Chapter 1 Introduction
Overview
Thank you for purchasing Gigabyte AirCruiser G GN-AP01G Wireless Access Point. The GN-AP01G uses
the IEEE 802.11g standard which has 54Mbps bandwidth instead of standard 802.11b or standard Wi-Fi
which has 11Mbps bandwidth. The AirCruiser G GN-AP01G Wireless Access Point supports both 802.11b
and 802.11g clients.
The GN-AP01G Wireless Access Point is able to connect to either IEEE 802.11g or IEEE802.11b.
Providing transmission speeds of up to 54Mbps, the GN-AP01G allows users to share network resources,
retrieve emails, download large files, conduct a video conference, and distribute or display digital photos,
videos or MP3 files.
Furthermore, the Access Point supports up to 128-bit WEP encryption to safeguard your privacy on-line.
GN-AP01G not only enables simple and easy installation and usage, but also provides you useful AP
Manager Configuration Utility and Web-based configuration.

If there are any missing or damaged parts, please contact your local distributor or dealer immediately. If a
replacement unit is needed, return the device with the original packing material, otherwise the warranty will

Chapter 2 QUICK INSTALLATION
System Requirements
Suggested Specifications for Wireless LAN Access Point installation:
•A PC, Notebook or Macintosh Computer with installed 802.11b/g wireless LAN adapter
•An Ethernet router or hub
•Ethernet patch cable
Planning Your Network Environment
You can build your network environment as the picture above. After you set up the access point, you can
surf the internet by wireless from your PC, PDA and Notebook which built-in wireless module.

Hardware Installation
Follow the steps below when installing your Access Point(s).
Before you begin, please keep the following in mind when placing your Access Point(s).
9Select a suitable location to install the Access Point. Assure that the location is away from
any interfering radio signals from devices such as microwave ovens, garage door openers,
vacuum cleaning devices, etc. Please also operate the Access Point in a cool dry place, away
from direct sunlight.
9Position the Access Point appropriately. Signal strength is greatly dependent on your well
placed Access Point. Generally, a centralized area with 360° clear line of sight is the best
location with the antenna in a high position to allow optimal propagation of the signal. The
location of the Access Point greatly influences the signal reception.
Installing the Access Point
Step 1 Turn off all the hardware devices in your network.
Step 2 Connect the Ethernet cable of your router/hub to the LAN port of the Access Point.
Step 3 Plug the power adapter cord into the router’s power jack and then plug the power adapter into a
power outlet.
Step 4 Turn on all the hardware devices in your network. After verifying all the connections, proceed to

Chapter 3 Configuration - Using A
Web-Browser
This section explains the web-based configuration method of setting up the Access Point. Any Internet
Explorer 5.0 or above or Netscape Communicator 6.0 or above may be used to administer the GN-AP01G
AirCruiser G Access Point.
Using Web-based Configuration
Open the web-browser of your choice, and enter the local IP address of the GN-AP01G AirCruiser G
Access Point into the address line of browser. (The factory default local IP is 192.168.1.1) and press Enter.
The screen shown as below will appear. In lowercase letters, enter the default user name and password,
admin, in the User Name and Password fields. Click the OK button.
