Additionally,eachtrackfeaturesaresetinput(6)forfurthersynchronization
flexibility,mutebutton(1)forperformancecontroland8patternslotsthatcanbe
storedandrecalledlaterforeachofthetracks.
OPERATING MODES
Runningorderhastwomainoperatingmodes:
TRACKEDITMODEisaccessedbyflippingtheTRACKswitch(8)eitherto
theleft(TRACK1)ortotheright(TRACK2).Inthismodeyouareabletocreate
(enter)newpatternsoreditthemusingpatternmodifiers.
LIVEMODEisaccessedbykeepingtheTRACKswitch(8)inthemiddle
position.Thismodeisthemainperformancemodewhereyoucanmutetracksand
save/recallpatternsforeachtrack.

PATTERN TYPES
101STYLEwith16thnotesinputmode(enteringSTEPsandRESTs)with
manualorCVcontrollableamountoftriggerrepeatswhentheactivetriggerstep
happens,internalpersteptriggerprobabilityandratcheting.
EUCLIDEAN,wherewesetEuclideantotalnumberofstepsinthecircleand
amountoftriggershappeninginthatcircle.ThepatternmodifiersincludeEuclidean
patternrotationeitherinternallyorCVcontrolledandinternalglobaltrigger
probabilityofthepattern.
101-STYLE SEQUENCING:
Thispatternmodeisinspiredbyoldschoolsequencingmethodsusedinthe80s,
allowinguserstocreatepatternsveryquicklyontheflywitharbitrarypatternlength
(128stepsmaximum).Theoperationisverysimpleandinvolvestwotypesofsteps,
namely:ACTIVEandRESTsteps.ActivestepscreateatriggerandReststeps
createsilence(pause)attrack1&2outputsjacks(9).Byusingthesetogetheryou
canbuildanytypeoftriggersequence.Thiswayyoucanalsocreateoddlength
patternsthatwillrotateintimeandgiveextradynamics,alsoknownaspolymeters.
ToinsertanactivestepallyouneedtodoispresstheSTEPbutton(S),tocreatea
ReststeppresstheRESTbutton(R).Forexampleifyouwanttocreateasimple

RATCHETING AND PROBABILITY
Nowthatyouunderstandthelogicbehindhow101stylesequencingworks,let’s
divedeeperintothepatternmodifiers,namelyperstepprobabilityandratcheting.
RATCHETINGPERSTEP:thisworksthesameastheprobabilityperstep,
butnowwecansettheratchetingamountperstepwithREPEATS1forTRACK1
andREPEATS2forTRACK2.Theratchetingvaluecanbesetintherangeof07,
where0meansthestepwillhavenoratchets(onlyoriginaltrigger)andvalueof7
meaningthatyouwillhave1normaltrigger+7ratchets.
Bydefault,theratchetingvalueissetto0andjustaswithprobability,tosetthe
ratchetingamountperstepforTrack1youfirstneedtoenterTrackmode,tweak
theRepeats1knobandinsertanactivestepwithStepbutton.Everynextactive
stepwillborrowtheratchetingvaluefromthelasttimeyoutweakedtheRepeats1
knob,soifyouonlywant1steptohaveratchetingenabled,makesuretoturnthe
Repeats2knobfullyCCWbeforeyouinsertanotheractivestep.

PROBABILITYPERSTEP:thismodifiercanbeaccessedinTRACK
MODEbyREPEATS2knobforTRACK1andREPEATS1knobforTRACK2.
Bydefault,theprobabilityissetto100%,meaningthatanyactivetriggerthatis
insertedinthepatternwillfire100%ofthetime.Ifyouwanttosetadifferent
probabilityforanactivestepforTRACK1,youhavetofirsttweaktheREPEATS2
knobandtheninsertanactivestepusingtheSTEPBUTTON(REPEATS2atfully
CCWis0%probability,at12:0050%andfullyCW100%).
Everynextactivestepthatyouinsertwillhavetheprobabilityvalueequaltothelast
changeoftheREPEATS2knob,soifyouwantotherstepstohave100%
probabilityyouwillneedtoreturntheREPEATS2knobtofullyCWposition.This
functionalityforTRACK2isthesame,butnowREPEATS1knobsetsthe
probabilityvalueinstead.
NoteonRepeatsknobsforTRACK1andTRACK2inTRACKMODE:tonotget
confusedwhichknobcontrolswhatforeachtrackyoucanthinkofRepeats1and2
knobsasprimaryandsecondaryparameters.ForTRACK1theprimarymodifieris
RATCHETING,henceREPEATS1controlsthisvalue.ForTRACK2theprimary
modifierisalsoRATCHETINGandiscontrolledbyREPEATS2.
SimilarlyforPROBABILITY,forTRACK1thisisasecondaryparameterandis

