Shooting Function Settings

ISO/_/AF/DRIVE/WB/_/_:.= Settings

While the Live View image is displayed, if you press the <ISO._>,

<AF.DRIVE>, <I3_I-WB>, <E£>, or <,_> button, the setting screen will

appear on the LCD monitor and you can turn the <_> or <G> dial to

set the respective shooting function.

When AFI_ is set, you can press the <[]> button to select the AF area

selection mode and AF point. The procedure is the same as with

viewfinder shooting. Note that the <E_3> metering mode cannot be set.

[] QuickControl

While the Live View image is displayed, you can press the <[_> button

to set the Auto Lighting Optimizer, card selection, recording function,

and image-recording quality.

Press the <[] >button.

_h,,The settable functions will be

displayed.

Select a function and set it.

® Use <,_,> to select a function.

_y,,The setting of the selected function is

displayed at the bottom.

® Turn the <Q> or <_> dial to set it.

_ To set the recording function, press

<_>, then turn the <0> or <_>

dial to set it.

Function settings particular to Live View

shooting are explained here. The menu

options under the [11_4] tab are

explained on pages 203-206. In the

<___> mode, it is displayed under [_2].

The functions settable on this menu

screen only apply during Live View

shooting. These functions do not take

effect during viewfinder shooting.

®_Live View shooting

You can set Live View shooting to [Enable] or [Disable].

_ AF mode

You can select [Live mode] (p.207), [_ Live mode] (p.208), or

[Quick mode] (p.212).

_ Grid display

By displaying a [3x3 _] or [6x4 :_] grid, you can check for any

picture tilting. Also, with [3x3+diag _], the grid is displayed

together with diagonal lines to help you align the intersections over

the subject for better balance in the composition.

®_Aspect ratio "_

The image's aspect ratio can be set to [3:2], [4:3], [16:9], or [1:1].

The area surrounding the Live View image is masked in black when

the following aspect ratios are set: [4:3] [16:9] [1:1].

JPEG images will be saved with the set aspect ratio. RAW images

will always be saved with the [3:2] aspect ratio. Since the aspect

ratio information is appended to the RAW image, the image can be

generated in the respective aspect ratio when you process the RAW

image with the provided software.

When [._.3: Add cropping information] is not set to [Oft], the

aspect ratio will be 3:2. (The aspect ratio cannot be changed.)

0For asterisked image-recording quality, the pixel count does not exactly

match the set aspect ratio.

The image area displayed for the asterisked aspect ratio is slightly larger

than the recorded area. Check the captured images on the LCD monitor

when shooting.

If you use a different camera to directly print images shot with this

camera in the 1:1 aspect ratio, the images may not be correctly printed.

With [..,a..2:LV shooting area display], you can set the display method for

the shooting area (p.318).

_ Exposure simulation*

Exposure simulation displays and simulates how the brightness of the

actual image (exposure) will look.

"Enable (_)

The displayed image brightness will be close to the actual

brightness (exposure)of the resulting image. If you set exposure

compensation, the image brightness will change accordingly.

,During

Normally, the image is displayed at the standard brightness to

make the Live View image easy to see. The image will be

displayed close to the actual brightness (exposure) of the resulting

image only while you hold down the depth-of-field preview button.

,Disable (t;'_:_)

The image is displayed at the standard brightness to make the Live

View image easy to see. Even if you set exposure compensation,

image is displayed at the standard brightness.

_ If you Set an expanded lso Speed setting as [Maximum] in [ISO speed

range], Live View sheeting wi!! be possible under darker conditions.

® Eve n if a lOW!SO spee d iS set, noise may be not!ceable in the displayed

Live View image under low light, However, when you sheet, the image

recorded will have minimal noise. (The image quality of the Live View

image is different {rein that of the recorded image.)

® Silent LV shooting #

° Mode 1

The shooting operation noise is quieter than with normal shooting.

Continuous shooting is also possible. If <I:_H > is set, you can

shoot at a maximum continuous shooting speed of approx. 6 fps.

°Mode 2

When the shutter button is pressed completely, only one shot will be

taken. While you keep holding down the shutter button, the camera

operation will be suspended. Then when you return to the shutter

button's halfway position, the camera operation will resume. The

shooting noise is thereby minimized. Even ifcontinuous shooting is

set, only a single shot will be taken.

° Disable

Be sure to set it to [Disable] if you use a TS-E lens (other than

those listed in [] below) for shifting the lens vertically or if you

use an Extension tube. Setting it to [Mode t] or [Mode 2] will result

in incorrect or irregular exposures.

U _#Ifyou use flash,silent shooting will notbe possible regardlessof the

[Silent LVshoot.] setting.

