PREPARATION FOR USE

' lnserting the Batteries

. lnsert Batteries for Radio

1. Open the lid of the battery compartment which is at the back of

the radio.

2. lnsert 3 AA dry batteries(or re-chargeable batteries) making sure

that they are correctly oriented and switch on the radio.

3. Close the lid of the battery compartment.

r lnseÉ Battery for MP3

1. Open the lid of the battery compartment which is at the back of

the MP3.

2. lnsert the supplied N|-MH battery making sure that it is correctly

oriented and switch on the MP3.(You can remove the battery of

MP3 by patting on the soft surface).

3. Close the lid of the battery compartment.

Note: When use MP3 and Radio combined, MP3 is powered

from the radio, but also needs the internal battery

remaining installed.

Notes on Using Batteries

I Never charge the dry batteries. They get hot, cause to burn or even explode

a Don't use the new and old batteries or different kind of batteries

together.

a To prevent leakage, take out the batteries if you don't use the unit for a

long time.

a Don't plug in the adaptor while using the batteries as a powersupply.

i) Never put the chargeable batteries and coins or other metal together,

as a shortcircuit could occur causing heat, fire or explosion.

PREPARATION FOR USE

I Connecting the Power-adaptor to the Radio

1. Plug the supplied adaptor into an AC outlet.

2. Plug the other port of the adaptor into the (DC Jack" of the unit.

o When using the external adaptor, it is normal that the adaptor

gets warm.

I When using the external adaptor, the batteries will be switched

off automatically.

a Plug out the adaptor when not using.

a lf you use the external adaptor for a long time, please remove

the batteries from the radio to prevent leakage.

a Only use the supplied adaptor otherwise damages may occur.

CONNECTING MP3 TO THE RADIO

Combined Using Radio:

1. Please pay attention to the display while operating.

2. Connect MP3 to the radio correctly, make sure that the MP3 is

inserted completely.

3. lnsert batteries into radio and MP3 as well.

I Setting the Clock

ln power off status, press " p " shortly to enter the setting

mode. When "small display" appears, press the button again

and set the time.

I Power On/Power Off/Ghange Working Mode

1. Power On: Press < E-l] > shofly to turn on ihe unit and enter

the radio mode. ú

2. Power Off: Press < - > shortly to turn off the radio.

3. Close the main display: Press < l" -r > long to close/open the

main display in the radio mode. When closing, that's to say, you

are using the radio independently. $\

4. Switch work mode: ln radio working mode, press < &Q >

shortly to go into MP3 working mode. ln MP3 working mode,

press < H*# t shortly to go into radio operating mode.

1. Lock: Press < @ > long and the lock icon + appears on the

small display.

2. Unlock: Press < @ t tong, the lock icon disappears.

Enter the main menu in radio operating mode by pressing ,, lFl'f

for a short time to pop up the radio main menu:

Press <Fil > or <f;E> shortly to select menu.

Press < @ > shortly to enter the next menu.

Press <llll > shortly to exit.

o Search Stations

Memory

There are one hundred memories, each one can save four

frequencies.

1. Select search mode:After entering the radio's main menu,

select íSearch" , press < lt6-'l > shortly to enter.

2. Select (Memory', , press < [E-'ì > shortly to confirm.

Press < [!;l > or < f&l > shortly to select

a memory.

Step

Step: You can search for broadcast staiions in the different bands.

1 . Select searching mode:After entering the main menu select

" Search " . Press < 116] > shortly to enter the selecting mode.

2. Select íStep" , press <llE-l > shortly to confirm.

Press .ft;l t or <f;l > shortly to search

a receivable broadcast station manually.

Press <fl*-l > or <f;;l > shortly to search

the station automatically(will stop searching when reaching the

strong signal). Press <lliil> shortly to FM band.

Press <ll:-r> shortly to switch to LW , MW band; press <@ >

shortly to SW band; press shortly repeatly to convert among the

common meter bands.

3. Enter LW: ln MW band, first input LW frequency (only 50-

510KHz), then use the r'Tuning Knob" (or press < F;l > or

< f iil > shortly) to search.

. Station

Browse

Browse: Look over the receivable broadcast stations without any

affect on the current working.

1 . Enter the radio main menu,then select 'rStationt' , press

<ltE--ì > shortly to go into the next menu.

2. Select íBrowse" , press < llE--l> shortly to confirm.

Press <llFl> or <fi-ll > shortly to browse

the station;

Press . F;;lt or < E > shortly to browse

stored frequencies within one memory.

Press < F-] > shortly to exit from the menu.

Store

Store: You can store the found broadcast stations and recall them

in the memory"

1. Search for a broadcast station.

2. Enter the radio main menu, select a station and presscllE-l>

shortly to enter ihe next menu.

3. Select rrstore" and press < f:Ell> shortly to enter the selecting

mode. Press .ll";l t or . f-i,ì t shortly to choose

a memory name;

Press <El t or < [-ìi]-ll > shortly to choose

a memory and the new frequency will

replace the old frequency.

4. Press < F-6-l> shortly to store, press < E > shortly to unstore

and exit.

Delete

Delete: You can delete a stored frequency if you don't want to

listen to the broadcast station anymore.

