• Cellphone or tablet with
Android 6.0 or higher / iOS 10 or higher
• Wi-Fi router with an internet connection
• Wi-Fi 2.4GHz 802.11n
ANYTHING ELSE?
If you ever want to hang your Orb somewhere, you can use any
sturdy string, rope, bungee cord, etc. Just don’t hang it by the
USB cable.
Thank you for choosing the Orb Smart Portable LED Light by
Monster Smart Illuminessence. This quick start guide will
help you with setup and installation of your device.
Before setup, make sure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz
Wi-Fi network that your Orb will be placed on.
You may also need to turn on location to find nearby devices.
TIP: Do you know your Wi-Fi network name and password? Write
it down now if it’s hard to remember.

SETUP COMPLETE SETUP
BEFORE INSTALLATION
STEP 1
Remove your Orb and charging cable from the box.
NOTE: For best results, fully charge the Orb before setup.
The Orb has a built-in rechargeable battery that can be charged
using the included micro USB to USB Type-A cable and any 5v
USB power source (not included)

Download the app from the App Store
(for iPhone) or Google Play Store (for Android phones).

It is recommended to 1. Charge the Orb before setup and
2. First pair the Orb in a location indoors and close to your router.
Pairing Modes:
Press and hold RESET button for 6 seconds to change between pairing modes.
NOTE: At any point during pairing mode you can press and hold
the power button twice to turn the Orb o and back on to cancel
pairing and operate the product without Wi-Fi. Advanced features
will not be available.

STEP 3
Make sure your phone or tablet is successfully connected to the
2.4GHz Wi-Fi network that your Orb will be placed on.
Open the app and create an
account by following the on-screen instructions.
EZ MODE - RAPIDLY BLINKING LED (default)
EZ Mode is the default mode for quick and easy pairing setup.
AP MODE - SLOWLY BLINKING LED
Access Point Mode is a secondary setup that can help connect to
mixed networks. Follow the on-screen step by step instructions.
Monster Smart devices only work on a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
Many newer home Wi-Fi networks are mixed networks that are set
to 5GHz by default (ex: AT&T, Verizon) and you may need to use
AP pairing mode to connect. If you still have diculty, contact your
Internet Service Provider for assistance with 2.4GHz network setup.
Press and hold the POWER button for 3 seconds to turn the unit on.
Press and hold the RESET button for 6 seconds to enter pairing
mode (or change between pairing modes). The Orb will begin
blinking green to indicate it has entered pairing mode.

STEP 5
In the app, select the “+” in the upper
right corner of the home screen to add a new device and then
select “Lighting (Wi-Fi)” to add your device.

You can now use the app to add voice control (see pg 8), adjust
settings, create custom lighting eects, set schedules, and more!

Once complete, your device will be connected to the network.
Confirm or change the settings for your device and then click “Done”.
Your Orb is now setup and ready to use!
Confirm that the LED indicator is SLOWLY blinking.
Confirm the network is your mixed Wi-Fi network, enter your
Wi-Fi password and click “Confirm”. Follow the on-screen
instructions to set up your device via wireless access point.
Confirm that the LED indicator is RAPIDLY blinking.
Confirm that the network displayed is your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi
network, then enter your Wi-Fi password and click “Confirm”.
If needed, click “Net Pairing Mode” in the upper right to switch the
default EZ pairing mode for 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks to AP mode for
mixed Wi-Fi networks.

HOW TO USE
CONTROLS
Your Orb Portable LED Light can be easily controlled by the built-in
buttons, using the app to access advanced
and customizable lighting eects, or by using a compatible voice
assistant product for hands-free operation.
SCENES:
• press to change between 8 preset
scenes (or custom edits of scenes,
requires Wi-Fi pairing and app)
RESET:
• press and hold 6 sec to reset the
device and to enter Wi-Fi pairing
BRIGHTNESS:
• press to cycle between min,
low, mid, and max brightness
POWER:
• press and hold 3 sec to power
on or o your device
• silicon USB charging port cover
(see page 8)
Once complete, your device will be connected to the network.
Confirm or change the settings for your device and then click “Done”.
Your Orb is now setup and ready to use!
Confirm that the LED indicator is RAPIDLY blinking.
Confirm that the network displayed is your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi
network, then enter your Wi-Fi password and click “Confirm”.
POSITIONING
The Orb can be used in three positions: tabletop, handheld, and
hanging. The integrated handle features a convenient lanyard loop
to keep the item centered when hanging.
NOTE: Do not hang the Orb using the USB cable.

APP CONTROL: EDIT SCENES
The app gives you full control over all
the functions of the Orb, as well as the ability to edit preset scenes
to create your own custom scenes. Below are some of the
editable scene features for Orb:
GROUPING DEVICES
The Orb is great to use in multiples, you can control each Orb
separately or easily group multiple devices together in the app to
control them all as one. Click on the menu button in the upper right
corner and then click “Create Group” to group your devices.

COLORS: add or edit colors and arrange
and adjust them as you wish
RESET: reset to the default scene settings
Individual color adjustments
MODE: choose between 3 color changing
modes: Static, Fade, and Flash
SPEED: adjust the color transition speed
SAVE: submit and save your scene!
TIP: Set Brightness to 0% create an “o” color.
TIP: Set Saturation to 0% create a white color.

BATTERY/CHARGING
The Orb has a built-in rechargeable battery that can be charged
using the included micro USB to USB Type-A cable and any 5v
USB power source (not included)
When the battery is low, the LED indicator will glow RED
(when the USB cover is closed, the LED will shine through)
While charging, the LED will glow GREEN.
When charging is complete, the LED will turn OFF.
NOTE: Under normal operation, the Orb can provide over 6hrs of light.
White colors, high brightness settings, and frequent Wi-Fi controlled
adjustments can reduce the total battery run time.

Q: Why is my device failing to connect to my Wi-Fi network?
Make sure your phone or tablet is successfully connected to
the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network that your device will be placed on.
You may first need to enable and allow location services on your
phone or tablet to find nearby devices.
If your Wi-Fi network is a mixed 2.4GHz/5GHz network, try using
AP pairing mode for better results.
If you still have issues with your mixed network, you may need to
access your router settings and/or call your Internet Service
Provider to create a separate 2.4GHz network.
You may need to fully charge your Orb before pairing.

VOICE CONTROL
Using the name Orb, or the name you assigned your Orb, you can
ask Alexa to control your device, just say “Alexa,” and ask: “Turn on
my Orb”, “Set my Orb to blue”, “Set my Orb to 50% brightness”,
and more!
