3.0 Understanding your RZ1
The RZ1 receiver unit uses a combination of coloured LEDs to indicate
the current operating mode/output status. For the purpose of this
document the indicator lights will be split into two distinct groups;
CHANNEL LEDs and PROGRAMME LED. More information is listed
below together with explanations of each of the LED colour states.
Programme

4.0 Connecting devices to the RZ1
To establish a connection with another Z-Wave enabled unit (i.e. RET
BZ), the RZ1 must be placed into its PROGRAMME MODE.
Once the RZ1 is in PROGRAMME MODE, each channel will present
whether it has an existing binding in the following way:
Channel LED RED = unbound/no device present.
Channel LED OFF = Channel successfully bound/ device located and
communication established.
To establish communication and bind a device to the RZ1:
1. Press and release PROG button. The PROG LED will light up
RED.
2. Channels with no devices bound will show RED LED as well.
3. Press the button for the channel you wish to bind, the LED will
ash RED slowly.
4. Press the ‘include initiator’ button on the wireless device to be
connected to the RZ1 (On some devices you may need to press
and hold the include initiator button for up to 10 seconds).
5. Once binding has nished the LED for the channel just bound
will go out indicating success. If there was an error in the binding
process the PROG LED will ash ORANGE rapidly. If this occurs
acknowledge the error by pressing the PROG button and return
to step 1 to begin the process again.
6. Press PROG to return to normal operating mode (PROG LED
shows GREEN).

Occasionally you may need to remove a thermostat or other Z-Wave
device from the RZ1 receiver. To do this, follow the procedure below:
1. Press PROG to set the RZ1 into PROGRAMME mode.
2. Press the button for the associated channel to be un-bound/
disconnected (RED channel LED will ash).
3. Press the ‘exclude initiator’ button on the device to be removed
(On some devices you may need to press and hold the include
initiator button for up to 10 seconds).
4. When the device has been removed, the RED LED for that
channel will illuminate continuously.
5. Press PROG to return to normal operating mode.
4.1 Disconnecting devices from the RZ1
4.2 Include devices to the network,
not using the RZ1 relay output
If you wish to include a device to the network but not use the relay
function of the RZ1, follow this procedure:
1. Press the PROG button the PROG LED should turn RED.
2. Press the PROG button for at least 3 seconds or until the PROG
LED goes out.
3. Press and release within 3 seconds the PROG button, the PROG
LED should ash RED slowly indicating that an inclusion has
started.
4. Begin the inclusion process on your remote device.
5. If the process is successful the PROG LED will show solid RED.
Press PROG to return to normal operating mode.
6. If unsuccessful the PROG LED will ash ORANGE quickly. Press
the PROG button to return to step 1 and try again.
7. Once the inclusion is successfully completed, press the PROG
button to return to normal operating mode.

4.3 Exclude devices not using the RZ1 relay
output from the network
If you already have a primary controller in the network and wish to
add the RZ1 as a secondary controller, follow the steps below: -
1. Place the RZ1 into programme mode by pressing the PROG
button (Programme LED will turn RED)
2. Activate the include/bind initiator on the primary controller in
the network.
3. Press and hold the programme and channel buttons until the
RED LED ashes slowly indicating that inclusion as a secondary
controller has been started.
4. The RZ1 will attempt to connect to the network.
5. Once the RZ1 has successfully been incorporated into the
network, the programme LED will return to its continuously on
RED state.
