image Playback

This chapter explains features related to viewing photos

and movies, going into more detail than in Chapter 2

"Basic Shooting and Image Playback." Here you will

find explanations about how to playback and erase

photos and movies with the camera and viewing them

on a TV set.

About images taken with another camera:

The camera might not be able to properly display images captured

with a different camera or edited with a computer or whose file name

was changed.

Search for images quickly with the index display showing four or nine

images on one screen,

_Playback the image.

®_When you press the <l_q> button, the

last image captured will be displayed.

Switch to the index display.

® Press the <[]._ > button.

_y,,The 4-image index display will

appear. The currently-selected image

will be highlighted in a blue frame.

_ Press the <[].Ok> button again to

switch to the 9-image index display.

_ Pressing the <_> button will switch

the display between 9 images, 4

images and one image displayed.

3Select an image.

®_Press the <,_, > key to move the blue

frame to select an image.

_ Turning the <_> dial will displaythe

next screen or previous image.

_ Press <_-_> and the selected image

will be displayed as a single image.

[] Searching for Images Quickly

Jump through Images (Jump display)

With the single image display, you can turn the <_> dial to jump

through the images forward or back according to the jump method that

was set.

Select [Image jump w/Y'_].

® Under the [_:] tab, select [Image

jump will, then press <8>.

*_ Select the jump method.

® Press the <,;, > key to select the

jump method, then press <8>.

.._: Display by date

.._: Display by folder

: Display movies only

_: Display stills only

.._: Display by image rating (p.206)

Turn the <_ > dial to select the

rating.

_Browse by jumping.

_ Press the <1_1> button to playback

images.

®On the single-image display, turn the

<_> dial.

_] ® To search images according to the shooting datel Select [Date].

® To search images according to folder, select [Folder].

_If the card contains both [Movies] and [Sti Is], select either one to

display Only movies or sti!ls.

® If no images match the selected [Rating], browsing through the images

with <_> is not possiblel

Q,/Q, Magnified View

You can magnify a shot image by 1.5x to 10x on the LCD monitor.

Magnified area position

1Magnify the image.

_ During image playback, press the

<_ > button.

_- The image will be magnified.

_;, If you hold down the <_> button, the

image will be magnified until it

reaches the maximum magnification.

_, Press the <[]._> button to reduce

the magnification. If you hold down

the button, the magnification will be

reduced to the single image display.

2Scroll around the image.

_ Use the < ,;, > key to scroll around the

magnified image.

® To exit the magnified display, press

the <EEl> button and the single image

display will return.

[] _ You can turn the _> dial to view another image while the

magnification is maintained.

#_ The image cannot be magnified during the image [eview immediately

afte[ sho0ting.

Rotating the image

You can rotate the displayed image to the desired orientation.

_Select [Rotate].

® Under the [_'] tab, select [Rotate],

then press <_-_>.

2Select an image.

® Press the <41_> key to select the

image to be rotated.

¢ You can also select an image on the

index display (p.202).

_:_j Rotate the image.

_ Each time you press <8>, the

image will rotate clockwise as follows:

90° -_ 270° -_ 0o

® To rotate another image, repeat steps

2 and 3.

To exit and return to the menu, press

the <MENU> button.

Setting Ratings

You can rate images and movies with one of five rating marks: I-*]/I-**]/

[**.7/[**:]/[***:].

,_ Select [Rating].

® Under the [_:] tab, select [Rating],

then press <8>.

_i_ Select an image or movie.

® Press the <41_> key to select an

image or movie to be rated.

® You can display three images by

pressing the <[]._> button. To

return to the single-image display,

press the <_> button.

Rate the image or movie.

® Press the <AT> key to select a

rating.

_y,,The total number of images and

movies rated will be counted for each

rating.

® To rate another image or movie,

repeat steps 2 and 3.

® To exit and return to the menu, press

the <MENU> button.

Setting Ratings

The total number of a rating can be displayed up to 999. If there are 1.000 or

more images for a rating, [###] will be displayed.

Taking advantage of ratings

With [_= Image jump w/_], you can display only the rated images and

q3ovles.

"With [_: Slide show], you can playback only the rated images and

movies.

With Digital Photo Professional (provided software, p.302), you can

select only the rated images and movies.

With Windows Vista and Windows 7, you can see the rating with the file

information display or the provided image viewer.

[] Quick Control During Playback

During playback, you can press the <[]> button to set any of the

following: [on Protect images], [@ Rotate], [_ Rating], [(_ Creative

filters], [B Resize (JPEG images only)], and [.._ Image jump w/_].

For movies, only the functions in bold above can be set.

IPress the <[] >button.

® During image playback, press the

<[] > button.

_y,,The functions settable with Quick

Control will appear on the left of the

screen.

_'_,,_Select a function and set it.

® Press the <AT> key to select a

function.

_y,,The name and current setting of the

selected function are displayed at the

bottom.

® Set it by pressing the <4_> key.

® For Creative filters and Resize, press

<_-_> and set the function. For

details, see page 230 for Creative

filters and page 233 for Resize. To

cancel, press the <MENU> button.

,_./JJExit the setting.

® Press the <[] > button to turn off the

Quick Control icons and function

settings.

To rotate an imagel Set[v: Auto rotate] to ion it_ _1], if [_ Auto rotate] is

set to [on r_l] or [off], the [[_Z Rotate] setting wi!l be recorded to the image,

but the Camera will not rotate the image for display.

[] Quick Control During Playback

® Pressing the <[]> button during the index display Will Switch to the

single-image display and the Quick Control icons wi!l appea r. pressing

the < [] > button again Will return to the index display.

® For mages taken with another camera, se ectab e funct ons may be