When usinga non-Canon flash unit.set it to [Disable]. The flash wil! not

fire if it is set to [Mode 1] or [Mode 2].

If[Mode 2] is set and you use remote control shooting (p.186),the

operation will be thesame as with [Mode 1].

] With the TS-E17mm fi4L or TS-E24mm f/3.5L II lens, you can use [Mode 1]

or [Mode 2].

® Metering timer "_

You can change how long the exposure setting is displayed (AE lock

time).

_]lf YOUSelect [1_3; Dust Delete Data], [_3: sensor Cleaning], [_8: clear

aH camera settings], or [_'4: Firmware vet.], the Live View shooting wil! be

terminated.

Selecting theAF Mode

The AF modes available are [Live mode], [_ Live mode] (face

detection, p.208), and [Quick mode] (p.212).

If you want to achieve precise focus, set the lens focus mode switch to

<lVIF>, magnify the image, and focus manually (p.214).

Select the AF mode.

_ Under the [_4] tab, select [AF

mode]. In the <____>mode, it is

displayed under [_2].

_ While the Live View image is

displayed, you can press the

< AF" DRIVE> button to select the AF

mode on the setting screen displayed.

Live Mode: AF_

The image sensor is used to focus. Although AF is possible with the

Live View image displayed, the AF operation will take longer than

with the Quick mode. Also, achieving focus may be more difficult than

with the Quick mode.

AF point

Display the Live View image.

® Press the <_#o"_/>button.

_y,,The Live View image will appear on

the LCD monitor.

_y,,The AF point <[_> will appear.

Move the AF point.

_ You can use <,_;.> to move the AF

point to where you want to focus. (It

cannot go to the edges of the picture.)

_ Pressing <,_;.> straight down will

return the AF point to the image

'_ Focus the subject.

_ Aim the AF point over the subject and

press the shutter button halfway.

_y,,When focus is achieved, the AF point

will turn green and the beeper will

sound.

_y,,If focus is not achieved, the AF point

will turn orange.

,Take the picture.

_ Check the focus and exposure, then

press the shutter button completely to

take the picture (p.198).

(Face detection) Live Mode: AF

With the same AF method as the Live mode, human faces are detected

and focused. Have the target person face the camera.

Display the Live View image.

_4 Press the <SsT#o"_/>button.

_y,,The Live View image will appear on

the LCD monitor.

_ When a face is detected, the <_ _>

frame will appear over the face to be

focused.

_ If multiple faces are detected, <_ _>

will be displayed. Use <,_;_,,>to move

the <_ _,> frame over the target face.

Focus the subject.

_ Press the shutter button halfway and

the camera will focus the face

covered by the <_ _> frame.

_y,,When focus is achieved, the AF point

will turn green and the beeper will

sound.

_y,,If focus is not achieved, the AF point

will turn orange.

®_If a face cannot be detected, the AF

point <[_> will be displayed and AF

will be executed at the center.

Take the picture.

_ Check the focus and exposure, then

press the shutter button completely to

take the picture (p.198).

UIf the focus is far off. face detection will not be possible. If the lens

enabies manual focusing even while the lens focus mode switch is set to

<AF>. turn the focusing ring to attain rough focus. The face will then be

detected and <_ _>will be displayed.

An object other than a human face may be detected as a face.

Face detection will not work if the face is very small or large in the picture,

too bright or too dark. titled horizontally or diagonally, or partia!ly hidden.

The <_ _> focusing frame may cover only part of the face.

When you press <,_-> straight down or press <@>, the AF mode will

switch to Lhe Live mode tp.2O7). You can tilt <_,> to move the AF point.

Press <,_;,> straight down again or press <_'_> to return to the _ (face

detection) Live mode.

Since AF is not possible with a face detected near the edge of the

picture, the <[ _> will be grayed out. Then if you press the shutter button

halfway [he center AF point <[_>will be used to focus.

® Focusing wiii take slightly longer.

@ Even when focus has been achieved, pressing the shutter button

halfway wiii focus again.

@ The image brightness may change during and after the AF

operation.

@ if the light source changes while the Live View image is displayed,

the screen may flicker and focusing may be difficult, if this happens,

stop the Live View shooting and autofocus under the actual light

source.

+ If you press the <O,> button in the Live mode, the image will be

magnified at the AF point. If focusing is difficult in the magnified view,

return to the normal view and autofocus. Note that the AF speed

may differ between the normal and magnified views.

+ If you autofocus in the Live mode's normal view and then magnify

the image, the focus may no longer be correct.

+ In the _ Live mode, pressing the <O,> button will not magnify the

image.

+ tn the Live rhode op _ (face detection) Live mode; if you Shoot a

+ periphera!subject and it is s!ight!yoUtof focus, aim the centerAF point

over the subjecttQfocus, thentake the picture.
