Overview
The ECM606 is a small portable unit that is designed to secure areas of up to approximately 20m in
radius. The exact range depending on a variety of factors such distance to a relevant base station
(Mast) and its radiating power, local propagation conditions and the type of antenna used with the
ECM606.
Operation is simple. One switch activates the unit. The indicator LEDs show the operational and
battery status. An internal switch allows the user to select which bands are to be blocked.

Slide the Power switch to “On”to activate the unit. The Blue On indicator will flash to indicate that
the unit is active.

The Battery LED will indicate Green if battery voltage is OK but will turn to Red if the batteries needs
replacing.
Antenna options
The unit comes as standard with 2 x omni-directional stubby antenna. This antenna gives good
around coverage and is the most convenient for most mobile applications.
Other types of antennas are available; please consult with SECURINESS for the most appropriate
product from its growing range of purpose designed antennas.
Setting the operating band
Remove the battery cover. Locate the 3 position Band switch which is recessed into the inner wall of
the battery compartment.

Using something like the tip of a ball-pen, select the desired band, and replace the cover. The new
setting takes effect immediately.

The GSM output is time multiplexed between the bands, whilst the UMTS signal is continuous.

When the external power input is connected, the internal batteries are isolated; they are not charged
from the external source.

Operating range
The main factor affecting the range of the unit is the proximity and power of the base station / mast
to which the phone is registered. Typical range is 10 –20* meters using the small stubby-antenna.

Using alternate antennas which focus the signal into more specific areas increases the effective range
of the unit. The SA918 directional antenna has a 9dBi gain so the ERP (Effective Radiated Power) is
increased from 100mW to approximately 0.5 watt.

External Connection
The 3.5mm stereo mini-jack permits both external powering and remote control functions. When
connected to our CPD351 radio linked detectors, the 351 supplies the power to the ECM606 unit
whilst the detector can select the most appropriate band or bands to jam the detected cellular signal.
This combination allows the units to function as a responsive/reactive jammer.
External Amplifiers
The output of the ECM606 may be fed into a power amplifier if several watts of jamming power is
needed. The in-band(s) return loss should be better than 2:1 at 50 ohms.
