Quick Start Guide

Console Cable

The type of the power cord depends on the country that the switch will be

installed.

UK-type Power Cord EU-type Power Cord

USA/Taiwan-type Power Cord AU/NZ-type Power Cord

If any of these items is found missing or damaged, please contact your local

supplier for replacement.

LED Status Explanation

On (Red) An alert for system failure due to overheating

or wrong voltage.

Monitor Off The device is in normal condition and running

normally.

Blinking

(Green) The power is over (>) 80% watts PoE power

budget.

Alert

(for P2280x) Off The power is under (<) 80% watts PoE power

budget.

On (Green)

The switch finishes system booting and the

system is ready.

Blinking

(Green) The switch is powered on and starts system

booting.

SYS

Off The power is off or the system is not ready /

malfunctioning.

On (Green)

The device is powered on and running

normally.

PWR Off The device is not ready or is failed.

On (Green)

The port is supplied with PoE power.

Port 1 ~ 24

(PoE, for P2280x)

Off No PoE power is supplied on the port.

On (Green)

The device is connected with 1000Mbps.

(Amber) The device is connected with 10/100Mbps.

Blinking The system is sending or receiving data

through the port.

Port 1 ~ 24

(GbE RJ45)

Off The port is disconnected or the link is failed.

Port 25 ~ 28 On (Green)

The device is connected with 1000Mbps.

Port 25 to 28

(SFP+)

Port 1 to 24 (GbE RJ45)

Port 1 to 24 (PoE)

On (Blue) The device is connected with 10Gbps.

(Amber) The device is connected with 10/100Mbps.

Blinking The system is sending or receiving data

through the port.

(SFP+)

Off The port is disconnected or the link is failed.

Interface Description

Port 1 ~ 24 (GbE RJ45)

Port 1 ~ 24 (PoE, for P2280x)

Port 1 to Port 24 can be used for Ethernet

connection and PoE connection, depending on

the device connected.

Port 25 ~ 28 (SFP+) Port 25 to Port 28 are used for fiber

connection.

Console Used to perform telnet command control.

Power inlet for AC input (100~240V/AC,

50/60Hz).

The following limitation is suitable for VigorSwitch P2280x

This section will guide you to install the switch through hardware connection and

configure the switch’s settings through web browser.

Before starting to configure the switch, you have to connect your devices

correctly.

Note

Power the device to this switch and get 54V power source through

Cat. 5e Cable.

Use a Cat. 5e twisted-pair cable to connect a PoE device to the port (1~24)

of this switch.

The switch will supply power to PoE Device over the twisted-pair cable.

Please note that Power Device must comply with IEEE 802.3af/at.

Other PCs, servers and network devices can be connected to the switch using

a standard ‘straight through’ twisted pair cable.

(Take VigorSwitch P2280x as an example)

The switch can be installed easily by using rack mount kit.

1. Fasten the rack mount kit on both sides of the VigorSwitch using specific

screws.

2. Then, install the VigorSwitch (with rack mount kit) on the 19-inch chassis by

using other four screws.

In this section, we take VigorSwitch G2280x as an example:

Before using the switch, perform the following steps:

1. Set up a physical path between the configured the switch and a PC by a

qualified UTP Cat. 5e cable with RJ-45 connector.

If a PC directly connects to the switch, you have to setup the same subnet mask for

PC and the switch. Default values of the managed switch are listed as follows:

IP Address 192.168.1.224

Subnet Mask

255.255.255.0

DHCP Client Enabled (On)

Username admin

Password admin

2. After configuring correct IP address on your PC, open your web browser and

access switch's IP address.
