Introdu tion – About This Guide
This guide provides information necessary to safely install and connect power to the SSL Matrix console. The areas which are
covered by this document are:
• Important information and power safety warnings
• Installation instructions
• Specications
This uide does not contain audio interfacin details or operational instructions.
The Owners Manual, which also provides interfacing information, is a separate document which can be found on the CD ROM
included or may be downloaded from the internet at: www.solidstatelogic.com

Safety and Installation Considerations

this page before installing or using this unit. Please do not dispose of these instru tions.
General Safety
• Read these instructions.
• Keep these instructions.
• Heed all warnings.
• Follow all instructions.
• Do not use this apparatus near water.
• Do not expose this apparatus to rain or moisture.
• Clean only with dry cloth.
• Do not operate this apparatus whilst it is covered or boxed in any way.
• Do not operate this apparatus with the covers removed.
• Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other apparatus (including ampliers) that
produce heat.
• There are no user-adjustments, or user-serviceable items, inside this apparatus. Do not remove the covers of this apparatus;
doing so will invalidate your warranty.
• Adjustments or alterations to this apparatus may aect the performance such that safety and/or international compliance
standards may no longer be met.
• This apparatus is not to be used in safety critical applications.
The Matrix console is too heavy for one person to li. If covers or panels are removed for any reason, sharp edges may
be present on exposed metalwork.

Power Safety
• This apparatus is supplied with a universal power supply, approved and certied for operation in this apparatus. There are no
user-replaceable fuses.
• se only the Solid State Logic provided power supply and power cord. se of any other power supply or power cord is not
covered by your warranty and may cause re or explosion.
• The supplied mains cable will be coded with either of the following colour schemes:
1 or 2
LIVE: Brown Black
NE TRAL: Blue White
EARTH: Yellow/Green Green
• If an extension power cable or adaptor is used, ensure that the total power rating of the power cable and/or adaptor is not
exceeded.
• The power socket used for this apparatus should be located nearby and be easily accessible.
• nplug this apparatus during an electrical storm or when unused for long periods of time.
Caution
• Disconnect the mains power cord before removing any panels. The power switch alone does not provide adequate isolation for
service access.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not perform any servicing other than that contained in these Installation
Instructions unless you are qualied to do so. Refer all servicing to qualied service personnel and ensure that all
power cords are disconnected when servicing this apparatus.
When installing or servicing any item of SSL equipment, when cover panels are removed:

Installation Instru tions
• Ensure that the Matrix console is positioned on a secure level surface.
• Position the remote power supply unit in a convenient position below or behind the Matrix. The power supply must be located
on a hard surface and must remain upright so that it stands on its rubber feet.
• The power supply is convection cooled and sucient space must be allowed for ventilation. A minimum of 200mm clearance
must be maintained both in front of and behind the unit.
The PS unit must not be le in a position where it may become accidentally covered – such as by items of clothing or
paper – as this could constitute a re risk.
• Conrm that the PS unit is switched o before connecting the DC input lead.
• Connect the captive cable attached to the PS to the input plug on the rear of the Matrix console.
The 12-pin connector is keyed so that it can only be inserted in one position – the rectangular key
on the free socket should be in the uppermost position.
• Push the connector inwards and, at the same time, rotate the silver locking ring 180° clockwise until
a click is heard. If correctly located, the locking ring should not easily rotate anticlockwise.
• Multiple power cords may be supplied with this unit – use only the power cord appropriate to your
local power wiring. Alternative power cords may be used if rated 2.5A or above and tted with a 3-pin
IEC320 connector.
• Ensure that no strain is placed on the cables connecting to this apparatus. Ensure also that such cables are not placed where
they can be stepped on, pulled or tripped over.
Where the supply of mains power is provided from an uninterruptable source ( PS) the output waveform of the PS
equipment must be of the sinusoidal variety. Switched or stepped output waveforms may cause damage to the console
power supply so must not be used.