controlledbyREPEATS1.Generallyspeaking:patternmodifiersareinvertedfor
TRACK1andTRACK2.
OnceyouarebacktoLIVEMODE(TRACKswitchinthemiddleposition)REPEATS
1andREPEATS2knobs(4)controlthenumberofsteprepeats.Steprepeatsadd
extrastepsafterthelastactivestep;donotconfusethiswithratchetsthatadd
(stretch)extratriggerswithinasinglestep.Byaddingsteprepeatsyouare
extendingtheoverallpatternlengththatcanleadtomanydifferentvariationsand
overlapsofthepatternsyoucreate,thisiswhereTRACKRESETS(6)areyourfriend
tokeepthepatterncyclessynchronizedformoreofastructuralfeeling.
TUPLET MODE
WhentheRunningOrderisexternallyclocked,youcansettheDIVKNOBtofully
CCWpositionnamedTUPLETS.Thiswillswitchthewayrepeatsbehaveinthetime
domain.Usuallyrepeatsaddextrastepstoyoursequence,butinTUPLETMODE
theyarestretchedwithinonebeatorwithinone¼measure.Thisallowsyouto
createnewtypeofpolyrhythmsthatareusuallyveryhardtoachieveusingmodular
synthesizers.AndusingREPEATSCV1&2inputscanmakethechanges
dynamically.
EXAMPLE:TUPLETMODEengaged.IfyousettheREPEATSknobto3o’clock,
theserepeatswillplayastriplets.IfyousetREPEATSto4o’clock,youwillget
quadrupletsandsoon.Thismodeisglobal,soifbothtracksaresetto101style
patternmode,thenthefunctionalityofREPEATSKNOBS(4)forbothtrackswill
changetoTUPLETmode.

EUCLIDEAN SEQUENCING
ThesecondpatterntypeiscalledEUCLIDEAN,whichisprogrammedbysetting3
mainparameters:EUCLIDEANCIRCLELENGTH,EUCLIDEANFILLAMOUNTand
PATTERNOFFSETROTATION.
ToaccessthismodeyoufirsthavetoentertheTRACKMODEbyflippingthe
TRACKswitch(8)toeitherTRACK1orTRACK2andholdpressingtheSTEP/
RESTbuttonforTRACK1or2respectivelyforafewsecondsuntilthemainLEDon
thetoplightsupinfuchsiacolor.
Bydefault,theEUCLIDEANCIRCLELENGTHissetto16steps,butthiscanbe
overwrittenbyeitherpressingtheSTEPbuttontoincrementthepatternlengthby
+1steporbypressingtheRESTbutton,whichwillincrementthepatternlengthby
+16steps.Thiswayitiseasytocreatelongerpatterns,yetstillhaving1step
precisionwhereyouneedit.
TosettheEUCLIDEANFILLAMOUNT(thenumberofequallyspacedactivesteps
withintheEuclideancircle),switchbacktotheLIVEMODEandnowREPEATS1will
settheFILLAMOUNTforTRACK1.IfTRACK2isalsosettoEuclideanmode,then
REPEATS2willcontroltheFILLAMOUNTforTRACK2.
IftheRepeatsknob(4)isfullyCCW,thenthefillamountwillbe0,meaningthatyou
willnothearanyactivesteps.
EUCLIDEAN PATTERN MODIFIERS
Nowthatyouunderstandthebasicsofthismodelet’sdivedeeperintotheinternal
patternmodifiersavailableinsidetheTRACKMODEforeachofthetracks.Similar
aswiththe101stylepatternmodethereare2internalpatternmodifiers.
ThistimetheprimaryparametercontrolledbyREPEATS1knobforTRACK1isthe
PATTERNROTATIONORPATTERNOFFSET.Thisletsyoushiftyourpatternto
makeitfitrhythmicallywiththeotherpatterns.Forexampleifyouhavethefollowing
EuclideanpatternX000X000,apatternrotationby1stepwillmakeitlooklike
this:0X000X00.
ThesecondpatternmodifierisPROBABILITY,butthistimeitisappliedtoallthe
stepsofthepattern.ForTRACK1thepatternprobabilityissetbyREPEATS2knob
whileyouareinTRACKEDITmode.FullyCCWmeansnoneofthestepswilloutput
atriggerandfullyCWmeanstheprobabilityofeachtriggeris100%.
ForTRACK2thepatternmodifiersarereversed:REPEATS1controlsthepattern
probabilityandREPEATS2controlspatternrotation.
