Important safety

instructions

The use of any electrical appliance

requires the following of common sense

safety rules.

Primarily there is danger of personal injury

and secondly danger of damage to the

appliance and property. These are indicated

in the instructions text by the following two

conventions:

IMPORTANT: Damage to the appliance

In addition we offer the following essential

safety advice.

Location

•Do not use or keep this product outside

when it is raining.

•Do not store the appliance near hot ovens

or heating appliances.

Mains lead

•Do not allow the mains lead to become

strained or run this appliance over it.

•If the electrical cable becomes damaged

the complete cable assembly must be

replaced. Do not attempt this task

yourself, contact Goblin using the helpline

number.

Children

•Children do not understand the dangers

associated with operating electrical

appliances. Never allow children to use

this appliance.

Other safety considerations

•Never use in the presence of explosive

liquids or vapours.

•Never pick up inflammable or poisonous

liquids such as petrol, copier toner, or

other volatile substances. Never pick up

acids, asbestos or asbestos dust.

•Always disconnect the appliance from the

mains supply after use or prior to cleaning

or replacing dust bags.

•The appliance should never be left

running unsupervised.

•Repairs to electrical appliances are only to

be undertaken by trained personnel.

Unprofessional repairs can be dangerous

for users.

•Use only genuine Goblin spare parts and

accessories

Product safety

•Never use the appliance without the filter

installed.

•Never use the appliance to vacuum hot

ashes, broken glass, sharp objects or

liquids.

•Never modify the cleaner in any way.

Electrical

requirements

Check that the voltage on the rating plate

of your appliance corresponds with your

house electricity supply which must be A.C.

(Alternating Current).

If the socket outlets in your home are not

suitable for the plug supplied with this

appliance, the plug should be removed and

the appropriate one fitted.

If you cut off the plug and let go of the

cable it will rewind into the machine.

Therefore you must pull out a length of cable

and secure it before cutting off the plug and

refitting a new one.

WARNING: The plug removed from

the mains lead, if severed, must be

destroyed as a plug with bared flexible

cord is hazardous if engaged into a live

socket outlet.

Should the fuse in the 13 amp plug

require replacement, a BS1362 13 amp fuse

must be fitted.

Using your Aztec

Assembly

To fit the hose to the cleaner, insert the

hose end into the hose inlet ‹until it clips

securely into position.

Extension tubes

The type of extension tubes provided

varies depending on the model you have

purchased. Please see carton box or contact

the retailer for further details of your specific

model.

Plastic tubes (certain models only)

Attach the extension tubes to the handle

end of the hose.

Metal telescopic tube (certain models only)

Attach the telescopic tube to the handle

end of the hose. Extend to the required

length by pressing down the slider release

button Ïand pulling out the tube B.

The hose handle features an air flow

regulator Ìwhich allows the suction to be

reduced as required.

Attaching the accessories

Fit the floor nozzle onto the end of the

extension tube.

Other accessories are stored in the back

of the cleaner and include:

•upholstery nozzle for stairs, furniture;

•crevice tool for awkward places, behind

radiators etc.

Automatic cable rewind

Reel out the cable fully. After use, unplug

and press the foot pedal ·, holding the plug

until fully rewound.

WARNING: When using the cable

rewind, always hold the plug as the

cable will rewind quickly.

On/off

The on/off control is operated by the foot

pedal ‚.

Electronic power control (certain

models)

This is a rotating knob „which allows

the suction power of the cleaner to be set at

the precise level required. For example:

•turn fully clockwise for maximum suction

for carpets, hard floors etc.

•turn anti-clockwise for reduced suction

for upholstery and curtains.

Stair Lock

This unique device assists with stair

cleaning. The special bracket ‰, found

underneath, is lifted out as shown Cand

locked onto the stairs. In addition, the rear

wheels are locked in position as further

security. After use, simply push firmly back

into position.

Please note

When cleaning on stairs, for convenience

and safety, work from the bottom to the top

with the upholstery nozzle or crevice tool

connected directly onto the hose handle. It is

recom-

mended that

the extension

tubes are not

used.

