Level 1 Uptime Optimization

ProStream Series

User Guide

1 Introduction

In order to keep the ProStream Series running at it’s best, the day-to-day maintenance, is be covered

by you, a trained operator. Only in case of malfunction or in case of scheduled service-maintenance,

the local service organization is involved.

The actions below are considered to be normal maintenance actions which can be executed by every

trained operator. Additional information can be found in the user guide which is available on:

http://downloads.oce.com.

In order to increase the uptime of the system, it is possible to give an additional training, which

enables you to conduct several maintenance actions which are normally executed by the service

engineer. In addition you can do some checks and execute ‘normal’ preventive maintenance actions

which might prevent future problems and/or increase the uptime.

This document describes the ‘Level 1 Uptime Optimization’;program. It can be used by you as a

reference and logbook.

In order to perform the Level 1 Uptime Optimization actions, you need to have some additional

tools:

A flashlight

4mm Hex

Screwdriver #2

Vacuum cleaner

It is up to the local organization to arrange these. Also the normal maintenance tools and supplies

are needed:

Cleaning Fluid

Alpha wipes TX1004

Nitrile gloves

In this document, a couple of times we ask you to ‘inform service’ in case you notice

something during a check. Note that you supposed to inform the service engineer via

the logbook at the rear of this document.

Only submit a service call in case the system is not working according

expectation/specification.

In case you encounter problems during performing maintenance actions, please add

this in the ‘remark’ section at the rear of this guide. An engineer will have a look at it

as soon as he is on site.

3.1 Check the environment. Check the print room conditions

3.4 Clean CMYK and Color Grip Print Heads

Clean the print heads with Bemcot

and SU02/SU50 cleaning fluid only. Follow the procedure

in the ProStream user guide.

*Clean print head on the right edge outwards, clean the print head on the left edge

outwards, then wipe outwards along the entire length of the print head.

If needed clean the spaces between the Print Heads

If needed clean the gaps between each Print Heads

4 Weekly Maintenance

4.1 Clean the color Grip Extraction

A. On the front of the printer, open the

illustrated doors to the print head unit.

B. Place the clean and absorbent cloth or

paper completely Under the color Grip

extraction.

C. Insert the cleaning template at the front

as shown.

D. Pull the cleaning template under the

extraction along the full length to the

rear and remove.

E. Clean the cleaning template

F. Insert the cleaning template at the rear as shown

G. Pull the cleaning template under the extraction

along the full length to the front.

H. Clean the template and put it aside.

Depending on Soiling, repeat steps A thought H (Cleaning with the Cleaning Template) five to

six times.

I. Clean the blade in the extraction as shown, from the

bottom, over the entire length. Insert the cloth or paper

as shown and pull upward on both sides. Then push back

the cloth or paper over the entire length and put it aside.

4.2 Cleaning Sensors

Dampen clean, absorbent and lint-free cotton cloths with distilled water and carefully wipe

The dust and other deposits from all sensors that are in the paper path.

1. Splice sensors on paper input (Only for printer 1)

2. Paper edge sensors on the turning frame

3. Synchronization sensors before the print head unit

4. Data integrity mark sensors downstream of the print head unit

5. Paper temperature sensor in the dryer (Only for printer 2)

4.3 Cleaning condensate from the paper run-in flap

A. On the of the printer, open the doors shown

B. Remove the paper run-in flap.

Loosen the two knurled nuts, and

Swivel of the paper run-in flap

and remove in an upwards motion

C. Submerge a soft cloth in water, and wring

Out the cloth well an use it to remove the

Condensate on the inside and paper edge

Run-in area.

D. Reinsert the paper run-in flap, and swivel on it.

Screw in the two knurled nuts.

4.4 Cleaning the dryer

A. Open the outer doors, unlock and open the

Inner doors.

B. Remove the accumulated condensate in the

following areas.

1. Inner sides of the dryer doors

2. The sealing profiles of the

dryer door.

3. The cable duct below the dryer

doors.
