2 Take pictures

Charge the batteries

Step 1

Charge the batteries

The CHARGE lamp will start to

blink.

Connect the power cable to the MH-61 battery charger (

) and

insert the wall plug into a power outlet (

). The CHARGE lamp

will light (

Remove the terminal cover from

EN-EL5 and insert the battery into

the MH-61, making sure that the

small projection on the battery is

inserted into the matching pit on

the charger. Charging will begin

immediately.

Charge the batteries/Attach the camera strap

Charging is complete when the

CHARGE lamp stops blinking.

An exhausted battery can be fully

recharged in about two hours.

Step 2

Attach the camera strap

Attach the camera strap securely to the eyelet on the camera body as shown

below.

Attaching the Viewﬁnder Eyecup

A viewﬁnder eyecup can be

attached as an aid to users

who wear glasses or to pre-

vent light from entering via

the viewﬁnder. Attach the

eyecup as shown at right.

Insert the battery and memory card

Insert the battery and memory card

Open the memory card slot/

battery-chamber cover

Slide the cover in the direction

shown in (

) until it stops and

the cover opens (

Insert the battery

Insert the battery as shown in

the label at the entrance to the

battery chamber, making sure

the positive (“+”) and negative

(“–”) terminals are in the correct

orientation. The small projection

on the battery is on the same side

as the negative terminal.

Inserting the battery upside

down or backwards could dam-

age the camera. Check to be

sure the battery is in the correct

orientation.

The orange battery latch is

pushed aside as the battery is in-

serted. The latch will close when

the battery is fully inserted.

Insert the memory card in the

direction of the arrow, as shown

in the label at the entrance to the

memory card slot.

Insert the memory card terminals

ﬁrst. Inserting the card upside

down or backwards could dam-

age the camera or the card.

Check to be sure the card is in the

correct orientation.

Conﬁrmation dialog displayed. Highlight Yes.

Choose a language and set the clock

The ﬁrst time the camera is turned on, a language-selection dialog will be

displayed in the monitor. Follow the steps below to choose a language and

set the time and date.

The multi selector is used to navigate through the camera menus.

Cancel and return

to previous menu,

or move cursor left

sor right, or make selection.

Low battery. If ﬂash ﬁres, monitor turns off while Speed-

light recharges.

Battery exhausted. Recharge and reinsert battery, or use

spare battery.
