INTRODUCTION:
The RX-440 is a wireless receiver/processor which allows the User to trigger
various devices using Intellicam’s wireless sensor platform.
FUNCTIONS:
This programmable module provides the following functions:
•Relay Contact Closure: Time is programmable from 10 to 240
seconds. 1 Amp max.
WIRING DIAGRAM:
The following wiring diagram is the Canon connector pin configuration.
Contact Closure uses the Relay ‘D’ Red Wire and Relay ‘A’ White Wire.
SET UP AND OPERATION:
To use the device, install 4 “AA” batteries in the battery holder. The RED
LED on top will briefly illuminate. If no “runtime” programming is
performed, the Dry Contact will only close briefly (approx. 1-2 seconds).
PROGRAMMING:
To program the RX-440:
1. Press and hold the PROGRAMMING BUTTON until the RED
LED illuminates.
2. Immediately release upon illumination and “tap” the
Programming Button for the number of times corresponding to
the desired Run Time. (One press equals 10 seconds.) Example,
if you want 30 seconds of Contact Closure, press the button 3
times. The RED LED will confirm the programmed Run Time by
flashing 3 times.
3. Once triggered by a sensor, the RX-440 RED LED will remain
illuminated for that programmed Run Time of 30 seconds.
4. NOTE: After the first 10 minutes, the RX-440 RED LED will
automatically turn “off” for covert purposes, and no longer
illuminate.

RANGE TEST MODE:
Range Test Mode is used to verify the maximum RF transmission distance
from the Intellicam Sensor, such as the IR-904 Passive Infrared Sensor, to
the RX-440 Receiver. The Sensor Range Test may be monitored by several
methods. One method is to use the RX-440 itself, the unit can either be
carried while range testing or can be placed near the target area on the
ground, in which case the operator can observe the RED LED on the RX-440
Receiver. There is nothing the operator has to do to the RX-440 Receiver
except apply power from the battery pack.
Screw the TC-1 Sensor Tree Clip into the tree, about 3 to 4 feet above the
ground level and install the sensor. It is best to locate the RX-440 Receiver
on the same side of the tree as the Sensor so that the tree will not block the
RF signal. The best range is achieved with line-of-sight conditions, that is,
with no obstructions coming between the Sensor and RX-440 Receiver.
Position the IR-904 Sensor in the tree mount with the antenna vertical. Aim
the Sensor at the target area. To activate the IR-904, remove the plastic
insulator from the batteries. As soon as power is applied, the sensor’s RED
LED should illuminate once, then flash 3 times for Sensor ID 3 then turn off,
and then flash 5 times for Sensitivity 5. After about a 30 second
stabilization period, the Sensor will automatically go into the Range Test
mode that will last for approximately 2 minutes. After two minutes, the IR-
904 will automatically go into Alarm Mode.
When the IR-904 goes into Range Test mode, it will start transmitting with
the Sensor RED LED flashing at 1 second intervals. Walk away from the
Sensor with the RX-440 Receiver in your hand. The maximum range will be
found when the RED LED on the Receiver stops flashing or becomes erratic.
You should cut this distance in half for a more reliable setup, since
RF/UHF frequencies cannot be predicted with any great certainty
due to absorption and reflections from nearby objects. The Range
Test should involve your hanging the RX-440 Receiver in a suitable bush or
concealment, with appropriate camouflage. If the RED LED flashes on the
RX-440 Receiver become erratic, then you know that you are exceeding the
maximum RF transmission distance. Generally, if distances are kept below
300 feet, there should be little problem with the setup. Factors that degrade
the RF performance will be thick vegetation, buildings, or metal objects. For
longer range applications, repeaters are available that will send the alarm
signal up to several miles if so desired.
Range Test can be repeated if desired by removing, then reinstalling the
batteries on the IR-904 sensor. As stated above, the sensor will flash ID,
then Sensitivity, then automatically go into Range Test mode. Range Test
can be aborted at any time by momentarily pushing the PROGRAMMING
BUTTON. The Sensor will then go into the active Alarm Mode.
