Introduction

Your Widex Senso P-CIC hearing aid is a very in-

tricate, high precision electronic unit. It has been

carefully designed to withstand years of wear, un-

der the varying conditions the typical user finds

him or herself in each day. However, your hearing

aid may be damaged if exposed to extreme condi-

tions, severe blows, or general neglect.

To get full satisfaction from the quality and the

performance we have built into your new Widex

hearing aid, please handle it with care, and read

the instructions carefully.

At the back of this manual you will find a user’s

troubleshooting guide, which will help you in situ-

ations where your hearing aid does not perform

according to your expectations.

Getting to know

the instrument

On the drawing (see p. 5) you will find the most

important features and functions of the hearing

aid.

A. Microphone opening

B. Microphone cover/battery compartment

C. Sound outlet

D. Nail grip on the battery door

E. Removal line

(Mini Canal aids may not have this

feature)

F. Front relief vent opening

G. Rear relief vent opening

The right hearing aid is identified

by a red dot or a red shell.

The left hearing aid is identified

by a blue dot or a blue shell.

The first two digits in the serial number

indicate the year of manufacture.

With your hearing aid you will find the following

cleaning accessories. Details about their use are

provided on page 16:

•battery magnet

•brush

• vent cleaning tool

• soft cloth

E. F.

Placing the battery in the

battery compartment

Remove the battery sealing

label and clean the battery

carefully with a soft dry

cloth to remove any sticky

residue. Then insert it in

the battery compartment.

The battery is placed

correctly when the flat

side with the little hole

in the middle is facing

towards the open face of

the battery compart-

ment. Most batteries are

marked with a small

plus (+). This plus should

face in the direction indi-

cated by the small plus

(+) printed on the lower

part of the battery com-

partment.

If the battery compartment does not close easily,

the battery is placed incorrectly in the compart-

ment.

Always place the battery in the actual battery

compartment and not in the open space inside the

hearing aid.

When changing batteries, hold the hearing aid

over a table or change batteries in a carpeted room.

Exhausted batteries: If you hear four rapid

beep-tones while wearing your hearing aid, it is

an indication that you should exchange the bat-

tery as soon as possible, as the battery is nearly

exhausted. Once the battery is totally exhausted,

the hearing aid will be totally silent.

Never let an exhausted battery remain in the

hearing aid. Exhausted batteries may leak, which

could damage your hearing aid.

Recommended energy source:

Zinc Air battery type 10

Senso P-CIC and Mini Canal use the Zinc Air bat-

tery type 10.

This environmentally friendly type of battery has

about twice the lifetime of a mercury battery

when used properly. It can be stored up to two

years, as long as the sealing label is not removed.

Therefore, do not remove the label until just

before inserting the battery in the instrument.

Once inserted the battery will start functioning

after a few seconds. Use your hearing aid with the

same battery until it is exhausted (see p. 7).

On occasion, a new battery may be exhausted be-

cause it was not sealed properly. If your hearing

aid does not work after you have replaced the bat-

tery, try inserting a new battery.

Note: When opening the battery door, be careful

not to force it beyond the upright position (see

drawing p. 6).

Turning the hearing aid

on and off

The battery door is used to switch your Senso

P-CIC or Mini Canal hearing aid on and off.

The hearing aid is turned on when a battery is in-

serted correctly and the battery door is completely

closed.

When the hearing aid is turned on, it might whistle

until it is placed in the ear. The whistling is

caused by an acoustic feedback loop between the

hearing aid receiver and the microphone.

To turn off the hearing aid, you have to open the

battery compartment.

Note: When opening the battery door, be careful

not to force it beyond the upright position (see

drawing p. 6).

Please remember to always switch the aid off

when it is not in use for a lengthy period, or to

remove the battery.