1. Enter the radio's main menu to select (Station" , press <[E--l t

short to enter the next menu.

2. Select nDeletet' and press < [6-ì> shortly to enter the selecting

mode.

Press < ll;l > or <l-*rl > shortly to select

the memory name;

Press <[iF-l > or <E> shortly to search

for the broadcast station you want to delete

3. Press < FE--l > shortly to confirm the deleting.

Note: To delete or change a memories name, please refer to the

procedure of changing the FREQ.TXT file.

lmport: Connect to a PC, the unit is able to import a FREQ.TXT

file.

1. Edit the FREQ.TXT file which you want to import into the radio.

2. Connect your unit to the PC.

3. Enter the radio main menu íStationr, , press < [E-ì> shorfly to

enter the next menu.

4. Select r'lmport" , press <[6'l > shortly

to confirm.

. Recorder

Recorder: You can record from a radio program with your

MP3-Player.

1. Enter the radio's main menu, select r.Recordert and press

< F6ll> shortly to select a kbps rate (a quality level).

LCD

LCD: You are able to change the parameter of the LCD screen.

1. Enter the radio main menu, select íSetting, and press < lt6:ì >

shortly to enter the setting mode.

2. Select íLCD" and press < IFF-I > shortly. You can adjust the

backlight time, the contrast and the screen saver.

Press <f,IF"".ì > shortly to enter the next

menu.

Backlight time: You can select the period of the lightening.

Contrast: You can adjust the contrast.

LCD screen saver: You can open or close this function.

3. Press < f*6-l> shortly to confirm.

Auto Off

Auto Off: You can choose the auto off time. When reaching the

auto off time, the radio will turn off automatically.

1. Enter the radio main menu, select ísetting', and press <lgFll >

shortly to enter the setting mode.

Select íAuto Offt' and press <llF-l > shortly to enter selecting

mode.

Time: You can adjust for clock, or set the alarm to turn on/off, etc.

1. Enter the radio main menu, select r.Setting, and press

< la6l> shortly to enter setting mode.

2. Select (Time,t, press <l:E-l> shorflytoenterthe selecting mode,

select &Clock" .

Press < lSrll > or < f;t > shorfly to select.

Press < 116.l > Shortly to enter the next menu

3. Press <llEl > shortly to enter the time setting mode. For direct

entry press <l ol > shortly.

Note: You can not adjust Y/M/D in this menu. please look in

FREO.TXT forÍùrther expÍadétion.

Alarm 1

1. Enter the radio's main menu to select ..Setting', , press < fI6-11

shortly to enter the setting mode.

2. Select (Timett , press <llFl > shorfly to enter the selecting

mode, select ,.Alarm 1" .

. Turn On Time: Press <0-9> button shorfly to input the time direcfly,

. Turn On Frequency: Firstly press the band button to select the band

you desired, then press <0-9> button to input the frequecncy direcily.

lf you want to acquiesce the previous default, press < Fl,l> shorfly

to enter the next setting option (Open/Close).

' Open/Close: Press < 116l > shortly, show c $ z 1, open and r3 qE,,

is close. Press <E> shorfly to enter the next setting option (Exit).

. Exit: Setting reveal this .( L,, place, press <Ll6-l > shorfly to exit;

press <F > shortly to continue and enter the next setting option

(Set Turn On Status).

. Select Turn On Status: É turn on and enter the radio mode; gÉE

turn on and enter the radio mode, at the same time the radio

records; / turn on and the buillin MIC records; ) turn on and

play the music. Press <fl6l> shorily to change the selection, the

next setting option is Turn On Vblume.

. Turn On Volume: Press < @ t and . O > shorfly to adjust, the

highest is 40 levels. After setting it, press <l-*-:liì> shorfly to enter

the last setting option (Auto Off).

. Auto Off: Press <0-9> button to input the time (two numbers) and then

exit the setting automatically. lf you want to acquiesce the previous

default, press <[4]> shorily to exit.

r Charge(Radio Charge)

Before charging, connect the AC adaptor correctly and insert the

rechargeable batteries.

Method One:

With the radio turned off, press < @ > shortly to enter radio

charge.

Method Two:

1. Enterthe radio main menu, select (Settingt' and press <l&-ì >

shortly.

2. Select (Charge' and press

t Tuning into a station

You can make the radio signal stronger by extending the

anternna, changing the direction of the antenna or the position

of the unit. The reception also improves if an external soft

antenna connects to the unit.

. Directfrequency entry

Finding a broadcast station directly with the frequency.

1. Press < l,Fl > shortly to delete frequency from the display and

continue searching.

2. Press <band button> to select a band. Example: For FM you

have to Press <Fi'--l > shortly.

3. Press <0-9> button shortly to input the frequency.

Example: lnput <1> <0> <7> <1> to get the frequency

FM107.1 MHz.

4. Press < [e > to confirm.

o Knob Searching

Normal tuning using the tuning knob

Using the tuning dial you can tune your radio to any station. You

can setthe tuning to coarse orfine steps, by pressing then button

located above the tuning dial. Each time the button is pressed it

switches from fine to coarse to off. Off disables the tuning dial

such preventing the curreni frequency to be changed

unintendedly.
