1 Introduction
DAWG checks the spelling of words you type in and offers corrections based on phonics. It even
includes a puzzle−solver "wildcard" search that allows you to type in a question mark "?" for any
letters you don't know. DAWG also features an word families and an anagram maker, which
shows you how the letters of your entry can be rearranged to form other single words.
NOTE: DAWG does not provide definitions for words. It contains only a word list. It also does
not include any word games, although it may be used to assist you with such word puzzles and
games.

1.2 Installing the Application
Send the "dawg.8xk" file to your calculator using a graph link. You must have a link;
applications cannot be typed in by hand. Detailed instructions on installing this and other
applications are available at education.ti.com/guides. Follow the link to Flash installation
instructions. Information on installation error messages may be found in your calculator's
guidebook. This guidebook is also available online at the link above.
1.3 Starting and Quitting
To begin, press [APPS] and then select DAWG from the list. The application always starts in
spell checking mode. To access the main menu, push [CLEAR]. Each mode is explained in the
next section.
You may press [2nd]QUIT at any time to exit the application.

2 Using the Application
Enter words by simply typing them on the keypad; ALPHA is locked on while you type. If you
make a mistake, push [DEL] or the left arrow. When you wish to search, push [ENTER] (or, in
some cases, 2nd[ENTER], as explained below).
To scroll through the results list, use the up and down arrow keys. To scroll a page at a time, use
[ALPHA]Up and [ALPHA]Down. You may enable A−LOCK and then hold down Up or Down
to scroll through many pages quickly. When you are done looking at choices, press [CLEAR] to
enter another word.
2.1 Spell Checker
Enter the word you would like to spell check and press ENTER. If you have correctly spelled
your word, you will be notified; otherwise, up to eight suggestions will be offered. DAWG may,
in some cases, suggest splitting words into two.
If the spell checker tells you that you spelled a word correctly, but you know that you have
misspelled it (for example, REED but you want READ), you may instead push [2nd]ENTER
after you have entered your word. This will always show you suggestions.
2.2 Puzzle Solver
The puzzle solver allows simple wildcard searches of the word list. It may be used for assistance
in crossword puzzles and similar word games. Enter a word, using ? (located on the (−) key) in
the place of any unknown letters. Push ENTER when done. The application will show a list of
matching words.
You may also add a wildcard * at the end of your word. This is accomplished by pushing
[2nd]ENTER instead of ENTER when you are done entering your word. For example, entering
"B?D" and then [2nd]ENTER is like a wildcard search for "B?D*", and will yield BAD, BADE,
BADGE, BADGER, and so on.

2.3 Anagram Maker
The anagram maker is primarily for fun, and will show you how the letters of your entry can be
rearranged to form single words. For example, entering TEXAS will return both TEXAS and
TAXES.
If you push [2nd]ENTER instead of ENTER in this mode, the application doesn't require all of
the letters to be in the anagrams; for example, entering TEXAS and then pushing [2nd]ENTER
will add words such as AXES and EATS (which use only 4 of the letters), SEA and AXE (which
use only 3), and so on.
2.4 Word Families
This will allow you to quickly see the various forms of a word. For example, entering SWIM
will produce SWIM, SWIMMER, SWIMMING, SWIMSUIT, and so on. This mode does not
have any special functionality if [2nd]ENTER is pushed.

3 Additional Information
How much RAM you have free will affect the number of results that DAWG is able to return. If
you would like more results, try freeing some RAM. With a totally empty RAM, DAWG can
return more than 2500 results (if there were that many results for your search). Even with low
memory, however, DAWG will return at least about 50 results.
3.1 Word List
The word list used by this program is a combination of multiple word lists, trimming techniques,
as well as editing by hand. All source word lists are in the public domain.
3.2 Deleting the Application
To delete the application, press [2nd]MEM and select Mem Mgmt/Del. Select Apps and move
the cursor to DAWG. Press [DEL] and select Yes to delete the application.
3.3 Technical Support
Technical support is limited to assistance with the functionality of this application. For help with
