MEMORY CARD

This camera abides by SanDisk memory card specifications. These memory

cards are sold separately and should be taken into careful consideration

before purchasing. While all SanDisk memory cards (including SanDisk

Standard, SanDisk Extreme Capacity, and SanDisk High Capacity) will

work in this camera, you much check to make sure the device transferring

your pictures/videos is compatible. This may include having a card reader

and updated operating system.

CHARGING THE BATTERY

This camera includes a rechargeable battery pack, however, this battery is

not charged upon purchase. In order to use the camera, the battery must be

charged. To charge the battery, use the included battery charger.

Insert the battery into the charger, aligning the arrow on the battery and

charger. If the battery does not fit easily into the charger it is being inserted

incorrectly. Realign the arrow on the battery with the charger, and try again.

After the battery is inserted properly into the charger, plug the charger into a

power outlet. To do this, flip the plug out of the charger and plug the charger

into the power outlet.

The charger light turns orange when the battery is being charged. The

charger light turns green when the battery is fully charged. Remove the

battery from the charger and insert it into the camera.

CAPTURING

The primary overarching feature of this camera is to capture pictures and

videos. The following section includes step-by-step instructions for various

camera procedures.

CAPTURING STANDARD PICTURES

The standard shooting mode for this camera is Smart Auto. This mode

allows the camera to designate the optimal settings for the current

environment. The field of view can be adjusted between shots by adjusting

the zoom wheel. To capture pictures in Smart Auto, follow the steps below.

1. Press the “Power”button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the “Auto” button to cycle through the modes until AUTO is

displayed on the screen.

3. Point the camera at the object intended to be captured.

4. Lightly press the “Capture” button in order to auto-focus the picture.

5. Press the “Capture” button all the way down to take the picture.

CAPTURING VIDEOS

The standard recording mode for this camera is Auto. This mode allows the

camera to designate the optimal setting for the current environment. The

shot can be resized during filming by adjusting the zoom wheel. To capture

video in Auto, follow the steps below.

1. Press the “Power”button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the “Auto” button to cycle through the modes until AUTO is

displayed on the screen.

3. Point the camera at the object intended to be recorded.

4. Press the “Video” button to begin recording.

5. Press the “Video” button again to stop recording.

USING PICTURE MODES

This camera contains various shooting modes for capturing pictures in order

to most accurately represent the user’s needs. “Shoot Portraits” mode is

intended for capturing pictures of people. “Shoot Under Low Light” mode is

intended for poorly lit conditions. “Shoot Fireworks” mode is intended for

capturing pictures of fireworks and other action shots that require less time

focusing. In order to change shooting modes, follow the steps below.

1. Press the “Power” button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the “Auto” button to cycle through the shooting modes until the

desired shooting mode is displayed on the screen.

3. Point the camera at the object intended to be captured.

4. Lightly press the “Capture” button in order to auto-focus the picture.

5. Press the “Capture” button all the way down to take the picture.

USING LONG EXPOSURE

Exposure is the amount of light allowed to reach the captured image. The

level of exposure is determined by the shutter speed. The slower the shutter

speed, the more important it is for the camera to remain absolutely still to

avoid a blurry image. To use a longer exposure time, follow the steps below.

1. Press the “Power” button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the “Auto” button to cycle through the shooting modes until

“Night” mode is displayed on the screen.

3. Press the “Func. Set” button and choose 1” to choose the shutter speed

with the left and right buttons (surrounding the “Func. Set” button).

4. Point the camera at the object intended to be captured.

5. Lightly press the “Capture” button in order to auto-focus the picture.

6. Press the “Capture” button all the way down to take the picture.

USING THE FLASH

A flash can be used for various reasons. It can be used to illuminate a poorly

lit subject. A flash can even be used to provide a unique lighting effect on

the captured image. A proper understanding of the flash can extend a

photographer’s artistic reach. The “Auto” flash option allows the camera to

use the flash automatically when appropriate. The “On” flash option ensures

the camera uses the flash while a picture is captured. The “Slow Synchro”

flash option decreases the shutter speed while also using the flash while a

picture is captured. To use a flash option while capturing pictures, follow the

steps bellow.

1. Press the “Power” button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the “Flash” button to cycle through the various flash options and

stop when the desired option is displayed on the screen.

3. Press the “Func. Set” button to confirm the desired flash option.

4. Point the camera at the object intended to be captured.

5. Lightly press the “Capture” button in order to auto-focus the picture.

6. Press the “Capture” button all the way down to take the picture.

PLAYBACK

Mastering the camera’s playback features enables the user to capture the best

pictures and videos. With full playback knowledge, the user can easily

expand their photography skills by reviewing their captured images and

videos.

VIEWING

After capturing pictures and videos the user may wish to review them on the

camera screen. To view the captured pictures and videos, follow the steps

below.

1. Press the “Power” button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the “Playback” button to enter Playback mode.

3. Press the “Flash” button to view the next image or video.

Note: To watch a video, press the “Func. Set” button twice.

DELETING

After viewing the captured pictures and videos, the user may wish to delete

some. Deleting pictures or videos frees up more space on the memory card,

allowing the user to continue using the camera. However, once an image is

deleted it cannot be undone. Deleting on the go also allows the user to

liberally capture images and video without the fear of wasting film. To

delete captured pictures and videos, follow the steps below.

1. Press the “Power” button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the “Playback” button to enter Playback mode.

3. Press the “Flash” button to view the next image or video.

4. Press the “Delete” button while viewing the image or video intended

to be deleted.

5. Select “Erase” after being prompted on the screen to “Erase” or

“Cancel”.

CROPPING PICTURES

The user may wish to crop pictures while on the go. This provides the user

with smaller sized images in order to free up memory if they choose to

delete the original. Cropping a picture can also provide artistic effects the

user wishes to achieve. To crop captured pictures, follow the steps below.

1. Press the “Power” button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the “Menu” button.

3. Press the “Flash” button to view the next image.

4. Press the “Func. Set” button when the desired picture is displayed.

5. Press the arrow buttons (surrounding “Func. Set”) to adjust the crop

size until the desired size is selected.

6. Select “Ok” when prompted with “Save new image?”

CUTTING VIDEOS

The user may wish to cut or shorten a video while on the go. This provides

the user with smaller sized videos in order to free up memory if they choose

to delete the original. Cutting a video offers an amateur user the opportunity

to shorten a video they started too early, or stopped too late. To cut a

captured video, follow the steps below.

1. Press the “Power” button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the “Menu” button.

3. Press the “Flash” button to cycle through captured videos.

4. Press the “Func. Set” button when the desired video is displayed.

5. Press the arrow buttons (surrounding “Func. Set”) to adjust the video

duration until the desired length is selected.

6. Select “Ok” when prompted with “Save?”

LOCKING PICTURES

Locking a picture protects important pictures from being deleted

accidentally. This allows the user to ensure their best pictures are not deleted

under any circumstance while the picture is locked. The user can still unlock

their pictures, however, this adds another precautionary step before pictures

can be accidentally deleted. With all of the hard work put into capturing a

great picture, the user can rest assured their picture is safe when it is locked.

To lock a picture follow the steps below.

1. Press the “Power” button to turn the camera on.

2. Press the “Menu” button.

3. Press the arrow buttons (surrounding “Func. Set”) to change menu

tabs.

4. Press the arrow buttons to select “Protect”.

5. Press the “Flash” button to cycle through the captured pictures.

6. Press “Func. Set” to lock the displayed picture.

Note: To unlock a picture, press “Func. Set” again.
