The e 908 B/e 908 B ew/e 908 D
These microphones are professional pre-polarized condenser micro-
phones. An extended dynamic range and a well balanced frequency
response deliver an outstanding signal quality with excellent projec-
tion and the lowest possible distortion. An excellent directivity across
the whole frequency range enables the mics to handle the highest
signal levels without feedback.
The e 908 D has been developed especially for drums and percussion.
The e 908 B is designed for wired use with wind instruments, but
thanks to its instrument clamp it is also suitable for drums with sus-
pension systems or for congas. When combined with an ew bodypack
transmitter (SK 100 G3, SK 300 G3, SK 500 G3), the e 908 B ew is an
ideal way to give wireless freedom to saxophones.
For wired applications, please use the MZA 900 P phantom power
adapter, which adds phantom powering capability making these mics
suitable for direct connection to professional mixing consoles.
Extensive damping and shock mounting isolates the capsules from
extraneous vibrations, impact and handling noise.
The long, flexible goosenecks enable the mics to be optimally posi-
tioned on the instrument.
Features
• Exceptionally vivid, clear sound
• Optimum positioning on the instrument due to flexible gooseneck
• Shock-mounted capsule provides low sensitivity to impact and
handling noise
• Rugged metal housing
• Extremely robust connection cable
• Can optionally be used with any ew bodypack transmitter or the
MZA 900 P phantom power adapter

Using the microphone
Positioning the microphone on a wind instrument B
(e 908 B, e 908 B ew)
XUse the microphone clamp 2to attach the e 908 to the bell of the
instrument.
Pos. Resulting sound Commentary
B.1 • Reduced ambient noise Directed into the bell of the
instrument.
B.2 • Clear, powerful sound
B.3 • Balanced, natural
sound
Directed partly towards the bell
and partly towards the body of
the instrument.
Positioning the microphone on a drum B(e 908 D)
XAttach the drum clamp 2to the rim of the drum by putting the
upper part of the clip 5onto the rim and clipping it on by push-
ing down the drum clamp 2 in a rotating action until it snaps into
place.
XLoosen the knurled screw 6.
XInsert the gooseneck 3from the side into one of the two slots.
XTighten the knurled screw 6.
Pos. Resulting sound Commentary
B.4 • More fundamental
• Little overtones
Position on the drum: 3–5 cm
above the drumskin, directed
towards the center of the
drumskin, the fundamental to
overtones ratio can be adjusted
by changing the angle of the
microphone.
The most balanced results are
obtained at an angle of 30–60°.
B.5 • Less fundamental
• Many overtones
B.6 • Pronounced proximity
effect
Optional: tangential position of
the gooseneck in order to reduce
the distance to the drumskin.
You can attach two microphones to the drum clamp (e.g. for picking up
two toms in cramped space conditions). To do so, use both slots of the
drum clamp.
The various adjustment possibilities of the MZH 908 D and MZH 908 B
clamps together with the flexible gooseneck enable the microphone
to be optimally positioned on the sound source (see arrows in the
diagrams C).
5
Positioning the monitor loudspeakers
XTo prevent feedback and crosstalk, postion your monitor loudspeak-
ers in the angle area of the highest cancellation of the microphone
(approx. 180°).
Cleaning and maintaining the e 908
Caution Liquids can damage the electronics of the product!
Liquids entering the housing of the product can cause a
short-circuit and damage the electronics.
XKeep all liquids away from the product.
XDo not use any solvents or cleansing agents.
XOnly use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean the product.
