INTRODUCTION
IMPORTANT CLEANING INFORMATION
This thermometer has been carefully developed for accurate, safe, and fast human body
temperature measurements via the ear and forehead. It has also been similarly validated for
object temperature measurements.
This thermometer uses an offset when taking forehead and ear measurements so that the
reading reflects the body’s core temperature.
When used in accordance to the user’s manual, this thermometer can be easily maintained.
Please note that the ear is an ideal site for taking a body temperature measurement. This is
because body temperature is regulated by the hypothalamus, which shares the same blood
supply as the tympanic (ear) membrane.
•Earwax in the ear canal and lipid, oil, or sweat on the forehead may
cause an inaccurate measurement. Please make sure that the ear canal
and/or forehead is clean before attempting a measurement.
•If you clean the ear or forehead, please waiting for 5-10 minutes before
measuring.
•Don’t touch or blow the infrared sensor. A polluted or contaminated
infrared sensor may cause inaccuracy. If you think you have contaminated
the probe sensor, please clean it.
•To clean the sensor, gently wipe its surface with a cotton swab slightly
moistened with alcohol and immediately wipe dry with a clean cotton
swab. After cleaning, allow at least 20 minutes of drying time before
taking temperatures.

Proper technique is critical in order to obtain accurate temperatures. Therefore, in order
to obtain an accurate measurement, please read this manual carefully before using this
thermometer.
• Use of this thermometer is not intended to substitute professional consultation by your
physician. Measurement results are for reference only. Contact your physician about any
known or suspected health concerns.
• The Infrared sensor must be kept clean, dry, and undamaged at all times to ensure
accurate measurements.
•Do not use the ear/forehead measurement mode for measurements other than for
human body temperature.
•Avoid measuring the ear temperature if the ear is inflamed or infected.
•If the temperature of the storage area differs greatly from that of the measuring
area, please allow time for the thermometer to equalize to the current environment’s
temperature. For great differences in environment temperatures, let the thermometer
equalize for 30 minutes before use.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
To ensure accurate measurements, it is very important to keep
the probe tip clean and free of scratches. Finger prints, earwax or
dirt will affect the accuracy of the thermometer. In order to get an
accurate measurement, please clean the probe tip.
Gently wipe its surface with a cotton swab slightly moistened with
alcohol and immediately wipe dry with a clean cotton swab.
Use a soft dry cloth to clean the body of the thermometer. Never
clean the thermometer with an abrasive cleanser, thinner, benzene
or submerge the thermometer into water or other liquids.
After cleaning, place the thermometer in the protective case.
Store it in a clean, dry place at room temperature. Never expose the
thermometer to extreme temperatures, humidity, direct sunlight
or shock.
CARE AND CLEANING

1-800-MEDLINE (633-5463) |medline.com 5
•Keep the thermometer out of the reach of children and pets to avoid inhalation or
swallowing of small parts. Do not allow children to take their temperatures unattended.
Children may not be able to use the device according to the instructions in this user
manual. This thermometer is not a toy.
•Don’t throw the thermometer battery into fire. The battery is likely to explode in fire.
•Don’t store the thermometer in extreme temperature environments (below -4°F /-20°C
or over 131°F/55°C) or or in extreme humidity (below 20% RH or over 90% RH). Storing
the thermometer in these extreme environments may cause inaccuracy.
•Don’t use this product in ear mode inside of a wet ear, such as after showering,
swimming, or bathing. Doing so may damage the ear or thermometer.
•Don’t use the thermometer if it is damaged in any way (for example, the infrared
sensor is broken). The continuous use of a damaged unit may cause injury, improper
results, or serious danger.
•Don’t take apart, repair or change any parts of the unit at any time outside of replacing
the battery.
•Don’t use a mobile phone nearby when the thermometer is in use.
•If your thermometer will not be used on a regular basis, remove battery to prevent
possible damage due to chemical leakage. If the battery does leak, remove carefully.
Do not allow bare skin to touch the leaking fluid.•When using, do not touch the
patient and the battery simultaneously.
•The materials (e.g., ABS) of expected contact with the patient have passed the ISO
10993-10 standards test, meaning that this device will not cause toxicity, allergies, or
irritation from normal use. However, if you have an allergic reaction to any material,
please stop the use of this thermometer immediately and consult your physician.
•Store the thermometer in a dry, clean place. Do not leave the product exposed to any
chemical solvent, lint, dust, direct sunshine or high temperatures.
•If you have any problems with this device, such as setting up, maintaining or using the
thermometer, please contact the customer service department of the manufacturer,
Medline Industries, Inc.
•Please report any unexpected events or reactions while using this device to the
manufacturer.
Caution: This thermometer should not be used adjacent to or stacked with other
equipment. If said equipment must remain in close proximity to the
thermometer being used, it should be monitored in order to verify normal
operation during the time of measurement.

BODY TEMPERATURE
PACKAGE COMPONENTS
Normal body temperature has a range. A person’s normal temperature range tends to
decrease with age. The following table shows normal temperature ranges by age:
The range of what is normal varies from person to person and can be influenced by many
factors, such as time of day, measuring from different sites, level of activity, medications,
emotion, and so on.
It is recommended that you practice with the thermometer on yourself and family members
when you are healthy. This way you know how the thermometer works, and will feel more
confident with the measurements when the same person is ill.

BEFORE USE
1. To achieve accurate measurements, it is very
important to check that the infrared sensor is clean
before each use.
To clean the sensor, gently wipe its surface with a
cotton swab slightly moistened with alcohol and
immediately wipe dry with a clean cotton swab.
After cleaning, allow at least 20 minutes of drying time
before taking temperatures.
2. Please open the battery cover and move the
insulating piece when you use the thermometer for the
first time. After its removal, the thermometer will turn
on automatically, and the LCD display will show similar
to the bottom picture on the left-hand side of this page.
Notes on the LCD Screen:
1) In measuring mode and memory mode, the LCD
display is normal. In waiting mode and setting mode,
the LCD display is reversed.
2) In waiting mode, the LCD display circulates between
time, date, and room temperature.

HOWTO MEASURE FOREHEAD TEMPERATURE
HOWTO MEASURE EAR TEMPERATURE
1. Put on the forehead adaptor before use. Place the
thermometer in your hand as shown on the right, with your
thumb on the button.
Make sure the probe is clean before measuring.
2. Hold the thermometer so that the forehead adaptor is flush
with the center of the forehead, midway between eyebrow and
hairline. Once the device is touching the forehead as indicated,
hold the thermometer steady and press to start the
measurement.
3. Keep the thermometer flat until you hear the temperature
voice announce the completed reading (if the talking feature is
turned on), or until you hear a beep. The back-light will also
light up according to the temperature reading. When the
measurement is complete, the thermometer may be removed
from the head.
4. Read the temperature on the display.
1. Remove the forehead adaptor before use. Place the
thermometer in your hand as shown with your thumb or
forefiger on the button.
Make sure the probe is clean before measuring.
