Coffee Maker
Please read theentire instruction manual before use and then save it for future reference.
We reserve theright for any errors in text or images and any necessary changes made
to technical data. In theevent of technical problems or other queries, please contact
our Customer Services (see address details on theback).
Safety
• This product can be used by children aged from 8 years
and above if they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of theproduct in asafe way and understand
thehazards involved.
• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children
unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
• Keep theproduct and its mains lead out of reach of children
under theage of 8.
• Theproduct may be used by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities or persons with alack of
experience or knowledge which could jeopardise their safety,
provided they have been instructed in thesafe operation of
theproduct and understand thehazards involved.
• Never let children play with theproduct.
• Theproduct is only designed for domestic use or under
similar conditions such as in:
- staff canteens, offices and other staff rooms
- holiday homes and chalets
- in hotel rooms and other forms of temporary accommodation
- Bed and Breakfast facilities
• Theproduct must never be immersed in water during cleaning
or in any other circumstances.
• Avoid spilling liquid onto any electrical connectors.
• Theheating element may be hot after use.

• Themains lead should be checked regularly. Never use
theproduct if themains lead or plug is damaged.
• If themains lead is damaged in any way it must be replaced
by aqualified electrician.
• Theproduct is intended for indoor use only.
• Any children present when theproduct is in use must be
closely supervised.
• Always let theproduct cool completely before cleaning it.
Never place any objects onto theproduct when it is in use or
when hot after use.
• Theproduct must only be used as described in this
instruction manual.
• Place theproduct on aflat, non-flammable surface where air
can circulate freely around it.
• Theproduct must not be used while it is in acabinet or similar
enclosed space.
• Never leave theproduct unattended while in use.
• Unplug theproduct immediately should it begin functioning
abnormally. Never attempt to repair or modify theproduct in
any way.
• Do not place theproduct where there is arisk of it falling into
water or other liquids.
• If theproduct has fallen into water or other liquid during use,
do not touch it. Unplug theproduct from theelectrical socket
immediately. Do not try to retrieve theproduct from thewater
with your bare hands.
• Theproduct should only be connected to a230 V AC
electrical socket.
• Make sure that themains lead does not come in contact with
hot surfaces such as cooker hobs.
• Never insert cutlery, tools or similar objects into theproduct.

• Never subject theproduct to water, moisture, shocks or impacts.
• Do not pull or carry theproduct by its mains lead. Do not use
thelead as ahandle and make sure that it is not crushed.
Do not pull thelead around sharp corners or edges.
• Never use theproduct if it, its mains lead or plug is damaged
in any way. Do not use theproduct if you have dropped it
onto thefloor or into water or other liquid.
• Do not open thehousing. Certain unshielded components
inside thehousing carry dangerous voltages. Contact with
these components could result in electric shock.
• Theproduct must only be repaired by qualified service
technicians using original spare parts.
• Theproduct must not be taken apart or modified.

Operating instructions
Before initial use
• Rinse out theglass carafe and filter basket with water beforeuse.
• Before using thecoffee maker you should run themachine through two to three
filtration cycles at full water capacity, but without coffee grounds. Thisshould
also be done when thecoffee maker has not been used for along time, and after
descaling.
• Themeasuring scale on thewater reservoir allows for easy and accurate filling.
Makesure not to exceed themaximum waterlevel.
Brewing
Warning:
• Hot steam will escape from thelid of thefilter holder during brewing. Do not touch
or lift thelid while brewing is in progress. Let thecoffee maker cool before lifting
thelid of thefilter holder.
• Unplug thecoffee maker from theelectrical socket after use.
1. Open thelid and fill thewater tank with thedesired amount of water.
2. Lift thelid over thefilter holder and insert asize 1×4 paper filter or theincluded
reusable filter.
3. Put thedesired amount of ground coffee into thefilter and close thelid.
4. Close thecarafe lid and place thecarafe onto thehotplate. Thecarafe must be
positioned correctly in order for thedrip-stop mechanism on thefilter holder to
function correctly.
5. Plug thecoffee maker into anelectrical socket and press [ ] to switch it on.
Theindicator light inside thepower switch will light when thecoffee maker is
switched on.
6. Wait until all thewater has run through thefilter before trying to remove thecarafe
from thehotplate.
7. Thecoffee maker switches off automatically 40 minutes after it was switched on.
It automatically enters keep-warm mode once brewing is complete.
8. Thecoffee maker can be switched off before the40 minutes has elapsed by
pressing thepower button.
9. Always turn thecoffee maker off after use and unplug it from theelectrical socket.

Care and maintenance
Cleaning
• Always unplug thelead from thepower point and let thecoffee maker cool down
properly before cleaningit.
• Clean thecoffee maker’s exterior using asoft, moistcloth. Useonly mild cleaning
agents, never solvents or corrosive chemicals.
• Hand wash theglass carafe with alittle washing up liquid and hand dry it with
akitchentowel.
Descaling
• For optimal performance, your coffee maker should be descaled regularly.
• If asubstantial amount of scale is allowed to build up removal will be extremely
difficult even when using adescalingagent. Scalecan also cause leaks in
thebrewing mechanism. Werecommend that thecoffee maker be descaled after
every thirty to fortyuses. Fordescaling you can use amixture of white vinegar
andwater:
1. Mix 2–3 tablespoons of white vinegar (12%) with anamount of cold water equal to
thecoffee maker’s maximum capacity.
2. Pour this solution into thetank. Insert afilter into thefilter basket without coffee.
3. Turn on thecoffee maker and allow it to run through acomplete filteringcycle.
Repeat if necessary. Conduct this descaling process in awell ventilated area and
avoid breathing in theresultingfumes.
4. To clean thecoffee maker after descaling you should run themachine through
2–3filtration cycles using clean water filled to full capacity.
Responsible disposal
This symbol indicates that this product should not be disposed of with
general household waste. This applies throughout theentire EU. In order
to prevent any harm to theenvironment or health hazards caused by
incorrect waste disposal, theproduct must be handed in for recycling
so that thematerial can be disposed of in aresponsible manner. When
recycling theproduct, take it to your local collection facility or contact
theplace of purchase. They will ensure that theproduct is disposed of in
anenvironmentally sound manner.
