This manual describes the purpose, operation method, precautions, performance

characteristics, basic working principle, fault query, etc. of 4992A Radio Test Set developed and

produced by China Electronics Technology Instruments Co., Ltd, so as to help you rapidly

understand the methods and key points of operation of this instrument. For proper use, please read

this manual carefully and properly observe the guidance.

This user manual includes eight chapters in total.

Chapter I provide and overview of 4992A Radio Test Set, including main technical

characteristics, existing or available functions and technical indicators.

Chapter II to V mainly describe the operation. Chapter II describes how to handle a new

Radio Test Set as well as the precautions during operation. Chapter III mainly introduces the front

panel, external interfaces, etc. Chapter IV introduces the basic operations of 4992A. Chapter V

introduces the menus of 4992A, which are arranged according to the function categories to

facilitate access.

Chapter VI and VII introduce technical requirements, including a brief description of the

working principle of 4992A and an introduction to the performance test methods of main technical

indicators.

Chapter VIII introduces maintenance requirements, including fault query steps, error

information and repair methods.

Environment and Safety Instructions

I. Safety Protection

1. Safety precautions for the instrument

1) Use the designated packing box in instrument transportation and avoid damages arising

from falling or collision in handling.

2) Use a 220V AC three-core stabilized-voltage power supply to power the adapter, so as

to prevent damages to internal hardware arising from high-power peak pulse interference.

3) Ensure the good grounding of power supply as poor or wrong grounding may cause

damage to the instrument;

4) Take anti-electrostatic measures in operation, such as anti-electrostatic straps, to prevent

electrostatic damage to this instrument.

5) This instrument can be powered by the internal battery. If required, use the battery of

the same or recommended type for replacement; otherwise, explosion may occur.

6) The internal temperature is high during operation. In the design, heat is dissipated by the

casing. Keep at least 5cm of effective heat dissipation space for the instrument during

operation, especially in a cabinet. Ensure sufficient ventilation or use an effective thermal

conductor to transmit heat from the casing.

2. Safety precautions for other instrument & equipment

1) Check the working condition and turn off RF output before connecting the instrument,

otherwise it may output high power signal to damage the equipment to be tested;

2) The output power may be high in the self-test of this instrument. Please disconnect all

external devices.

3) If a fault alarm prompts during operation, indicating that the Radio Test Set is abnormal,

please turn off the RF switch or the power supply switch and disconnect all external

devices to avoid impacts on the device under test.

3. Personal safety precautions

1) Use appropriate handling tools and place this instrument with care to avoid personal

injuries caused by falling of this instrument.

2) Ensure that the power supply is well grounded, as poor or wrong grounding may result

in personal injuries.

3) Get the instrument cut off before wiping to prevent electric shock; only wipe the outside

of the instrument with dry or slightly wet soft cloth other than the inside.

4) This instrument has potential risks of microwave radiation in the high-power status.

Please take corresponding anti-radiation measures.

II. Environmental Protection

1. Disposal of packing container

We are sure that pack container of products is harmless waste, please save packing

container and liner for future transportation or dispose them according to local environmental

regulations.

2. Treatment of scrapped articles

1) Parts replaced in maintenance and upgrading of this instrument will be recycled by

China Electronics Technology Instruments Co., Ltd. The scraped instrument must not be

discarded or disposed without permission. Please inform t China Electronics Technology

Instruments Co., Ltd or a qualified professional recycling organization for recycling.

2) If required, the internal battery may not be discarded without permission after

replacement. It should be separately recycled as chemical waste.

Unless otherwise specified, the above-mentioned operations should abide by Regulations

on Recovery Processing of Waste Electrical and Electronic Products and local

environmental laws and regulations.
