Intended use
The device is intended for use indoors and outdoors in a private
domestic environment and not for commercial use.

Safety instructions
Children or other individuals who do not know or have no
experience of handling this device, or whose physical, sensory
or mental abilities are restricted, must not use the device with-
out supervision or instruction by an individual responsible for
their safety. Children must never be allowed to play with the
device. Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.

As the device generates heat, its use in the sur-
roundings of all highly inflammable or explosive
liquids or gases is prohibited.
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! Do not touch the
metal grille while the appliance is in operation. A
small residual charge still exists a few minutes after
the device has been switched off.
RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK! The risk of an
electric shock can arise if water from a garden
hose is directed onto the device.
WARNING! The bulb in this appliance cannot be replaced.
Should the bulb no longer function, the appliance must be
disposed of.
Never open or insert anything into electrical fittings or equipment.
Doing this sort of thing can lead to a serious danger to life
from electric shock.
In the event of damage, repairs or other problems with the
device, please contact an electrician.
Do not use the appliance in rooms in which there is a danger
of fire, e.g. rooms in which flammable or explosive vapours or
dusts may be present (e.g. in stables, barns or paint shops).
ATTENTION! When the product is used in an outdoor environ-
ment, it may also kill other kinds of insects including protected
and valuable insects, like bees and butterflies.
Never use the appliance in the immediate vicinity of a bath,
shower or swimming pool.
Safety Instructions for Batteries
Remove the batteries from the device if they have not been
used for a long period.
CAUTION! DANGER OF EXPLOSION! The
batteries must never be recharged!
When inserting the battery, ensure the correct polarity! This is
shown in the battery compartment.
If necessary, clean the contacts on the batteries and on the
device before inserting them.

Remove a spent battery immediately from the device. There is
an increased danger of leaks!
If the above instructions are not complied with, the batteries
may discharge themselves beyond their end voltage. There is
then a danger of leaking. If the batteries have leaked inside
your device, you should remove them immediately in order to
prevent damage to the device!
Batteries must not be disposed of in the normal domestic waste!
Every consumer is obliged to dispose of batteries properly in
accordance with the regulations!
Keep batteries away from children. Do not throw batteries into
a fire. Never short-circuit them or take them apart.
Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and mucous membranes.
Any parts of the body coming into contact with battery acid
should be rinsed off with copious amounts of water and/or a
doctor contacted if necessary!
The batteries may explode if they have been
improperly replaced. Ensure that only batteries of the same
type are used.
Inserting/replacing batteries
To do this, proceed as shown in Fig. B.
Operation
The UV light attracts the insects and contact with the electric high-
voltage grille 4kills or dehydrates them.
Set up the device at ground level on a dry surface in close
proximity to you. Do not set up the device in draughty places.
Otherwise, the insects will not remain on the device.
Switch the device on (Position I) with the ON /OFF switch 2.
The UV lamp lights up, the high-voltage grille receives current.
Any insects that now fly into the high-voltage grille will be killed.
Switch the device off (position O) with the ON/OFF switch if
you do not use it anymore.
Remove the dead insects by tilting the device and shaking lightly.

Note: Remove the batteries from the device if it is not used over a
longer period of time (e.g. in winter). Otherwise, the batteries
might leak and damage the device. You should wear gloves if the
batteries have leaked inside your device. Clean the battery com-
partment and contacts with a dry cloth afterwards.
Cleaning and care
CAUTION! RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK!
For reasons of electrical safety the device must never be
cleaned with water or other liquids or immersed in water.
Switch the appliance off and allow it to cool down completely
before you clean it.
If the device is subject to heavy use it must be cleaned every
three weeks.
Use a dry, fluff-free cloth for cleaning.
Remove the dead insects by tilting the device and shaking lightly.
If insects have got caught in the grille, remove them with a soft
brush.
Disposal
The packaging is made entirely of recyclable materials,
which you may dispose of at local recycling facilities.
Contact your local refuse disposal authority for more details of
how to dispose of your worn-out product.
To help protect the environment, please dispose of the
product properly when it has reached the end of its
useful life and not in the household waste. Information
on collection points and their opening hours can be
obtained from your local authority.

Faulty or used batteries must be recycled in accordance with
Directive 2006/66/EC. Return the batteries and/or the device
through the appropriate collection facilities.
Pb
Improper disposal of rechargeable batteries
can damage the environment!
Batteries may not be disposed of with the usual domestic waste.
They may contain toxic heavy metals and are subject to hazardous
waste treatment rules and regulations. The chemical symbols for
heavy metals are as follows: Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury,
Pb = lead. That is why you should dispose of used batteries at a
local collection point.
