > icon must face the

front side of the camera.

_Turn on the printer.

UMovies cannot be printed.

The camera cannot be used with printers compatible only with CP Direct

or Bubble Jet Direct

Do not use any interface cable other than the one provided.

If there is a long beeping sound in step 5. it indicates a problem with the

printer. To find out what's wrong, do the following:

I. Press the <r_q> button to playback tile image.

2. Press < _ >.

3. On the print setting screen, select [Print].

The error message will be displayed on the LCD monitor (p.180).

You can also print RAW images taken by this camera.

If you use the battery to power the camera, make sure it is fully charged.

With a fully-charged battery, printing up to about 3.5 hours is possible.

Before disconnecting the cable, turn off the camera and printer first. Hold

the plug (not the cord) to pull out the cable.

For direct printing, using the AC Adapter Kit ACK-E6 (sold separately) to

power the camera is recommended

paper types can be used.

Bordered The print will have white borders along the edges.

Borderless The print will have no white borders. If your printer cannot print

borderless prints, the print will have borders.

The shooting information* will be imprinted on the border on

Bordered[] 9x13cm and larger prints.

xx-up Option to print 2, 4, 8, 9, 16, or 20 images on one sheet.

On A4 or Letter size paper, 20 or 35 thumbnails of the images

20-upH ordered through DPOF (p.I81) will be printed.

35-upD •[20-up[] will have the shooting information* imprinted.

Default The page layout will vary depending on the printer type or its

settings.

From the Exif data, the camera name, lens name, shooting mode, shutter speed,

aperture, exposure compensation amount, ISO speed, white balance, etc., will be

imprinted.

any printing effects, go to step 5.

® Select the option on the upper right,

then press <_>.

® Select the desired printing effect with

the dial, then press <_>.

®If the <[]> icon is displayed next to

<_1-=_>, you can also adjust the

printing effect (p.178).

The image will be printed according to the printer's standard

On colors. The image's Exif data is used to make automatic

corrections.

Off No automatic correction will be performed.

The image will be printed with higher saturation to produce

_Vivid more vivid blues and greens.

_NR The image noise is reduced before printing.

B/W B/W Prints in black-and-white with true blacks.

B/W Cool tone Prints in black-and-white with cool, bluish blacks.

BiW Warm tone Prints in black-and-white with warm, yellowish blacks.

11311Naturam Prints the image in the actual colors and contrast. No

automatic color adjustments will be applied.

The printing characteristics are the same as the "Natural"

Natural Msetting. However, this setting enables finer printing

adjustments than with "Natural."

The printing will differ depending on the printer. For details,

Default see the printer's instruction manual.

When you change the printing effects, it is reflected in the image displayed on

the upper left. Note that the printed image might look slightly different from the

displayed image which is only an approximation. This also applies to

[Brightness] and [Adjust levels] on page 178.

Just select Lheimage and press the <r_,, > button lit in blue. With Easy

printing, the number of copies wilt always be 1. (You cannot set the

number of copies.) Also. any trimming (p.179) will not be applied.

_ The [Default] setting for printing effects and other options are the

printer's own default settings as set by the printer's manufacturer. See

the printer's instruction manual to find out what the [Default] se[tings are.

Depending on the image's file size and image-recording qua{ity, it may

take some time for the printing to start after you select [Print].

If image tilt correction (p.179_ has been applied, it will take longer to print

the image.

e To stop the printing, press <_> while [Stop] is displayed, then select

[OK].

[] Adjustment of Printing Effects

in step 4 on page 176, select the printing

effect. When the <[]> icon is displayed

next to <i;_-_ll>, press the <INF0.>

button. You can then adjust the printing

effect. What can be adjusted or what is

displayed will depend on the selection

made in step 4.

®_Brightness

The image brightness can be adjusted

®_Adjust levels

When you select [Manual], you can change

the histogram's distribution and adjust the

image's brightness and contrast

With the Adjust levels screen displayed, press

the <INF0> button to change the position of

the <l> Turn the <0> dial to freely adjust

the shadow level (0 - 127) or highlight level

(128- 255).

®_ _J,.Brightener

Effective in bacHit conditions which can make the subject's face look

dark When [On] is set, the face will be brightened for printing

®_Red-eye corr.

Effective in flash images where the subject has red eye When [On]

is set, the red eye will be corrected for printing

Trimming the image

Tilt correction You can crop the image and print only

the trimmed portion as if the image was

recomposed. Do the trimming right

before printing. If you set the trimming

and then set the print settings, you may

have to set the trimming again.

_ On the print setting screen, select [Trimming].

_'_ Set the trimming frame size, position, and proportion.

_ Theimageareawithinthetrimmingframewillbeprinted.Thetrimmingframe's

vertical-to-horizontalproportioncanbechangedwith[Paper settings].

Changing the trimming frame size

When you press the < (:_ > or <_,(_ > button, the size of the

trimming frame will change. The smaller the trimming frame, the

larger the image magnification will be for the printing.

Moving the trimming frame

Use <,_'.,> to movetheframe overtheimage verticallyor horizontally.Move

thetrimmingframe untilit coversthe desired imageareaor composition.

Rotating the frame

Each time you press the <INF0.>button, the trimming frame will toggle

between the vertical and horizontal orientations. This enables you to

create a vertical-oriented print from a horizontal image.

Image tilt correction

By turning the <0> dial, you can adjust the image tilt angle by

_+10degrees in 0.5-degree increments. When you adjust the

image tilt, the <<::__.> icon on the screen will turn blue.

_Press <_> to exit the trimming.

_y,,The print setting screen will reappear.

_ You can check the trimmed image area on the upper left of the
