Introduction
The present document describes the Graphical User Interface (GUI) that allows to initialize and control the EVAL-L9026-
Y0 evaluation board by changing parameters through the SPI protocol. The L9026 GUI has been developed using, as
microcontroller interface, the PT&S Connect.

1Hardware connection
The EVAL-L9026-Y0 should be connected to PT&S Connect as shown in the following figures:

To use the EVAL-L9026-Y0 GUI the PT&S connect must be programmed with the dedicated Firmware (EVAL-
L9026-Y0.elf).
In the following paragraph it will be shown the procedure to program the PT&S Connect using the ST toolchain
based on SPC5-UDEDEBG:
1. Start UDE Visual Platform
2. If not yet done, create a New Workspace for SPC56M. Click File > New Workspace

3. Name the new Workspace i.e. "monaco.wsx" and select OPEN
4. UDE Visual Platform will be refreshed and new functionalities will appear, then click on "Load Program" (or
File/LoadProgramm)
5. Browse the file "EVAL-L9026-Y0.elf" and click "Open"

6. In the next window click on “Cancel”
7. Then click on "Program All"
8. The UDE Visual Platform will start to load the program

9. When the procedure is terminated click on "Exit" on all windows
10. After clicking "Exit" on all windows, close UDE Visual Platform. After disconnecting and reconnecting, the
PT&S connect will be ready to be used with the Graphical User Interface (GUI) for EVAL-L9026-Y0.

3GUI package installation
Before the first run of STSW-L9026-YO on your PC, you need to install the following components:
• Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1
• Microsoft Office Web Component (OWC) ver. 11
• PTS Connect COM driver (PTS_USB-COM_driver.zip contained in the PTS GUI package.zip file)
• Microsoft Excel 2016 or above installed
To install PT&S Connect COM drivers, please unzip the PTS_USB-COM_driver and launch
InstallPlsUsbJtagDriver.bat. Once completed, plug your PT&S Connect to USB port.
In your Windows Device Manager, you should be able to see a couple of devices "PLS USB JTAG Adapter for
SPC5xxx X" in the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" node.
Only for "PLS USB JTAG Adapter for SPC5xxx B", enable "Load VCP" from Advanced tab and click Ok. When
finished, a new device "PLS USB Serial Port" will appear in the "Ports (COM & LPT)" node.

4GUI description
In order to run the GUI, once extracted the EVAL-L9026-Y0.zip archive please click on PTS_GUI.exe. To exit the
GUI the user should choose the menu "File" and click on EXIT.
The GUI is composed by three main tabs: Config, Normal Operation and SPI. The other tabs are used for Serial
log and PTS connect PIN configuration. This last tab should not be changed to avoid misconnection between
EVAL-L9026-Y0 and PT&S connect.

In order to connect the GUI to PT&S the user should push on the connection icon on the top left corner. If the
procedure has been correctly carried up in the bottom of the screen a led will turn green and this message: "PTS
connected on COM xx (FW ver.0.280)" will appear.

4.1 Config Tab
The Config Tab is used for the preliminary configuration of L9026. There are 6 parts:
1. Parallel input configuration: to configure the functionality of parallel input IN0 and IN1 of L9026. Pushing
on the radio button it is possible to associate the parallel input to one of the outputs. For further information
please refer to L9026 datasheet.
2. OFF diagnosis: to configure on which channel the OFF diagnosis will be enabled. Please note that this is
a one- hot diagnosis so, to be evaluated, it should be reengaged every time the user intends to check a
channel OFF diagnosis. For further information please refer to L9026 datasheet.
3. Bulb inrush mode configuration: to select channels connected to bulb lamps with significative inrush
current. For further information please refer to L9026 datasheet.
4. PWM configuration: to connect the internal PWM generator to a specific channel. For further information
please refer to L9026 datasheet
5. PWM generator: based on the PWM configuration, with this selector, it is possible to associate to each
configured channel one of the two available internal PWM generators. For further information please refer to
L9026 datasheet
6. Open load in ON diagnosis: to configure on which channel the Open load in ON condition diagnosis will be
enabled. For further information please refer to L9026 datasheet

4.2 Normal Tab
In Normal Tab the user has access to all the L9026 functionalities.

Except Driver 0 and Driver 1 that are only High Side (HS) driver, all the other drivers can be configured, according
to the HW configuration of EVAL-L99026-YO, either as Low side (default) or as High Side clicking on the HS/LS
button. With the ON/OFF button it is possible to switch ON or OFF the corresponding driver.
The PWM Config/Status Box allows the user to configure the Frequency and duty cycle of the L9026 internal
PWM generator. For the GEN PWM generator a fine tune is available for the frequency. Please refer to L9026
Datasheet for further details.
The Status is a synthetic synoptic panel that shows the main status parameter of L9026. In the upmost right
text box, the internal status machine of L9026 is shown. The button "Idle mode" will act on the idle pin of L9026
allowing the status change associated to this signal (for further details refer to L9026 DS). The "Diagnosis" button
allows the user to read all the L9026 diagnosis registers. The results will be updated both in the Status box
and in the Drivers box, depending on the active diagnostics configured in the Config Tab. Please note that all
the diagnoses, except the SHORT are one-shot, that means that once executed they have to be reengaged in
the Config Tab (for further details refer to L9026 DS). The "Diag reset" button will reset all the diagnostics. The
"Reset" button acts on the CFG_1.RST bit and resets L9026 (for further details refer to L9026 DS).
4.3 SPI Tab
The SPI Tab allows the user to directly read and write all the L9026 registers.

The user can choose the register with the “Select register” drop down menu and if he wants to read or write the
register using the radio button on the top. Pressing the “Send command” green arrow the register is either read or
write depending on the user settings. In case of register writing the user can change the register bit values writing
0 or 1 in the MOSI column. The read value is decoded in the MISO column.
4.4 Serial log and PTS pin Tab
The serial log tab is a list of all the commands sent and received by the PT&S connection and is intended for
debug purpose only.
The PTS pin tab is used to configure the internal pin of the PT&S connection. Please do not modify the setup or
the GUI functionality cannot be guaranteed anymore.
