Basic procedure Unpacking Space

Take care when handling the printer as it is very heavy. Do not perform any

operations or procedures other than as described in this document and

instruction manual for this printer.

Make sure that you have sufficient space around the printer for installation.

The following diagram shows the minimum recommended space.

Warning

●Take care when handling the printer as it is very heavy.

●Do not perform any operations or procedures other than as

described in this manual.

●When cutting the strapping bands, take great care because the

cut tips are sharp.

Taking Out the Accessories

Removing the Top Packaging Material

Take out the following accessories.

aThis manual + Ramp pins, bBasket support bar

Take out the following accessories from the top

packaging material.

cInk tanks, dPrint head, eHolder stopper, f3-inch

paper core attachment, gQuick guide, hCD-ROM,

iPower cord

Important

●Do not remove the following parts which are stored in the

accessory drawer at the bottom of the front side of the printer.

After installation, take them out while referring to the Setup

Guide.

Basket cloth, paper output support, top output guide, screw,

Allen wrench, paper handling labels

Remove the left and right top packaging material in the

directions of the arrows. Important

●Check that there are no accessories left inside the top packaging

material.

●Dispose of the removed top packaging material in accordance

with the regulations of your local government.

Removing the Bag

Remove all the tape from the front and rear surfaces (3 locations each), and the left and right sides (2 locations each), and

then remove the bag in the direction of the arrow.

Important

●Do not remove the sheet from underneath the printer. You will remove this after Step 6.

●Dispose of the removed bag in accordance with the regulations of your local government.

Removing the Ramps

Remove the ramps at the top of the pallet in the directions of the arrows.

Note

●The ramps are used in "6. Lowering the Printer from the Pallet."

Removing the Bottom Packaging Material

Have 4 people grasp the carrying grips on the right side

of the printer and gently lift up the right side. Remove the

bottom packaging material in the direction of the arrow.

Caution

●Lifting the printer requires at least 4 people. Take care when

handling the printer as it is very heavy.

●Check that all four casters are locked.

Have 4 people grasp the carrying grips on the left side

of the printer and gently lift up the left side. Remove the

bottom packaging material in the direction of the arrow.

Important

●Dispose of the removed bottom packaging material in

accordance with the regulations of your local government.

Gently support the front face

with your left hand.

Gently support the front face

with your right hand.

Lowering the Printer from the Pallet

Use the slope pins to affix the two ramps that you

removed in "4. Removing the Ramps."

Note

●Since the ramps have the same shape, you can use either one on

the left and right sides.

●The ramp pins are packed in the bag that contains this manual.

●Push the ramp pins all the way in.

Push the sheet into the hole in the side of the pallet.

Do not bend the sheet on the side where the ramps are

affixed, but leave it as-is.

Caution

●If the sheet is not pushed in, your feet may become entangled in

the sheet causing you to fall.

Unlock all four casters.

Important

●Since the printer may move when the casters are unlocked, hold

the printer in place.

Check that the casters are on the ramps, and hold the

printer by the carrying grips and move it slowly in the

direction of the arrow to lower it down the ramps.

Caution

●Since it is a heavy object, this work should be performed as

slowly as possible by multiple people.

●When moving the printer, take care of where your feet are

placed to avoid the casters running over your feet.

Taking Out the Setup Guide

Pull out the accessory drawer.

Remove the Setup Guide that is inside the accessory

drawer.

Important

●After removing the Setup Guide, check that all of the trays are

closed.