Replacing/emptying

the dustbag

To obtain the best results from your

cleaner be sure to change the dustbag when

necessary, otherwise the airflow and cleaning

power will be reduced.

When the dustbag condition indicator ›

shows fully red and performance deteriorates,

first check if there are any blockages in the

accessories or tubes. If these are clear, it is

necessary to replace/empty the dustbag.

Paper dustbags

1Remove the hose end from the hose inlet.

2Slide the dustbag compartment lid release

¤, lift and remove the cover.

3Pull the cardboard seal up, to close the

opening to prevent dust spillage D.

4Remove the dustbag from its location by

pulling the dustbag securing tab Âas

shown E.

5Insert the new dustbag into position

ensuring the cardboard collar is firmly

secured at the base as shown F.

6Pull forward as shown Gso it locks under

the plastic securing tab at the top.

7The folds of the dustbag should be

opened out.

8Relocate the lid at the front (carrying

handle ⁄) end first and then close the

cover securely.

Note: The securing tab Âprevents the

cover being closed unless a dustbag is fitted

correctly.

Cleaning and

replacing the filters

Motor protection filter

This is in the dustbag compartment. Clean

it everytime you change/empty the dustbag

and replace it after approximately 5 dustbag

changes.

1Lift out the red filter as shown Hand

clean by tapping.

2Replace the filter by locating it into the slot

and clipping it back I.

Note: The filter safety catch Áprevents

the cover being closed unless a motor

protection filter is fitted.

Exhaust filter

This is located on top of the motor

housing J. Clean it everytime you

change/empty the dustbag and replace it

after approximately 5 dustbag changes. To

remove, lift it from its location and shake to

clean or replace.

Care and

maintenance

ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE

MAINS BEFORE WORKING ON OR

CLEANING YOUR CLEANER.

Your cleaner is manufactured to withstand

normal day-to-day use, but an occasional

wipe over with a damp cloth will help

maintain its good looks.

Abrasive cleaners should not be used.

ready to enable our staff to deal with your

•Name of the product;

•Model number as shown on the

underside of the appliance;

•Serial number.

Your two-year

guarantee

It is important to retain the retailers

receipt as proof of purchase. Staple your

receipt to this back cover for future

reference.

Please quote the following information if

the product develops a fault. These numbers

can be found on the base of the product.

Model no. Serial no.

All Goblin products are individually tested

before leaving the factory. In the unlikely

event of any appliance proving to be faulty

within 28 days of purchase it should be

returned to the place of purchase for it to be

replaced.

If the fault develops after 28 days and

within 24 months of original purchase, you

should contact the Helpline number quoting

Model number and Serial number on the

product, or write to Goblin at the address

shown. You will be asked to return the

product (in secure, adequate packaging) to

the address below along with a copy of

proof of purchase. Subject to the exclusions

set out below (1-5) the faulty appliance will

then be repaired or replaced and dispatched

usually within 7 working days of receipt.

If you suspect a fault, follow the simple

checks detailed below before returning the

appliance or calling the helpline.

•Check the filters for blockages.

•Check the tools / tubes for blockages.

•Check the plug is firmly in the socket and

the supply is switched on.

•Make sure the socket is working by trying

another appliance.

•Check the fuse in the plug.

If for any reason this item is replaced

during the 2 year guarantee period, the

guarantee on the new item will be calculated

from original purchase date. Therefore it is

vital to retain your original till receipt or

invoice to indicate the date of initial

purchase.

To qualify for the 2 year guarantee the

appliance must have been used according to

other than our service staff (or authorised

dealer).

4Where the appliance has been used for

hire purposes or non domestic use.

5The guarantee excludes consumables

such as dust bags and filters.

This guarantee does not confer any rights

other than those expressly set out above and

does not cover any claims for consequential

loss or damage. This guarantee is offered as

an additional benefit and does not affect your

statutory rights as a consumer.
