Introduction
The RS-232 Serial to Bluetooth Adapter is designed
to easily allow any RS232 device to communicate
wirelessly.

LED Indicators
See Figure 1 for the location of the LEDs.
Please refer to the following chart for the status of
LEDs.
Status Description
Power LED off/ on No power supply./Power input is equal or larger than 3.5 Volt
Power LED blinking Power input is lower than 3.5 Volt (See command DETECT)
Status LED off/ on No pairing established./ Connection established.
Status LED fast
blinking
0.1sec- Pairing (slave or master mode).
0.3sec- Discoverable (slave mode).
Status LED slow
blinking
0.9sec- Inquiring (master mode).
1.2sec- Connecting (master mode).
Antenna Connector
Simply connect it to a 2.0dBi, 50 Ohms impedance
dipole antenna to support 2.4 GHz frequency.
The Antenna is changeable for high gain Antenna.
See Figure 2.

RS-232 (Serial)
Connect the RS-232 port into any computer or
serial device, see Figure 3.

Reset Button
Use a tip of a pen or other sharp object to access
the reset button.
•To restore to factory default settings: press
and hold down the reset button for over 3
seconds.
•To disconnect and reconnect the wireless
connection: press the reset button quickly.
Here are the default settings of the Bluetooth
adapter:
•Baud rate: 19200 bps
•Data bit: 8
•Parity: none
•Stop bit: 1
•Flow control: none
•Bluetooth PIN code is "1234"

Hardware Installation
1. Fasten the antenna to the adapter and
connect it to serial port of the PC.
2. Power on.
2.1. Plug the included mini USB connector
into the adapter's USB connector, then
connect it to the PC. You can also choose
from the following options.
Powered DB9 connector (Pin 9): Often used
in POS system.
Powered by external battery: Three
Standard A/ AA/ AAA batteries,
or one Li-Polymer battery
(3~3.7VDC).
2.2. Switch the Power Source Switch to
power on the Bluetooth adapter.
Switch to "USB/Battery": When using USB
or Battery as your power source.
Switch to "DB9-Pin9 (5V)": When using
powered DB9 as your power source.
The Power LED would show steady red light
indicating the Power is on.

COM Port Configuration Guide
1. Configure the parameters of the COM port.
1.1. Enter Hyper terminal or other terminal
software to configure the adapter.
Program> Accessories-> communications
-> Hyper Terminal
1.2. Type in "Name", then click OK. The
name is defined by yourself.

1.3. Scroll to the COM port you are using to
connect, and click OK.
1.4. Confirm the parameters as the
following, to pair two devices for an
exclusive connection between them..
Flow control: None
Baud rate: 19200 bps
Data bit: 8
Parity: none
Stop bit: 1
1.5. After finishing settings, click OK to
store it. The adapter should start connecting
automatically, and the status LED will start
blinking.

2. Set up the slave / master mode.
This is for identifying the role of the device
as a master or slave.
Select Master, for DTE mode, for Data
Terminal Equipment (ex: PCs). Select Slave
for DCE mode, for Data Communication
Equipment (ex: Modem).
When youhave two RS-232Serialto Bluetooth
Adapters, you have to set one in master
mode via the terminal software. The adapter
is in slave-mode by default, and you can
choose either way to set the mode:
2.1. Using the ROLE command.
Type ROLE=M to set the adapter to the
master role. (Type ROLE=S to go back to
the default.)
Press Enter to see "OK". This means the
setup is successful.

3. DTE & DCE Switch.
Use the DTE/DCE Switch to swap between
DTE/DCE. By switching, you can set the
adapter as a DTE (towards antenna
connector) or a DCE (towards RS232
connector).
4. Set up the Group mode.
The adapter is in N/G mode by default. The
adapter can be set to G mode if you have
more than two RS-232 Serial to Bluetooth
Adapters, meaning this adapter is able to
perform single to multiple transmission.
Follow the steps to set the adapter to Group
mode by terminal software:
2.2. Using the "DIP" command.
The default is DIP=N. Type DIP=Y to turn
on the function of the DIP switch, then you
can manually adjust the S/M switch to
change it to master or slave mode.
