Getting More Out of Your

This chapter explains how to shoot in TV, Av and M modes.

TMs chapter assumes that the camera has been set to the corresponding

mode.

You can set the shutter to the speed at which you want to shoot. The camera

will set the appropriate aperture value for the shutter speed you set.

TV stands for "Time value'.

Setthe mode dial to Tv.

Adjustthe setting.

2" indicates 2 seconds, 0"3 indicates 0.3 second and 1/160 indicates 1/!60

second.

The fastest shutter speed when using the flash is 1/2000 second. The camera

automatically resets the shutter speed to !/2000 second if a faster shutter speed

is chosen.

Depending on the zoom position, some shutter speeds may not be avaiiabie.

If the aperture vaJue appears in orange when the shutter button is pressed

halfway, the scene has exceeded the correct exposure limits. Adjust the shutter

speed until the aperture value appears in white (Safety shift can also be used

(p. 109))_

You can set the aperture to a value at which you want to shoot. The camera

will set the appropriate shutter speed for the aperture value you set.

AV stands for "Aperture value", which refers to the size of the aperture

opening inside the lens.

Set the mode dial to AV.

Adjust the setting.

Turn the _:i: dial to set the aperture value,

Shoot.

Available Aperture Values

F3.1, F&5, F4e, F4.5, F5.0, F5.6, F5.9, Fe3, F7.1, F8.0

Depending on the zoom position, some aperture values may not be available.

If the shutter speed appears in orange when the shutter button is pressed halfway,

the scene has exceeded the correct exposure limits Adjust the aperture value

until the shutter speed appears in white. Safety shift can also be used (see below).

In TV and AV modes, if you press the MENU button to display the _ tab, and

set [Safety Shift] to [On], the shutter speed or aperture value is automatically

adjusted for the correct exposure when it cannot otherwise be obtained.

Safety Shift is disabled when the flash is enabled.

You can manually set the shutter speed and aperture to shoot images with

the exposure you want. M stands for "Manual'.

Set the mode dial to M.

In _V_ mode, you can choose 3 levels of flash output.

Complete the setting.

to choose the flash output, then press the

Using Various Functions for

Shooting Movies

This chapter serves as a more advanced version of the "Shooting

Movies" and "Viewing Movies" sections in Chapter 1, and explains how

to use various functions for shooting and viewing movies.

This chapter assumes that you have set the mode dial to _. However,

even if the mode dia! is set to a position other than _, movies can be shot

by pressing the movie button.

The latter half of the chapter explaining movie playback and editing

assumes that you have pressed the [] button to enter Playback mode.

Shoots movies that can be edited with !Frame.1 compatible

_e iFrame Movie software .2 or devices. The recording pixet setting will be fixed

Super Slow Motion Shoot fast moving subjects and play them back in slow motion

Movie (p. 117).

ZoomBrowser EX or ImageBrowser. Ifyou are using an earlier version of the software,

Press the movie button.

Depending on the Shooting mode or movie

image quality (p. 116) you choose, black

bars may appear on the left and right of the

screen. These sections will not be

recorded.

To stop shooting the movie, press the

movie button again.
