Instructions for replacing the print head for the imagePRGRAF PRO1000

[Prior information]

•Ink and maintenance cartridge capacity is consumed by replacing the print head.

Preparing the ink tank and maintenance cartridge to replace in advance is recommended.

•Once you begin working on replacing it, you cannot use any other function until it is completed.

•The bag of print head should not be opened until right before installing to the printer.

[Procedure]

1. Press the ON button to turn on the printer.

2. Open the top cover when the power lamp is lit.

3. Press and hold the STOP button for five seconds or longer. Release the STOP button when the message,

“Processing… Please wait momentarily.” is displayed on the LCD screen. Wait until the print head holder

comes to the head replacement position. (For approx. 5 minutes)

[IMPORTANT]*1: While waiting for 5 minutes, please do not touch the cover and buttons etc.

4. When the print head holder stops at the head replacement position, follow the instructions displayed on the

LCD screen to remove the print head.

-> Press the OK button after removing the print head.

[IMPORTANT]*2: Ink may adhere to the nozzles of the removed print head. Please take extra care when

handling the print head.

5. Take the new print head out from the pillow bag,holding the handle of the print head, then, remove the two

orange protective caps.

[IMPORTANT]*3: Please make sure to hold the handle of the print head. Do not touch any other part

except the handle.

7. Follow the instructions displayed on the LCD to install the print head.

8. Close the top cover. Ink filling will start. (For approx. 20 minutes)

[IMPORTANT]*1: While waiting for 20 minutes, please do not touch the cover and buttons, etc.

When the ink filling is completed, the confirmation screen is displayed. Follow the instructions displayed on

the LCD screen to perform the print head alignment.

For performing the print head alignment, three sheets of A4 size or Letter size paper are needed.

[IMPORTANT]*1:

Please be sure to observe the following cautions during the ink filling. If you fail to follow them, filling

ink will be interrupted and you have to do it again, and in consequence, the amount of the ink

consumed may increase.

•DO NOT unplug the power cord.

•DO NOT open the tank cover.

•DO NOT open the maintenance cover.

•DO NOT move or lift up the printer.

[IMPORTANT]*2:

Ink may adhere to the nozzles of the removed print head. Please take extra care when handling the

print head. If ink is attached to clothes, the ink stains may not be removed.

To prevent ink leakage, please avoid removing the ink tanks if the print head is not installed in the

printer.

[IMPORTANT]*3:

Please do not open the print head bag until right before the print head installation. In addition, install

the print head right away after the print head is taken out from the bag. If you leave it open, the print

head nozzles will dry and the printing quality may be deteriorated.

Make sure to hold the handle of the print head. Please do not touch the nozzle, the electrode, and

the ink supply parts (circled in the blue). Touching any of these parts will cause printing failure.
