The Dgtal Infrared Ear Thermometer s ntended for the perodc measure-

ment and montorng of human body temperature n the home. It s ntended

for use on people of all ages.

Multiple Use(Wide Range Measurement)

The Dgtal Infrared Ear Thermometer oers a wde measurement range fea-

ture from 0°C to 100.0°C(32.0°F to 212.0°F); the product can be used as an ear

thermometer to measure body temperature, but t also can be used to mea-

sure surface temperature of followng objects:

How the Digital Infrared Ear Thermom-

eter Measures Ear Temperature

The Dgtal Infrared Ear Thermometer measures nfrared energy radated from

the eardrum and the surroundng tssue. Ths energy s collected through the

lens and coverted to a temperatured value. The measured readng obtaned

drectly from the eardrum (Tympanc Membrane) can ensure the most accu-

rate ear temperature. Measurements taken from the surroundng tssue of the

ear canal generate lower readngs and may result n msdagnoss of a fever.

To avoid an inaccurate measurement

• SwitchonthethermometerbypressingtheON/OFFbutton.

• Afteronebeepisheard(andthetemperaturescaleiconisashing),straighten

theearcanalbygentlypullingthemiddleoftheearbackandup.

• Placetheprobermlyintotheearcanal,presstheStartbuttonandkeepthe

probeintheearuntilthethermometerbeepstoidentifythecompletionofthe

measurement.

The Dgtal Infrared Ear Thermometer has been clncally tested and proven to

be safe and accurate when used n accordance wth ts operatng nstructon

manual.

Directions For Use

Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the

unt, all segments wll be shown for 2 seconds

The last measurement readng wll be shown on the

dsplay automatcally for two seconds wth the “MEM”

con

When the °C or °F con s ashng, a beep sound s

heard and the thermometer s ready for the measu-

rement.

Straghten the ear canal by pullng the ear up and

back to gve a clear vew of the eardrum.

• For children under 1 year:

• Pull the ear straight back.

• Children aged 1 year to adult:

• Pull the ear up and back

Whle gently pullng the ear, nsert the probe snugly

nto the ear canal and press the“START” button.

Release the button and wat for the beep sound. Ths

s the ndcaton that confrms the end of measure-

ment.

Remove the thermometer from the ear canal.

The Led dsplays the measured temperature

NOTE: 10 short beeps will sound when the temperature is higher than

37.5°C (99.5°F) in order to alert the patient that he/she may have fever. In

order to assure the accurate reading, please wait at least 30 seconds after

3-5 continuous measurements.

Accumulaton of ear wax on the probe tp can result n less accurate tempera-

ture readngs or cross nfecton between users. Therefore, t s essental that a

clean probe tp s used before each measurement. For cleanng, please follow

the nstructons n the (Cleanng and Storage) secton.

After cleanng the probe tp wth alcohol, t s necessary to wat 5 mnutes be-

fore takng the next measurement, n order to allow the thermometer to reach

ts operatng reference temperature.

• Foraninfant,itisbesttohavethechildlayingatwithhisheadsidewayssothe

earisfacingupwards.Foranolderchildoradult,itisbesttostandbehindand

slightelytothesideofthepatient.

• Alwaystakethetemperatureinthesameear,sincethetemperaturereadings

maybedierentfromtherightearandleftear.

• Pleasewaitforafewminutestotaketheeartemperatureaftersleeping.

• Inthefollowingsituationsitisrecommendedthatthreetemperaturesinthe

sameearbetakenandthehighestonetakenasthereading

1. Newborninfantsintherst100days.

2. Childrenunderthreeyearsofagewithacompromisedimmunesystemandfor

whomthepresenceorabsenceoffeveriscritical.

3. WhentheuserislearninghowtousetheIRthermometerforthersttimeuntil

he/shehasfamiliarizedhimself/herselfwiththeinstrumentandobtainsconsist-

entreadings.

Changing from Fahrenheit to Celsius

and Vice-versa

The Dgtal Infrared Ear Thermometer can dsplay temperature measurements

In ether Fahrehelt or Celsus. To swtch the dsplay between °C and °F, smply

turn OFF the unt, press and hold the Start button for 5 seconds; When you

stop pressng the Start button after 5 seconds, the current measurement sca-

lef C or °F con) wll be ashed on the dsplay. Toggle the measurement scale

between °C and °F by pressng the start button agan. When the measurement

scale has been chosen, wat for 5 seconds and the unt wll enter the ready for

measurng mode automatcally.

Cleaning and Storage

Use and alcohol swab or cotton tssure mstened wth alcohol (70% Isopropyl)

to clean the thermometer casng and the measurng probe. Ensure that no

lqud enters the nteror of the thermometer. Never use abrasve cleanng

agents, thnners or benzene for cleanng and nevermmerse the nstrument

n water or other cleanng lquds. Take care not to scratch the surface of the

LCD. Remove the battery from the nstrument f t s not requred for extended

perods of tme n order to avod damage to the thermometer resultng from

a leakng battery.
