Camera User Guide

Before use be sure to read this c including the

3recautions.

This guide will familiarize with how to use the camera

correctly.

Keep the guide handy for future reference,

Choose from 5 levels of image resolution, as follows. For guidelines on how

many shots at each resolution setting can fit on a memory card, see

"Specifications" in the Getting Started guide.

Configure the setting.

Press the @ button, choose Lin the menu,

and choose the desired option (p. 44).

The option you configured is now displayed.

To restore the original setting, repeat this

process but choose L.

_Y Red-Eye Correction

Red-eye that occurs in the flash photography can be automatically corrected

as follows.

Configure the setting.

Press the MENUbutton, choose [Red-Eye

Corr.] on the O tab, and then choose [On]

(p. 45).

Once the setting is complete, @ is displayed.

To restore the original setting, repeat this

process but choose [Off].

_!"._ Red-eye correction may be applied to image areas other than eyes

(if the camera misinterprets red eye makeup as red pupils, for

example).

You can also correct existing images (p. 120).

image Customization Features

2image quality settings are available. For guidelines on the maximum movie

length at each level of image quality that will fit on a memory card, see

"Specifications" in the Getting Started guide.

Configure the setting.

Press the @ button, choose _'_ in the menu,

and choose the desired option (p. 44).

The option you configured is now displayed.

To restore the original setting, repeat this

process but choose _.

indicate image areas not recorded.

_" Checking for Ctosed Eyes

[] is displayed when the camera detects that people may have closed their

eyes.

Configure the setting.

Press the MENUbutton, choose [Blink

Detection] on the I_ tab, and then choose

[On] (p.45).

Shoot.

A frame, accompanied by [], is displayed

when the camera detects a person whose

eyes are closed.

To restore the original setting, choose [Off] in

step I.

When you have specified multiple shots In Lc mode, this function is onlyavailable for the final shot.

Customize shooting functions on the 0 tab of the menu as follows.

For instructions on menu functions, see "MENU"(p, 45).

Deactivating the Lamp

You can deactivate the lamp that lights up to help you focus in low light

conditions when you press the shutter button halfway or press the movie

button, and reduces red-eye when shooting in low-light conditions with the

flash.

Configure the setting.

Press the MENUbutton, choose [Lamp

Setting] on the 0 tab, and then choose [Off]

(p. 45).

To restore the origina_ setting, repeat this

process but choose [On].

/_, Changing the image Display Period After Shots_ _

Change how long images are displayed after shots as follows.

Configure the setting.

Press the MENUbutton, choose [Review] on

the 0 tab, and then choose the desired

option (p. 45).

To restore the original setting, repeat this

process but choose [2 sec.].

2 - 10 sec. Displays images for the specified time.

Hold Displays images until you press the

shutter button halfway.

Off No image display after shots.

Choose a mode matching the shooting scene, and the camera will

automatically configure the settings for optimal shots.

Choose ashooting mode.

Press the ,A_button repeatedly until liVE is

displayed.

Press the @ button, choose LIVE in the

menu, and choose the desired option (p. 44).

Shoot.

@Using the Touch=Screen Panel

Set the camera to lIVE by pressing the A

button, and then touch lIVE in the upper right

of the screen.

To view other shooting modes, touch 4 _ or

quickly drag left or right on the screen.

Touch the desired mode to view a

description, and then touch [OK] to choose

the mode.

Touch _ to return to the shooting mode

selection screen.

_'tl Shoot portraits (Portrait)

Take shots of people with a softening effect.

Specific Scenes

_=_Shoot under low light (Low Light)

Shoot with minimal camera shake and

subject blur even in low-light conditions.

_'_Shoot with snowy backgrounds

(Snow)

Bright, natural-colored shots of people

against snowy backgrounds.

i_{_iShoot fireworks (Fireworks)

Vivid shots of fireworks.

[] Discreet mode

Shoot without activating camera sounds, the

flash, or lamp. Use this mode where camera

sounds, the flash, and lights are prohibited.

(_ In i_{_imode, mount the camera on a tripod or take other measures to

keep it still and prevent camera shake.

Set [IS Mode] to [Off] when using a tripod or other means to hold the

camera still (p. 104).

¥ mode resolution is M(2304 x 1728) and cannot be changed.

_;_ In [] mode, even playback sounds are muted. Sounds of camera operations

are muted, and movie audio is also muted.

Specific Scenes

Brightness/Co|or Customization

Image brightness or colors when shooting can be easily customized as

follows.

Enter lIVE mode.

Follow the steps on p. 68 and choose LIVE.

Configure the setting.

Press the v button to access the setting

screen. Press the Av buttons to choose a

setting item, and then press the ,_, buttons

to adjust the value as you watch the screen.

Press the @ button.

Touch [] to access the setting screen.

Touch a setting item to choose it. As you

watch the screen touch an option to set a

value, and then touch _Z).

Shoot.

Brightness Adjust image brightness as desired. For brighter images, adjust the level

to the right, and for darker images, adjust it to the left.

Color Adjust image color saturation as desired. For more vivid images, adjust

the level to the right, and for more subdued images, adjust it to the left.

Adjust image color tone as desired. Fora warm, reddish tone, adjust the

Tone level to the right, and for a cool, bluish tone, adjust it to the left.
