UCSWITCH5/UCSWITCH9
OWNER’S MANUAL
INTRODUCTION
UCSWITCH5 and UCSWITCH9 are 10/100Mbps PoE switches. They
provide 5/9 10/100Mbps auto-negotiation RJ45 ports, in which ports
1-4/8 support IEEE 802.3af PoE (15.4W) and IEEE 802.3at PoE+ (30W).
The whole PoE power output is 58W/120W. With Cat 5 Ethernet cable,
power and data can be simultaneously transmitted to APs, IP cameras, IP
phones, and other Power Devices).
In addition, UCSWITCH5 and UCSWITCH9 support Extend mode. With
enabling Extend mode and Cat 5e Ethernet cable, the transmission
distance of data and power can be up to 250m.

The rear panel comprises a power socket and a grounding terminal.
UCSWITCH9 also had a lock hole.
Power Socket
The included power adapter connects the device to power through the
power socket.
Grounding Terminal
If desired, connect a grounding cable (not included) for lightning electrical
discharge protection.
Lock Hole
(UCSWITCH9 only) If the UCSWITCH9 is installed in a high trac area,
use a laptop lock (not included) in the lock hole to prevent tampering.
DEVICE INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION RECOMMENDATIONS
Follow these recommendations to ensure your safety and your device’s
operation:
• Wear antistatic gloves while installing and connect the device to
power.
• Use the included power adapter to power the device.
• Make sure the input voltage matches the value which is marked on the
device’s label.
• Place the device in a well-ventilated and dry environment.
• Do not open the device case.

9
There is a seal covering one of the screws in the
device case. If the device needs repair, keep the seal
unbroken until a Uniden technician can make the repair.
The user should not break the seal covering the screw.
If the seal is broken, the userwill be responsible for any
damage.
• Disconnect the device from the power supply when cleaning it.
• Position the device away from strong electrical currents.
Anti-Static Protection
Dust may lead to electrostatic buildup. Keep the device and its
environment clean. (A regular dusting is necessary.)
Lightning Protection
In a thunderstorm, the electrical discharge from lightning may damage
the device. Make sure the device, the installation location, and power
outlet on the wall are well-grounded.
MOUNTING REQUIREMENTS
Read and follow these requirements:
• The mounting location is stable and sturdy.
• Place the device where required in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated
environment. Keep at least 4 in.(10cm.) free on all sides for cooling.
• Do not place any heavy or large object on the device.
• Paste the four foot pad stickers on the corresponding four corners of
the underside of the device
PHYSICAL CONNECTION
RJ45 Port Connections
The RJ45 port uses an Ethernet cable to connect the switch to remote
devices. Ports 1 - 4/8 support IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at PoE
supply. The PD can be wireless AP, IP phone or IP camera, etc.

NOTES:
• A Cat 5e or better Ethernet cable is recommended. As each RJ45 port
supports MDI/MDIX auto-negotiating, either parallel or crossover cable
is acceptable.
• The device supports dynamic PoE supply; it will power the PD
properly and automatically.
Check Cabling
Once installation is completed, check the device cabling as follows:
• The operating power supply should agree with rated input standard.
• Ports cables are connected correctly.
• If there is outdoor cabling, connect a lightning protector to the cable
before you plug the cable into the port.
Connect to Power Supply
1. Plug the power adapter into the power socket.
2. Plug the other end of the power adapter into DC power.
3. The PWR LED turns on.
